  1. For those of you on not on the book. BA Chris, ya know the spelling bee champ, and I went to WC on Sunday since I had never been. Took a whole 5 minutes before Chris was calling for the net for a swimbait fish, not a paddle tail a real swimbait. Then it took us a while to figure out a pattern, slow early and picked up after noon. We caught fish everywhere we fished and didn't catch anything but LM and SM, no whites or drum. The streak of not catching a drum for me is still alive, even after we went to the best drum spot and threw neds. It wasn't an epic day, but a solid day with decent fish.
  2. I fish my 5" on a 7'3 H/F rated to 1 1/2 oz with a smoke 150 6.8. The smallies like it fished fast.
  3. I caught 2 that were easily over 9.4 on Friday on a jigging spoon.
  4. That sucks. As a dog owner that's the worst thing you can ever imagine your dog doing.
  5. Or go to ND where the birds are wild and your dog does more than retrieve.
  6. When are we going?
  7. I'm glad I went, you don't know if you don't go. I figured out when a tws ices up all your line ends up on one end of the spool.
  8. The BA and I were planning on going. Might even have a free place to stay.
  9. I guess risking divorce is legit also.
  10. Think of it as eliminating water. I'll show you some of the tricks I've learned from the guys here on Saturday, and maybe a couple of my own. Oh, and I don't catch drum last one (and only) for me was in 1992.
  11. I know dude. Guys backing out based on a weather forecast on Tuesday. Working is the only legit excuse I've heard so far.
  12. This was down by Hoisington, going the same place this year. We'll have to go get on some quail this fall.
  13. My wife has never really fished so I just give her a fat albert on a jig head and it works the best. She could really care less about catching fish, but likes to be on the water on a nice day. I've been known to let her reel in a fish also. For some a good experience may not mean catching any fish. Make sure you pick a day with good weather, high winds, hot day, or rainy may make for a less than enjoyable day. Maybe show him how to drive the boat and let him do it.
  14. Can't believe I missed this one: https://youtu.be/k29wdxKFcEU unacceptable.
  15. Fixed. Guess when you organize your photobucket it breaks the link. I'll know how good this year is going to be after November 14. I'm pretty sure I can find some quail an hour South since they were antagonizing me this spring.
  16. You need to go with me sometime, opening day last year: That's Ranger up in is box, wore out.
  17. You must be the dang Johnson County wastewater treatment plant.
  18. Agreed. There are plenty of places to fish, plus those guys will be looking for a couple big larrys. I was more referring to "tips on melvern".
  19. Doubt you'll get much since there is a 2 day out there this weekend.
  20. Here is what I did for my gopro: http://palmettokayakfishing.blogspot.com/2012/02/kayak-fishing-monopod-conversion-for.html Fits great in a rod holder. The light he shows also works great.
  21. Let's take this to the BR Thursday page on the Book after this weekend. Maybe we can get Brian and Van's buddy (gingers) to show up.
  22. "ned rigs on the dam!" NO!
  23. you'll still throw a spook or frog.
