  1. The only bait I pour right now are senko type baits, I can't say mine work better but I do have alot more color options. My favorite color is clear with blue flake. I also use all my torn plastics to pour senkos when fishing farm ponds when bass bite everything making it real cheap no matter how many senkos I go through.
  2. Shad_Master, I think he is talking about the GULP! that come in jars and not the larger nightcralers we were thinking of.
  3. Sorry to hear about the news, but if you love fishing don't give up yet. About the gulp nightcrawlers you might try texas rigging and c-rigging them. I'll be sure to extend my prayers out to you and your family until you can get back on your feet.
  4. Renegade baits are not the best quality plastics out there and the tail might be wrapping around cover and ripping off. Thats the only thing I can think of.
  5. You migh be able to get some topwater bites, I wouldn't stick with the bait real long if they aren't hitting them though. Also go slow with the topwater.
  6. Raul, would it be worth it to purchase the entire collection for $70, or purchase Bigmouth and Bigmouth Forever seperately?
  7. As for a custom mold, I would have one professionaly done. If you go to http://www.del-mart.com/ they can make them for you. They also have all the materials you need, I bought a kit and it has worked great.
  8. As for the deeper holes and getting your lures past the dinks you can try using a heavier lure that will get down faster or use a bigger bait that the dinks won't bite. Also any kind of vegetation is going to hold heat better than open water. Depending on the water temp. some bass will be sitting in the milfoil where its warm and others in open water where its cooler. Just keep track of where the bass are biting to find out what they want.
  9. Dang, you are crazy fishing barefoot with those big fish and pointy fins.

Spinnerbaits make a great bait for fishing in the wind. The carolina rig might be another good choice in your area.
  11. I can usually get out for at least 6 days a week, and most of the time I am fishing off the bank. During the weekdays I usually fish for 3 hours, and then on the weekends usually 4 apiece. Come winter and I might fish once a week.
  12. Clear Water: White, Clear, or Brown Stained: Brown, Baby Bass Muddy: Green with Blue Back
  13. It seems to be getting better now, but a couple years ago there were jet skies and party boats all over Cedar Bluff a lake in western Kansas. The thing was Cedar Bluff was a man made lake and the whole lake is covered with trees, which made it a great bass fishing lake. I could never understand why jet skiers wanted to go to lake with so many hazards, one wrong move and you could become a human shish kabob.
  14. It should be legal (Might check your states/tourney regulations), and although I have heard about people doing that I usually don't. If I loose as many jigs as I do weights than thats going to add up quickly. I have also heard about people using jigs as a Carolina Rig weight.
  15. I disagree, a pond would be a great place to test and modify baits it would be like a swimming pool with bass. If there is a lure I don't have confidence in then a pond is a great place to start.
  16. Big fish are just hard to constantly catch. When you are going for big fish you will want to use some bigger lures. Since you are using bigger lures the fish can easily find the mistakes and won't bite. If you use smaller lures then the fish will find fewer mistakes, but the little fish will also eat it.
  17. If nobody else is fishing the pond like you said I would go in the mornings and evenings and throw a buzzbait.
  18. 1) Find the Fish 2) Lure Color 3) Right Equipment 4) The lure 5) Lure Presentation Catching fish is tough when they are not where you are.
  19. I would suggest the Suspendots and strips, you can put them anywhere on the bait and they are easily removable. Sometimes the strips/dots will give the lure the extra action it needs to trigger more bites. Do some tinkering and you will discover what works best.
  20. For a start use balsa wood it is very easy to shape and will give you a good start, the lures might not hold up to alot of fish and they won't weigh alot, but it is a start. When I went to make circular topwater baits I used a 1" by 1" (depending on how big I wanted it) and used a power sander to round of the edges. For hanging the hook eyes I used 2 part epoxy which works great and can be purchased at most hobby stores. Use lexan for the lips and not plexi-glass the plexi-glass will easily chip in cold water. You can buy all the hook eyes through cabelas and bps for sure. Hope this helps a little. Oh, one last thing watch your fingers ;D.
  21. I built a little deck for a jon boat and use 3/4" plywood which has held up good. Be sure to use some kind of waterproof paint to keep the deck from bowing. Also you will want to have the deck sit at least 5" below the top on the boat. If you don't then it will become very unstable. Hope this helps at least some.
  22. I would go with some darker colors if the water is dirty. Some possible good choices would be brown, black and maybe watermelon.
  23. I use the Costa Del Mar Fathom Series sunglasses with the blue mirror lens. I can't say I can see further in the water with them compared to $25 Solar Bats, but my eyes are not as stressed at the end of the day. I would never go back, they cost $150 but its worth it if you are a serious angler.
  24. If kids are constantly running up and down then the fish will get accustomed to the noise and vibrations so I wouldn't worry about that. Since you got the heavy rain you might want to downsize and go with a smaller jig or worm and fish it slower than usual. As for color I would try a brown/chartreuse jig.
  25. If I had a boat I would have a regular life jacket as well as sospenders. Some lakes, states, and tournaments require that you wear sospenders at all times so the regular life jacket would be beneficial. Also during heavy rains I would rather just have a life jacket so I wouldn't have to worry about the sospenders exploding.
