  1. I'm a land ridden fisherman who enjoys fishing all of the local ponds I can find thanks to Google Maps. One problem I encounter is the accessability of the better looking spots. I fan cast 99% of the time, so I know I am being thorough. And I change presentation and lures whenever I feel confident. I just can't shake the feeling that I am wasting way too much time in one place just hoping a LMB cruises by and wants a snack. Naturally I hit the easy ones first. But my question is: How long should I stay in a single spot if I am not getting bites?
  2. I know I am going to sound dumb for not knowing this, but what is a "lay down"?
  3. I have 3 main setups; Spinning on a 6'6'' M rod with 6 lbs smooth casting Mono Baitcasting 6'6'' M rod with 20 lbs braid Baitcasting 6'9'' MH rod with 20 lbs braid Would It be too much to take one of my baitcasters with a 1/2 Bullet weight T-rig, and my spinning rig with a wacky rig and just used these all morning? Also, should I use a Mono leader on the baitcaster?
  4. A few weeks ago I caught 2 PBs off a spinner-bait, 5 minutes apart, at a local pond. I have only gone to the pond 2 times since then, and cant seem to catch hardly anything. I'm not sure if it is the season changing, or my eagerness to catch more lunkers. I know I can't expect to catch the big ones again anytime soon, but before that I used to catch about 5-6 1 1/2 pounders each trip to make for super fun fishing. I have tried various approaches, both basic techniques and more advanced, but one I can seem to gain confidence in is Texas rigged Senkos. I know it's a staple for most anglers, but I can't seem to get it. When I try it I feel like the bass can't see it or something. I am aware of the videos out there regarding T-rigged Senkos (and other soft plastics for that matter) but still can't gain confidence in it. So I need help. What methods do you use when it comes to T-rigged Senkos? What type of cover, depths, weather conditions, and landscape should I use it around? What is your preferred tackle/lure choices when it comes to the T-rig? I have attached pictures of the pond. Deepest point it about 15 ft.
  5. You'd be better off using the ole youtube.
  6. I want to enter and place in a bank fishing tournament. All I do is bank fish. I haven't heard of any around my area, but maybe when I move back to Texas there will be some.
  7. Try to be objective and evaluate yourself to see if it was YOU. Maybe your overcomplicating things, fishing too fast, or possibly not choosing the right spots. And there is always the possiblity that the fish just aren't biting. Either way, when you get home from a bad trip just go back and think about what you were doing versus what you should have done. Stick with the basics until you get your confidence back.
  8. Any Preference on color or size? I will be fishing a small lake, about 10 acres. The fellow I am going ewith said he crushed them last weekend on a buzzbait, so I figured I would take one to try and see if they were still turned on by it.
  9. Dypsis, Were you able to find any videos? I know I couldn't and I was wondering the same thing! I am very much so a visual learner, I can read the steps for the Bow and Arrow method but until I see it in action I am lost.
  10. You know you can set most home phones to forward calls to another number...say...a cell phone number...
  11. I WISH I COULD! I am a Solider and we dont get to "call in sick". We have to go to sick call and get approved by a physician to stay home if we are contagious. Otherwise, it's back to work sick guy! Now that I think about it, it's kind of dumb. And I am a Medic!!!
  12. I havent really tried buzzbaits in the past, and I plan on doing just that this weekend. I have watched Glenn's videos on buzzbaits, And feel that I have a adequate amount of knowledge to hopefully have some success after a little bit of practice. I am going to buy some at Dicks Sporting Goods tomorrow afternoon and would like some input on what to look for. My questions are; What is YOUR favorite buzzbait? What do you do to it to get it ready for fishing? Skirt, or grub?
  13. I yard fish for sure! And I live in a very busy apartment complex. People drive by and stare at me like im crazy haha.
  14. The wonderful season of Autumn is finally approaching us. As it creeps closer I have found that some people get sad that the summer months are over, while others get excited for the cooler weather and holidays. I know for my situation it is not good due to the fact that my ponds will freeze, and in turn, so will my fishing. The only thing I can do is hope to make the most of this last season in any way I can. What are some of you guys' favorite methods, tactics, techniques, and tips for fishing in the Fall? We all have our preferences. Some might work, while others might not. I want to make this an open share-point for fishermen of all skill levels and styles to talk about what they plan on doing this Fall in order to make the most of the rest of the year before the freeze sets in.
  15. I recently found a few swimbaits on the bank of a pond I fish regularly. They are about 4" long and have a flapping tail, and the hook is coming out of the top of the lure. They are natural colored and weigh about 3/4-1oz. Maybe a strike king live shad style. I honestly don't know where to begin using them though. I haven't gotten hung up on any structure while using crankbaits, or spinnerbaits yet in the past. It's about 10-15 feet deep and leads up to a rocky edge. What method should I use here? Old school chuck and retrieve?
  16. Went to the newly found local pond and caught my personal best, 2 times! 1st one was on my 3rd cast with a spinner bait. the 2nd was about 4 minutes later on the same spinner bait. I do not know the exact weight, but my guess is around 4-5 lbs for both of them. I WILL be getting a scale soon though. I was super pumped! It reminded me why I love fishing so much.
  17. That's exactly why I am only going to clear small paths. This pond seems pretty unknown to the public, hopefully it stays that way too!

  19. I am wanting to weed-eat a few paths around a local pond so accessing fishing spots is much easier. Nothing crazy, just simple 2 foot wide paths to various spots around the pond. My hopes are that I will be able to move around the pond and find the "honey hole" for that day a lot quicker. I plan on doing this on a day where the fishing conditions are already bad and nobody is fishing of course. Has anyone done this before? If so, any tips would be great. How long should I wait after I do this to return to fishing? I know the fish will be spooked for a while from all of the crazy vibrations and sounds.
  20. Not 100% sure but I know it was a 1/2 oz brown and orange jig with a craw trailer. Maybe a Booyah. I was popping it a couple times, then pausing for a couple seconds, then repeating.
  21. Alright, I am doing it! I am going to save up for a GoPro and get some goggles! I will come back here and let you guys know how it went.
