  1. I just got back from some night fishing, and unfortunately I missed the one bite that came on a jig. Got a quick question, do you wait a couple hours after dark to go fishing or do you fish right at dark for a couple hours? I went right before dark and fished 2 hours into dark. If I go later into the night would the fish become a little more active? I threw dark jigs, black bacon rinds, purple spinnerbait, and then a black buzzbait. Good luck to everyone else going night fishing.
  2. Worms can be a good bait to flip especially now since alot of fisherman are hooked on jigs, creatures, and other soft plastics. As for tackle I would use a 1/8-3/16 ounce weight and then the hook size would depend on the length of the worm. If the lake is known to have big fish I might be flipping a 10"+ worm, or I might also be flipping a small 4" finnesse worm just depends on situation.
  3. They work great fished around rocks and wood, with the square lip they bounce of structure drawing strikes.
  4. How big of an area are you talking about? I agree with texasbass1, maybe the fish you were catching are conditioned to the tubes and the creature bait is something new to them.
  5. You can actually fish topwater all day long, even in bright conditions you just need to find out what the fish want. Good baits for fishing rip rap are senkos and jigs.
  6. I fish my crankbaits similair to how you would a spinnerbait giving it little jerks and pausing on the retrieve.
  7. Don't forget your white jigs!
  8. My favorite would be a 4-6" finnesse worm loaded with a 1/8 ounce jighead fished with 8 pound test.
  9. I have caught some fish flipping white jigs, and you can fish them all year long.
  10. With the depth you are fishing their will be alot of slack even though you don't realize it, so I would recomend a low stretch line such as Power Pro braided line or Seaguar fluorocarbon.
  11. I would try a carolina rig probing the bottom for rocks, brush, or weeds. Then try and remember what depth the fish were caught out of and if they are all in the same depth zone then you can walk around and fish that depth. Bowl shape lakes can be hard to pattern the fish.
  12. I would start shallow with a spinnerbait.
  13. I like D, with the cold front the bass that are not dedicated to the nests will be moving out of the shallow water. The weeds also sound good, like KU said the grass will hold heat the longest.
  14. Well, if you are not fishing Florida, Texas, or California where you need 20 pounds to win I would first go shallow and try to finish off a limit before returning to the channel where the bigger fish mainly females would be. +1 KU Bassmaster.
  15. I keep a fishing record of what I do, and then at tournaments I make side notes to how the winner said he caught his fish.
  16. I have been doing well with jigs, carolina rigs, tubes, and finesse worms catching most of the good fish in 8-15 foot of water.
  17. Feathers or other decoration are always good to have on the back hooks of a topwater bait. I purchased a little fly tying kit and make my own trailer hooks with feathers and deer hair.
  18. One way to calm them so you can get your thumb in its mouth is to gently grab on the outside of the gills. You don't want to hold the fish their very long and be sure your fingers don't go inside the gills which could injure the fish.
  19. Do not throw the bladed bait back to the fish as a follow up lure. I will usually burn the bait back in and fling a senko, fluke, or some other soft plastic where the strike occured. Hopefully you can catch the fish while its still excited.
  20. Columbia makes some long sleeve shirts that are lightweight and have air vents built in around the shoulders so it keeps the sun off you and keeps you cool. Also those hats that have a flap to cover your neck help. The wet towel over your neck also helps. Drink plenty of water or gatorade and not soda it will only dehydrate you. I was fishing with a guy worried he wasn't drinking enough fluids so he downs a can of Coke, won't help.
  21. ARe you talking about May FLies?
  22. I know there is a Del-Mart Molds somewhere. If I am remembering right the website is www.del-martmolds.com . Internet is running to slow to check, sorry if it is wrong.
  23. Leave your watch at home on your dresser, then if you have a spare watch in the boat set it back a couple hours.
  24. As long as their isn't lightning I love fishing in the rain because... 1) The fish usually become active when its raining 2) Alot of fisherman go home so I have the lake to myself
  25. I will say a 7, fortunately I live 3 blocks from a lake where I have taught myself every technique and trick I can learn about bass fishing. Hopefully after I get a boat the rating will rise a couple notches.
