  1. While fishing boat ramps or around ferries sometimes with lots of traffic fish will usually be waiting around for the boat to stir up the water, disorientate the baitfish and then eat them.
  2. Woo, Jimmy Houston, Mike Wurm, Gary Klein, Tommy Biffle, Paul Elias, and Jay Yelas for sure. I got the autographs in 1998 on a hat which is in excellent condition I just can't read some of the names. I also have a 35th Anniversary Ranger Boat Hat signed by Forrest L. Wood which I have been told is one of only a few produced. Does anyone know about the Ranger anniversary hat?
  3. The lake I fish alot has similair characteristics. The water temp is in the 40's, the lake has no cover, and the lake gets around 25 foot deep max. So far I have been catching the bass with shallow running crankbaits in 1-7 foot of water. Most the fish won't bite until I can run the bait into a rock or the bottom to get it to jump and draw the strike.
  4. Until I get through college I fish off the bank, but fish out of boats during tournaments.
  5. I am a righty, but I reel with my left hand. If you have alot of free time you can learn to cast with your left hand and reel with your right.
  6. I am going to try and get in physical shape before the tournaments start so I will have more energy at the end of the day.
  7. I am fortunate enough to currently live only 4 blocks from a lake. With the lake nearby I would say I fish somewhere around 275 days a year, even the cold winter can't hold me in.
  8. Morning Snack-Payday Lunch-Payday Afternoon Snack-Payday I eat the paydays because they don't have chocolate to melt and fill you up from the peanuts. Also lots of water.
  9. After cold fronts when the fish have lockjaw I try to get reaction bites.
  10. I found this at the bassmaster website in the little notes at the bottom the articles. Weirdest catch "The weirdest thing I ever caught was a body," South Carolina pro Jason Quinn said. "It happened on Lake Norman when I was 14 years old on a Zara Spook. I was fishing a point and a lot of boat traffic was coming by. I was walking a Spook on a point and all of a sudden, when a wave went down, this guy's head appeared. He had anchors tied to his legs and they said he had been in the water for two weeks. He apparently committed suicide."
  11. Like Chris said try using some darker colors in the dirty water. It also helps to use bulkier baits and rattles. With the dirty water look for bass to be hugging the cover.
  12. Between the cold water and cold front fish s-l-o-w-l-y. It sounds like you are using the right baits jerkbaits, grubs, and traps.
  13. When they water is falling the fish will be moving to offshore structure. Some drop shot or carolina rigging might catch some fish.
  14. I was catching some bass on a 5 1/2 inch suspending Smithwick Rogue. With this warmer Kansas weather the fish I caught were within 5 feet of the bank soaking up the sun.
  15. I'm 17
  16. I have caught the same fish twice before. He was easily recognizable by a crooked tail and he was really skinny. It was open water so I wasn't sight fishing. The fish was caught on the same grub within 30 minutes of catching him the first time. I then lost another good fish which I think was him again when I seen the fish flash. Oh, by the way the fish looked to weigh 2 pounds the way he was, but probably would of weighed 3 pounds or more if he wasn't so skinny.
  17. Beside having a topo map I use satellite pictures and compare the two. Using the satellite pictures it is easier to find old roads, and then using to map to find the depth and structure around the roads. Here is a link to where you can find some satellite pictures. http://www.terraserver.com/
  18. Two other methods to try would be dead sticking or shaking your lure. If you try shaking your lure try to keep it in one spot.
  19. As for the black lizard. If you take some yellow finger nail polish you can paint dots on the lizard and make it look like a tiger salamander.
  20. All the nearby lakes only have largemouth, but I enjoy catching smallmouth since they never give up and they are very aggressive.
  21. WOW, these Florida lakes are tough. I have went from 15th to 4th and then down to 11th. Please tell me Toho is over. Thats cool we have one of the biggest groups. 8)
  22. You can add some suspend strips or tacky weight to the bait to make the bait suspend, sink, or slow down how fast it floats to the surface.
  23. My dad started me fishing, but he likes to walleye fish or troll instead of bass fishing. Once I turned 10 I started teaching myself bass fishing techniques. Now I am teaching him how to fish ;D.
  24. Very much so. Whenever I see someone taking home a stringer of bass I get mad at them even though they really didn't do anything illegal or wrong.
  25. The dropshot and little soft plastics (like the crappie tubes)
