  1. Probably going to stay over in st.joe for spring break with the family. Will be fishing st.joe bay, and thought about trying dead lakes, looks like a great place to visit. Bringing the kayaks and gopro, can't wait. Can't find many reports on fishing, a few, some are dated.
  2. I use similar swimbaits, and use weighted swimbait hooks, work great. a #4 or 5 works.
  3. Tons of places for kayak rentals, some even deliver to you!
  4. Yes, they would be perfect.
  5. yes, you can buy shrimp everywhere. fresh or frozen, shrimp are the go to bait for just about anything. Stop by the local bait shops and those guys will point you in the right direction. Keep the pinfish and grunts you catch...they make good bait too. you will catch a bunch... Good advice above, the current/tides can be VERY dangerous, especially in a kayak. It's NO joke. Stay away from the passes/bridges in a yak, trust me. You will see when you get down there. If you are going to kayak for tarpon, be prepared to paddle a lot, bring some crabs and hogleg mullet...and hold on, always be prepared to cut your losses, i.e. cut your line, if/when you start getting dragged toward the current/bridge. Heck, I'm so pumped from this thread, I might head back down there in June, lol.
  6. Here's some of our tarpon fun this past June in the keys: and my boy's first tarpon: this is a good video...some slow-mo jumps
  7. ya, they won the coin toss...somebody has to have possession start of 3rd quarter... 59-20 That kinda ends all the what if's and "relative" arguments?
  8. There are MANY bridges you can fish. http://www.bridgemapper.com/maps/fl/fl_monroe.htm You are surrounded by water and islands,mangroves... Islamorada is tourist central that time of year, busy and expensive. If you want less people/traffic, head down towards marathon, big pine key, ramrod or cudjoe key. From these keys, you can rent some kayaks and stay on the gulf side, might be easier for your little lady to manage a kayak. Weather, wind and rain comes and goes pretty fast, so watch the weather outlook. Here's a little spot that is awesome, a little "canal" that is always full of mullet and snapper, leads right out to the gulf, big flats: https://www.google.com/maps/place/Pruitt+Dr,+Summerland+Key,+FL+33042/@24.669672,-81.4157067,391m/data=!3m2!1e3!4b1!4m2!3m1!1s0x88d0fdf0183292ff:0x46e9f99e9224a04b Another spot you can launch kayaks, hit the flats catch pompano, bones, and tons of other good stuff, might even get lucky and see the tarpon rolling: https://www.google.com/maps/place/Blimp+Rd,+Cudjoe+Key,+FL+33042/@24.6858256,-81.4996156,783m/data=!3m2!1e3!4b1!4m2!3m1!1s0x88d0ffeca6ab0cc1:0xdffc791da3ece5ac You could just drive down the highway and stop where it looks good. You can't fish everywhere or every bridge, so be mindful. June is the best time to be down there. Save some $ if you can, get a tarpon charter and you will be hooked! Good luck! PS, bring the nuclear powered bug spray, the skeeters and noseeums will EAT U ALIVE! Nice and cheap(together) are not allowed in the keys...bring your $, you will not regret it.
  9. Sure was. FSU have been exposed. Let's go Bama!

If any of you like spy type novels, check out the author Daniel Silva and his Gabriel Allon series. Start from the beginning or you will be missing out. I get the audio versions, and listen when I drive for work, which is every day. I have enjoyed these books, and like a kid in a candy store when a new one is out. You will not be disappointed!
  11. Hope Oregon rolls over fs-who
  12. I have no clue. I'm in the same boat...I gotta stop.
  13. Free is even better! Good luck with the seat, hope you find something that will work and be comfortable.
  14. Do more fishing this year than the last few, I hope. Catch one bigger than 5lbs. Show my 2 youngest how to drive the jon boat with the trolling motor so I can spend more time fishing and not driving.
  15. I have the elite3x. Have it on the trolling motor on my jonboat right now. Have not rigged it up on my kayak yet. I use my kayak for inshore/bay sight fishing mainly for specks and redfish. For $100, I am happy with it. It shows what I need in a $100 unit. I knew what I was getting. If you want bare bones, features that work, this is it. If you are looking for more features, keep looking, and dig deeper in your pocket. I have the ram mount for mine. Makes it easy.
  16. I'm about the same weight.... no input on seat selection for perception, BUT, I LOVE the seat in my jackson kayak! It's like sitting in a comfortable lawn chair. I don't think it will adapt....without some cutting and duct tape.
  17. Aqua-vu underwater camera, can't wait to use it on my jon boat. Dsg gift card, ordered a new mojo bass mhf spinning rod.
  18. I want to go, but calling for 15mph winds tomorrow here...Christmas day looks good, around 1-7 mph...must find a way to get out of griswald family dinner...
  19. Get you one of those anchors. I have one on my kayak, but I also have an anchor trolley, works great. I usually use about 30' of rope and holds me just fine in current and wind. I do have a stakeout pole, but it's not that great with wind or current, especially if it's not thick mud on the bottom to get the stake at least a foot in the ground. I would highly recommend some sort of quick release system, and some sort of "bungie" to absorb the shock of waves/wakes, you don't want to rip out whatever you tied your anchor rope to, especially if it's an inflatable....oh, and put a float on the end you tie your rope to your vessel, when you need to quick release, just release and let it float, and pick it up later after the fish has been landed or waves/wakes subside.
  20. ordered some tonight. looking forward to them.
  21. Post up when they are available on your site, please.
  22. I love my leatherman, but don't carry it on me much. I always have a knife on me everywhere, always handy. especially fishing.
  23. 60 yards of 6#? That's more like micro lite...
  24. tw is being swamped right now, lol
  25. All my spinners are penn. This past summer, I bought my son the new conflict, lightweight, sturdy, smooth, very good drag system. It's a great $100 reel. I also have several other models, the new battle 2 has upgraded sealed bearings...for those of us who do fish salt. Can't go wrong with either. The spinfisher v is awesome, but on the heavy side.
