  1. Sounds like you are off to a good start. Some other baits to try would be jig/pig, fluke, tube, and maybe a floating worm.
  2. Whenever I see bass schooling like you explained I have two rods ready to go so when you have a small fish with a lunker following you can catch the lunker and shake off the smaller fish. This is if you are not fishing tournaments.
  3. Clear Water Bright Day: White, chrome, clear, or metal looking colors that have flash Clear Water Cloudy Day: Black, Charteuse, Blue or other solid colors Muddy Water Bright Day Gold and copper Muddy Water Cloudy Day: Orange and Chartreuse
  4. Its likely local Wal-Marts will carry the tubes while the website doesn't show them.
  5. A hair salon would be a great start. Maybe you can get free hair cuts as part of the deal
  6. I used to try that then I had a rod take a permanent drink.
  7. Suspending jerkbaits, they will work all year just watch Kevin VanDam. In the lower light conditions also try some topwater. Some tournaments are won when their are suspending bass by throwing spooks or chuggers with feathers on the back hook and just letting the lure sit motionless for 2-5 minutes.
  8. I agree with you Brad I wouldn't want a sponsor that I don't have confidence in. As for myself I look for sponsors that can help with cost by either discounts or "free" tackle, but only the products that I use and know will constantly produce fish.
  9. I haven't fished hair jigs much, but I heard they are a killer on smallmouth.
  10. Since the lake is heavily pressured try the Eakins Jig, it is a smaller profile jig but will still catch the hawgs. You will also want to some 12-15 pound test flurocarbon that is nearly invisible under the water. I tend to stick with brown/chartreuse or black/blue for colors. As for trailers I would definitely recomend them, just about any plastic trailer with similair colors of the jig will work. Last of all jigs will work all day long.
  11. I would try putting a hook that has feathers on the back, and then a bleeding hook in the front. The feathered hook will draw more strikes, while with the bleeding hook bass will hit the front hook giving you a better chance for good hook-ups.
  12. Gerald Swindle, he is just a crazy character and I believe it would be loads of fun to fish with him.
  13. I'm puzzled, good luck.
  14. I am recording the Bassmaster Classic and would make a copy for you if their is a way to watch it, it is vhs.
  15. What kind of baits are you using?
  16. Their was a similair post last week here is a link to the post it should answer all your questions .... http://bassresource.com/cgi-bin/bass_fish/YaBB.pl?board=gen_bass;action=display;num=1122159215
  17. Yes, the trailer will slow down the spinnerbait although I don't do it very much. I suppose it would also work on a buzzbait.
  18. Bass Pro Shops sells some good dvds I own Kevin Vandam Strategies for Changing Conditions and its good. You might also look at Classic Patterns dvd's, below is a link... http://www.classicpatterns.com/
  19. Look for the green healthy weeds which will tell you that there is a good supply of oxygen which will lead to bass.
  20. Culprit makes some real thin frogs, below is a link! http://www.culprit.com/html/frog.html
  21. I live in Central Kansas, and with the storms that rolled thorugh I slaughtered the fish with black and blue jigs when I got off work. Unfortunately I was only able to go for 1.5 hours but I still caught 5 fish, 3 of them were 15-16" the other 2 were 12" or less.
  22. I have never put live bait on spinnerbaits, first of all I don't use live bait and second it seems the live bait would get ripped off. Their are ways to modify spinnerbaits though such as.... 1) Trimming the skirt so it will flare out more 2) Adding multiple skirts 3) Shorten the spinnerbait arm 4) Add a soft plastic trailer to slow the retrieve 5) And ALWAYS use a trailer hook
  23. I don't think it can be to hot for topwater, but it can be to cold. With temperatures in the 100's, clear skies, banks without shade, and the middle of the afternoon I have still caught fish on the horny toad fished like a buzzbait on the surface.
  24. If you are going to skip a jig, use some super glue to hold the trailer in place otherwise your trailer will tear and fall off easily. You can skip with spinning tackle easily, but if you can skip with a casting outfit you can use heavier line making it possible to yank those fish out.
  25. I read that tournaments will usually run around $6,000 apiece for the pros after you add in entry fee, hotel or camp, food, and gas which will continue to raise the overall cost. I don't think that inlcudes pre-fishing. So next year with 11 events you are looking at easily $70,000 just to enter and go to the tournaments. Thats alot of costs to make up for.
