  1. I am starting one at Hutch Community College, from people I have been talking to I think we might have a full team! cgs2004, what division in Kansas do you fish?
  2. Personal Information -Name Will ******* -Age: 18 -Location: Central Kansas -Job: College Student (Freshman) -Former Employment: 2 years painting and mowing 2 years College Maintenance Crew 1 year Rice County highway Department -Objective: Fish in Pro Circuit -Tournament History 2002: President of Junior Sandhill Bassmaster Club 2002: 5th place in Bassmaster Junior Chapter Invitational Tournament in Delaware 2003: 8th place in BFL as a co-angler at Table Rock 2004: 16th place in BFL as co-angler at Grand Lake 2004: 3 3rd places, 1 1st place, and 2 Big Bass finishes in Sandhill Bassmaster Club (Adults) 2005: 1st place in YUM only Tournament, Milford Lake Kansas 2005: 2006 Kansas BASS Chapter Federation State Team Why you should sponsor me? Growing up in Kansas my whole life I was born into a family of outdoorsmen, but I have choose fishing and that is all I do. At the age of 14 I started fishing tournaments with the Sandhill Junior Bassmasters which were paper tournaments fished off the bank which got me started in fishing bass tournaments. While with the Junior Bassmasters I made it to the National Tournament held on the Nanticoke River in Delaware. Unfortunately I never heard of the Nanticoke or even Tidal Rivers at the time, but in the end it turned out all right when I took 5th place home. After fishing with the Junior clubs I knew I needed to make a change and started fishing some BFL tournaments with a teacher I had. Making the jump to Pro/Am tournaments was pretty scary and the first year I only weighed in at 1 tournament where I placed 8th. Doing so poorly was one of the best things that happened by humbling me, and now I am better prepared with tackle and skills. The next year I started fishing with the Adult Sandhill Bassmasters in little tournaments which gave me experience more than anything else, and only 1 BFL tournament where I placed 16th. Now I am fishing the Kansas Bass Chapter Federation State Qualifiers, which is the long way to the Classic, and hopefully some ABA tournaments under the CAST program. I am blessed to live only 3 blocks from a little lake where I constantly learn and work on every single technique and trick in bass fishing until I have complete confidence in them all. In order to constantly do good I believe the best physical and mental conditions are a must and both I have. During my Junior and Senior year I participated in two subjects that have helped me more than anything for getting fishing sponsors, Debate and Forensics. From Debate I became comfortable talking in front of people and arguing for or against cases trying to persuade the judges why they need to vote for me, and only in a limited amount of time. Then from forensics I tried exempt where you have 30 minutes to make a speech about a randomly drawn question, although I was horrible I eventually learned to think quickly on my feet. This next year I am going to school for a major in Business Management/Marketing and a minor in Public Relations which can only help me in public speaking. For all my sponsors I will wear logos, place decals on my car, hand out magazines/business cards, talk about their product, and provide links to the website from the internet message boards I am active in. Working with the Sandhill Bassmasters I help with Kids Casting Programs at the fair and Boat Shows, Kids Fishing Derbies, Bass Banquets, and then I work at Boat Shows where thousands of fisherman will see me. I will only take sponsor deals with companies that I have confidence in their products. My number one priority is winning the tournament no matter which tackle it takes, and then my second priority is winning using my sponsor's products. If you would like more information you can call my cell 620-278-6187 or e-mail me bassmasterwill@hotmail.com. I also got a website, and to access it go to my profile and you can find a link. What I am Looking For In The Sponsorship 1) A set amount of store credit per month or year 2) Some money to help with tournaments Both would be a designated amount prior to the official sponsorship. Check your rod guides for grooves or scratches that could weaken your line.
  4. I have also looked to show the fish something different especially in tournaments. What I have found works is going back to the classics including black worms, purple worms, and in-line spinners.
  5. With the carolina rig you always need to be watching you line for movement, and be ready to set the hook when you go to drag the rig because their might be a fish down there.
  6. Anyone use or heard of the Chinese rig? Its the same thing as a drop shot, but with a carolina rig on the bottom. It sounds like it would work, just make the carolina rig weght smaller so you can work it with spinning tackle. Casting it may be a little tricky.
  7. For that situation try some bulky, noisy, slow, and dark colored lures. Did you try any topwater?
  8. Try a buzzbait, burning spinnerbaits, or hard jerkbaits trying to draw reaction strikes from the fish.
  9. Oops.. I was wrong about the depth finder.
  10. Sorry for the crappy picture, but its the best I can get.
  11. Every now and then you will get the lure snagged in the weeds. When pulling the lure out of vegetation it can also expose the hook.
  12. Along with the boat my dad bought came a hand contolled trolling motor that has a depth finder on it. All I know is the depth finder is a Minn Kota and the depth finder has 4 diagonal rows of 5 little lights which will blink. All of the lights seem to work, but I have no idea how to read it. Any suggestions would be helpful. I will try and get a picture to add.
  13. It will work, just needs to be used under the right conditions. I would try it in low-light conditions and murky to muddy water.
  14. I let the hook swing free, while using tubing to prevent the trailer hook from coming off.
  15. If you watch your line where it first goes in the water, you can see it jump when a fish bites.
  16. Their is a little tool that the end heats up enough that you can melt the worm back togethor, I'll look for a pic. or link.
  17. Try the Zoom Horny Toad, you can make it weedless and it works just like a buzzbait along the surface. Just be sure to let the fish grab the bait before setting the hook.
  18. I've tried painting my lead sinkers, but then it seemed the fish didn't bite as well. Now your brass sinkers you might want to paint if the fish don't bite.
  19. First of all you will need a good solid hook set so count to 2 after the fish blows up before setting the hook. If the fish has the bait he will dive into vegetation so you WILL need to use braided line that will cut through the vegetation and make it possible to drag the fish out. As for braided line I would recomend at least 50 pound test.
  20. What brands of super glue do you use, if you do, for fishing? Is it just me or does everyone get super glue all over when using it? Every time I use super glue it get it on my fingers and then they all start sticking togethor, my fingers get stuck to my bait, or my bait gets glued funny when I am peeling my fingers apart.
  21. Their is a picture in the 1st photo gallery, but its kind of hard to see. http://sports.espn.go.com/outdoors/bassmaster/classic/gallery?page=classic_day1_2005# Thats the only picture I have found.
  22. I finally have a boat that I can fish out of. My dad bought a 14' flat bottom boat at a garage sale that has a 5 horse mercury (not sure if it works yet) and a little 4 speed trolling motor. Looks exactly like what Low_Budget_Hookers did when he got his, and hopefully will look similair when fixed up. Just need to make it green, brown, and black because my dad wanted it for a duck hunting boat. Hopefully it can provide years of great fishing.
  23. If your lake lacks vegetation, moving water, or any kind of cover it can become a little dificult to catch the bigger fish. Smaller fish will be shallow along with some bigger, so you can still catch some fish shallow without structure. You can chunk crankbaits and carolina rigs to probe the deeper water.
  24. Tough Question, but here are my picks 1) Jig/Pig so you can flip, pitch, drag, swim, and fish every depth 2) Shallow running crankbait, I just love fishing shallow running crankbaits 3) Jerkbait, get some good reaction bites from the fish
  25. Are you talking about something similair to what Skeet Reese had at the Classic? That will get the attention of other anglers for sure.
