  1. There are plenty of them in Lake Champlain here in the Northeast...
  2. The USA swept the skeet competition with a gold in mens' and women's. The women's favorite to win gold, from England, got knocked out of the competition by testing COVID19 positive when leaving for Tokyo.
  3. No, but I think the fox that frequents my yard may have brought him home to her kits. Either that, or the crows were really working at their full potential today... the groundhog carcass is gone. I've never tried eating one but most vegetarian animals are good table fare, right?
  4. I just got my first groundhog of the season but I didn't trap him. I "poisoned" him with a 21gr. H&N Barracuda .22 pellet out of my Weirauch HW90... 15-yard shot out the bathroom window. He stood up when he heard me easing open the screen. ?
  5. Judging by the time it took to get a response, I'm not sure the e-mail even went to someone in this solar system... ? I was hoping it would be a simple matter for someone to look up the original boat part and compare it to the catalog part; no electrical know-how involved. Although it was a bit frustrating, I found it sort of humorous. I had worked around the problem within a day and forgot all about sending the question. The only other time I asked them for help, I sent a question about the sizes/part numbers for bearing seals on the trailer that came with my boat package. They responded quickly and provided me with the information i needed. So I've had 50/50 success with them so far...
  6. On 6/17 I e-mailed with this question, along with the serial number of my boat: I'm replacing the trolling motor on my 2014 Tracker Pro170. Do you know if the 10amp trolling motor plug currently offered by BassPro (#51550) is a correct fit to the receptacle on my boat? 36 days later, I received this response: Very sorry you will need to get with your dealer who have certified technicians on hand who can answer questions like this. If i'm looking correctly it came with a 12v and I do not know if a 10V works. Good grief... I ended up cutting off the plug from my original trolling motor and attaching it to the power cable of the new one. Good thing I didn't wait around for the answer from their "Parts Administration" department. Thank goodness the boat has shown much better quality than their support. ?
  7. You can buy a length of hardened chain and a good padlock, or you can go lower budget and buy a cable type bicycle lock, etc. A real thief will get it if they really want it but a decent chain/cable and lock will discourage the majority, I'd guess.
  8. I sure love the Pit Boss, new or old. After that comes the Missile D Bomb. I'm embarrassed to say I've never tried a Rage Bug. I might even have a pack or two in my great big box o' plastics in the spare bedroom...
  9. I'm sort of in the same boat. I tow my Tracker Pro170 with my base model 2009 Subaru Forester. Luckily, the boat launch is about 3 miles from my house. The heavy use of road salt in the long Adirondack winters is starting to take its toll on my 12-year-old car. Even though the vehicle has less than 80K miles on it, the body is ready to rust through. I have some bubbling in the paint near the body panel joints. And that means the important stuff underneath is also compromised. I wanted to trade for a new Forester a year or two ago but the newer ones have a CVT transmission (mine has the old four-speed automatic) and a 1500lb towing capacity. For some reason, the newer Outbacks have more towing capacity but they also cost a little more and the ones left on the lot are the fully-loaded expensive ones. I drove 4WD pick-ups most of my life but the price of trucks has become obscene. I have a long, steep driveway and 4WD/AWD is very important to me. I have been extremely happy with the Forester. It actual goes better on the snow and ice than my Toyota, Chevy, or Dodge trucks did.

I thought the same thing at first, but then I heard that extra little noise it makes. It appears that each side of the front "scoop" is dished out, unlike a Jitterbug. I'm amazed at the effects that even very subtle differences between poppers can have. Maybe this funny lure might have some magic! ?
  11. I've had a SS Tournament 1300 that has been used in fresh and salt water for twenty-some-odd years. Somewhere around the middle of that time, I tore it all the way down for a deep clean and re-lube (and I remember struggling to re-assemble it!). It still runs beautifully and will probably outlive me. Not the smoothest... not the prettiest... but a simple, rock-solid and reliable performer, I think.
  12. They make some light ones. My old Daiwa Alphas SV-105 has one.
  13. Years ago, Sierra Trading Post was my first-look go-to when mail-ordering anything for the outdoors. I haven't looked there much lately. I still have a lot of great polypro base layer stuff from them... discontinued colors, overstocks, etc., purchased at way under retail. And all kinds of sporting outerwear like waterproof-breathable rain gear, down jackets, etc. All name brand stuff at fantastic prices... they saved careful shoppers a lot of money.
  14. I can't remember the brand; very likely something from Cabela's in the 1970s. What I remember is smallmouth bass fishing on Lake George in NY with that new graphite spinning rod and being able to really feel my jig bouncing along the bottom or my crankbaits shimmying and bouncing off the rocks. Graphite rods improved incrementally since then and I didn't really notice any huge difference in feel until I tried braided line and then braided line and a tungsten worm weight on a good graphite rod. Wow... talk about feeling the bottom! We've come a long way.
  15. It will also make a nice BFS reel with it's light, shallow spool. I'm anxious to pick one up.
  16. Or if you were savvy enough to do a little research you could try BFS with a Kastking Zephyr reel ($70) and a nice Dobyns Sierra Ultra Finesse series rod which are affordable and easily available here in the states.
  17. Be careful... before you know it, you'll be spending big money on some fancy BFS gear! ?
  18. I use both but I do think it is much easier and more comfortable to precisely feather a cast with thumb pressure on a spinning baitcasting spool than by using an index finger to slow the line going out on a spinning reel. I am personally more accurate with a baitcaster than a spinning reel. YMMV...
  19. Hour and a half north...
  20. I think Dave is correct. The Tigers seem to have pairs of slanted stripes vs. the bolder single stripes on a muskellunge. Muskellunge Tiger Muskellunge (At least in these photos. I've never seen one and shouldn't have responded to the OP! Sorry...)
  21. It's a natural hybrid that's present in lakes with good populations of muskies and pike. I think they're pretty common, although I have yet to catch one in Lake Champlain (I'm at the southern end and the muskies tend to be in the northern part; plenty of pike and pickerel in my end, though).
  22. Tiger Musky... Northern Pike/Musky cross?
  23. Oh, come on! They're not THAT cute! ? I guess I am more attracted to the thin profile vs. the wake bait/crank bait shape. ?
  24. I have some of the Yo-Zuri and KVD/Strike King wake baits. Good to have in the arsenal! Mine are in conventional opaque colors, though. My experiences with some Megabass hard baits has me ordering more baits in the ghost and ghost/metallic/reflective color schemes.
  25. Congratulations. I have a Striker Plus 5cv and love it. If I remember correctly, there was a much more detailed instruction manual on line, vs. the one that came with it (at least in the case of the portable version that I purchased). I'm an instruction-reader and usually keep the manual of a newly-purchased electronics item on my nightstand for a bit of before-sleep reading. The more you learn about the unit, the more you'll get out of it. There are lots of menu choices and adjustments on multiple levels. Word up! And enjoy!
