Anyone Use A Leatherman Multi Tool?

Recommended Posts

I got a pair of leatherman shears when i graduated nursing school. Love them. Lots of little tools for my job (ring cutter, sissors etc) anyways thinking abour one for my tackle bag. Just wondered if they are as quality for fisherman as they are for the rn? Sadly mine are missing and like 70 bones to replace.

I love my leatherman, but don't carry it on me much. I always have a knife on me everywhere, always handy. especially fishing.

I keep one in my bag for emergent repairs and a backup when my three year old looses my needle nose pliers over the side.

I keep my old and beloved Leatherman Wave on the boat as an addition to my basic tool kit.  I also carry a Leatherman Micra every day in my pocket.  Great tools!

Tight lines,

Bob

I have a wave I don't carry it as much as I should it's a great tool. I usually prefer a small pocket knife that I carry at all times... obviously it won’t do what a multi tool can do though.

I carry a folder and use pliers + scissors from my backpack. Multitools are too confusing. Sides you have to have a girl's fingernails to pull out all the blades, which I just don't have.

I have a wingman I carry daily, mostly for the pliers and screwdrivers, but not for fishing.  All the tools I need for that are in my boat.

I carry the Gerber version of a multi-tool. It's a backup for emergencies if I need to do something and don't want to dig for a specific tool.

I have a Gerber multi-tool also that I've carried everyday for 15 years. It gets used almost every day.

My leatherman charge ti lives in my pocket. Gets used umpteen times a day fixing boilers (I'm a plumber) unscrewing things, cutting stuff etc. The saw is really handy for little cutting jobs too. The file is great for many things, but for fishing the fine diamond side is a great hook sharpener. I'd feel naked without it!

In all these years, I never knew what you did.  I thought you just fished, lol.

Lol. If those idiots at the lottery would stop picking all the wrong numbers I could fish full time!

I used on a few years ago. Not so much anymore. Wet fingers, and chewed fingernails makes it hard to open all those different things at times. The Boomerang cutter and a pair of pliers is normally the way I go.

I'm pretty certain that somewhere in my boat tool box there is some version of the Leatherman,  I've owned several versions.  Never wore one out, but I have lost several.  For just fishing purposes, the Leatherman Micra gets the nod most of the time.  The scissors can cut braid.  The other tool that I use the most while fishing is the church key.

Theres a multi tool on my belt 100 percent of the time when Im fishing and it gets used  constantly. I like the Leatherman Charge or Wave. The diamond file is a fantastic hook sharpener. I can even quickly touch up trebels with it. I sharpened the mini screwdriver and use it to bust paint out of the eyes of jig heads. Of course the pliers and knife are used a lot.  Ive used the saw to retrieve lures out of trees. Theres even a flashlight in the side pocket.  I also carry a Swiss Army knife "Hiker" to be exact.  I consider these tools must haves for me .

I have a Wave on my belt all the time.  I'm not sure how I got along before without it.
