  1. They are rigged and ready...
  2. I'll update tomorrow also. Weather here in NW FL has been great. Cold front moved in last night. Will be in the mid 30's- low 40's tomorrow morning where I am headed to fish. Hoping it does not make the fish have lockjaw. Been planning this trip for a few weeks.
  3. Good info. I was going to ask the same question.
  4. That is a great area for fishing!
  5. 5# all day long. good job.
  6. great pic. Funny stuff.
  7. Got to the lake right at sunrise. Beautiful day, light winds, maybe 3mph at times. First time to this lake, so did not know what to expect. They have posted pictures of some real lunkers, bunch of 8,9,10 even 12 + 13# fish. Not just people saying it, they weigh and take a picture of all of them. This past year was really good. Headed to the north end, stopping at some areas where there was some top water activity. Threw a buzzbait with no luck. Put on a senko and my boy put on a wiggler, boom, he catches a small 10" dink. We drove around for hours trying to mark some fish, marked a few small ones, probably some bream. Only other activity was deep in the cover against the shore. Almost impossible to get to, water was real shallow in areas, almost needed a push pole for the spots I wanted to get to. Water was pretty murky, maybe 1-2' visibility. Tried everything, just not a productive day. Let my son drive the boat for awhile, and run in up on the trailer, that was his fun for the day. I would definitely give this lake another try, just not sure when. Beautiful place, we were the only people there til around 9:30. Not that it helped.
  8. I love fishing with my kids...but, I do also like the company of my fellow angling "peers".
  9. Plan on trying my luck up there on Sunday. Going to bring some new squarebills and shallow crank baits and see what happens, along with the usual jigs and drop shot stuff. Weather looks good, clear and sunny, with some light 2-3mph wind. Been ready since last week...caught a nasty cold and was stuck in the house this past weekend. Anybody fish here lately?
  10. When I was a wee lad, my grandpa would wake me up real early, fish the canals of south miami. Memories I hold dear to my heart. When I got older, my step dad would take me fishing in the keys all the time. Had a blast, we still reminisce of some the the awesome dolphin days we had. Never forget, I must have been around 11 or so, I hooked a monster snapper on a creek mouth in biscayne bay, I was yelling for him to take the rod! He said, no, no, no, you better reel that thing in. That's pretty much what I told my boy when he hooked his first tarpon...reel it in or I am going by myself next time. He landed 2 that day. Tough love. Sometimes gives them the inspiration to do what they think they can't. Great topic, brings back some great memories!
  11. Planned all week to go fishing today with my son. Came down with a nasty cold yesterday at work. Been sitting in my chair all day in front of the tube. Being sick is no fun. Hope to catch up next weekend.
  12. I bought a couple jackson "cruise" models early this year. Got 2013 models, and a nice discount. It's basically the same hull as the cuda model, less rear hatch and a few other things, but it comes "nutserts" for accessories. I use them for ram ball mounts for rod holders. The jackson seats are comfy. Just keep in mind, you will need $ for a paddle, life jacket, rod holders, and all the other stuff you don't think about. Anchor, anchor trolley...it can be a long list. I have enjoyed using the kayaks, from nw florida to key west. Have not had them on the water since july, by then, it's pretty hot in florida...and fishing in the bays gets tough, not to mention dreadfully hot/humid, not much fun. Check the online retailers, you will find the best pricing...I tried to buy local, but they wanted to charge premium $ and premium shipping, no thanks. Check craigslist, depending on your area, sometimes there are some really good deals and quality used kayaks. Good luck! It is a lot of fun.
  13. I like to fish for bass starting at dawn til about noon. I hook the bull reds late night into the am.
  14. My wife has never fished with me. Never gave her a hard time about it, me and my kids fish every chance we get!
  15. My boy hooked up early this morning, 2nd cast. Dink hit a 3" grass pig on a dirty jigs swimbait head. I got a blowup on a white cavitron buzzbait. Threw it some more, no takers. Busted out the berkley white shads, which usually work well at this lake, did not work today. Threw a frog for a bit, nothing. Threw different swimjigs...a couple small hits. Wound up putting around looking at the ff, ended up catching about 15 on dropshot w/ different senko's and senko type worms. Had a great day.
  16. Headed to dreamstrike in the morning. Hope the lunker bite is on. A lot of dinks the past few months. Looking forward to it.
  17. I hope so. Last few trips have been all dinks...fun, but not what I was hoping for. Will report back after our trip.
  18. Looking at the forecast, plan on heading over to one of my favorite places over in Mississippi this weekend. Looks like it will be in the low 50's and maybe even hit upper 40's over night on Saturday/Sunday. Could not ask for more. Even the wind will be calm, under 5mph on Sunday. Been thinking about it all week, taking my youngest daughter again. Good times
  19. denser, smaller physical size for weight ratio.
  20. go pro...headstrap, or get some kind of pole mount if you are in a boat, or kayak.
  21. microfiber/lens cloth. lens cleaner spray, or window cleaner.
  22. I guess that would depend. I find the ez shad to be pretty durable. After a few fish on single ez shad, all I could see was rash from "teeth" marks. Was not ripped at all. Still using it. x2 on dirty jigs, great colors/sizes and durable.
  23. I'm still chasing a 5lber this year. Hopefully this fall will be good to me.
