senkos
Senkos are great baits once you learn how to fish them. I was stubborn and refused to buy them until I got my butt kicked in a tournament when a guy behind me caught fish after fish on senkos. Their are many different companies that produce senkos including Yamamato, Wave Worms, Kinami, and Luck E Strike. Just about every wal-mart will have some kind of senkos. Here is the website of the Kinami senkos they call them "Flash" https://www.kinamibaits.com/products.html

Fishing Jigs!
Jigs are a great bait all around. Jigs can be flipped into heavy cover, drug across open water, and fished at any depth you want to swimming them. The most common colors for jigs would probably be a brown or black/blue. When working a jig you can give it big hops back to the boat, shake the jig, drag one across the bottom, little hops, or swim it. For flipping it seems most effective flipping it into cover letting it sit, give a little shake, give it another shake then pulling it out if you don't get bite. Usually 12-30 pound test will be used when fishing jigs either braid, mono, or fluorocarbon: I prefer braid. A stout rod will be needed to get good hooksets with the single hook. To improve your jig out of the box trim the skirt so its equal with the bottom of the hook, and trim the weedguard. Fish will often times just peck the bait so always be ready to set the hook. Hope this helps!

Didn't the observer need to sign a liability? I would think that the observers would need to sign for this very reason. Pro's are going to push the limits like alot of others would if fishing was their job.

Hooks
I use Plano Tackleboxes and have the hooks divided by size. You can write the size of the hook with a marker how big the hook is. Another trick is to use film canisters for all the different sizes.

reel maintenance
I have my reels cleaned and oiled once a year by a proffessional. Everytime I try the reels won't work and I have to have them repaired and cleaned. Throughout the year I will use Reel Magic though, especially in harsh conditions.

Plastic Lizards
Lizards work great texas rigged, especially when pitched and flipped. Many people mainly throw them in spring, but they are good year round. As for retrieve I use a simple lift drop, sometimes I will just drag the lizard. Any color will do, I haven't used any bigger that 7" lizards.

Topwater
I would say a scum frog. My favorite color is a brown body with chartreuse legs.

Barometer.. what?
I don't look at the barometric pressure when I go fishing. I read in a magazine when the barametric pressure goes up then the tiny organisms will be pushed to the bottom then the bass will relate to the bottom where all the prey is. Then when the barametric pressure goes down the tiny organisms can swim anywhere and the bass will be active on the surface and bottom. Again, I don't look at the barametric pressure, but sometimes the moon phases.

Tips and tricks on cranking
Balsa crankbaits work good in wood since they are so bouyant. If you feel your lure getting hung up stop and let the lure float up a little.

Ever had a bad day?
I have had some days where I can't buy a bite, but I can break of every lure I throw. While on a family camping trip we had alot of things go wrong. Upon arriving my brother caught a good bass and broke the rod, my brother threw the top half of my two-piece rod in the water while swinging the rod, My best reel's bail spring broke, the trolling motor was on the back of the boat and when we hit a wave it broke off in the middle of the lake, and my little brother's rod was broke when my dad tried to get the snag undone.

WD-40
I have also heard of the kool-aid mixture being used. Except the guy would fish for catfish. His mixture would consist of kool-aid, garlic, and salt. After he would mix it togethor he would cut some hotdogs up and throw them into the mixture. After 2 weeks of letting it sit in his backyard in the middle of summer he would wrap the hotdog in bacon and head out fishing. He seemed kind of crazy though, he would tell me stories about catching the lakes geeze with corn, and then eating them.

Lessons Learned
I learned that if you are having lots of trouble catching fish that sometimes putting your pole down, drinking some water, and just observing for 3 minutes can get you back on track. I was also taught a little about spawning fish.

where do you come from
I basically live in the middle of Kansas. As for bass fishing I go about every other day from Spring to early winter at a city lake 4 blocks from my house. I also fish tournaments as a co-angler.

Bass Saturday
Just got done watching the first episode of Bass Saturday. It was great, the only fishing channels I get are espn and espn2 which won't usualy have to many bass fishing shows. Hopefully the show will continue a long time!

Black spots in the mouth
Another way for deflating the air bladder is by dropping the fish down to the depth you caught him from. I am not for sure, but I think you hook up almost a drop shot, but 4 ounces of weights. You then use a small hook with a flattened barb, hooking the fish and lowering him down to the depth you caught him. Within minutes the air bladder will relieve itself and you can shake the fish off.

Hand Carved Balsa Cranks
How do you secure hooks in hand made balsa crankbaits? I have got some I made that I used epoxy to glue in 3/4" screw eyes. It seems that such a light wood any descent sized fish would be able to pull the screw eyes right out of the balsa.

Spinnerbait
I mainly use Terminator spinnerbaits. I caught so many fish with one of them that the spinnerbait broke. I also have some Strike King, Hank Parker, as well as other spinnerbaits in case I need to bend the arm for a different action. I almost always use a trailer hook, the only way I won't is if I am fishing really heavy cover. In the open water I will sometimes use a treble hook as the trailer. I will also trim the skirt, place a second skirt under the first, and add a rattle. Is their a difference between the open and closed eye spinnerbaits? The terminators seem to be open eyed, while the Hank Parker "The Classic" spinnerbait have a closed eye?

Is there a need for speed?
Whenever I fish a spinnerbait I always try burning it before anyhting else. I keep the bait to where it leaves a wake. I don't know if I have ever really burned a crankbait.

Senko Line
I use anywhere from 12-15 pound test Big Game.

Name a lure thats a fish catching machine
I know it sounds funny, but it has worked for me. A 6" twirl tail Renegade worm in the Electric Blue color which is pretty much a purple. I have caught fish on that worm when others anglers can't get a bite. Maybe the fish don't see those particular worms that often.

Whats your craziest catch?
What is the craziest thing that you have ever caught while fishing? I would have to say mine would be a dogfish though I almost caught a heron when it decided my spook looked like a nice meal.

crankbait rods
I use a Bass Pro Shops Crankin Stick in the 7' model. The cost is around $50. It gets the job done, but I am hoping to try a helium rod for cranking.

Bullet Weight for Drop Shot
I ran out of my drop shot weights while fishing so I did the best I could to substitute. I put a bullet weight on just like you would for texas rig, but tied just a sliver of rubber band at the bottom of the line. Then I had my hook up the line like usual. The weight could move freely between the hook and rubberband, but with enough pressure the weight would slip off and I wouldn't have to break the hook off as well. It seemed to work, but are their thoughts on how my modified rig would give the fish another advantage? I have been using 6-8 pound test.
