So what do I need, a swimbait hook that is between 5/0-7/0?

Nah, I don't hate cheap swimbaits. I hate swimbaits that don't swim. This Live Minnow I purchased does not swim. It aggravates me. I don't like to buy anything that doesn't function.
  7. Effects on bass? Well, all I can say is, any of the bass Ive ever sprayed never had 'skeeter bites on them.

    But what size swimbait hooks?
  9. Funny you mention that. I actually did exactly that today...exactly that...it only produced 1 dink.

    1. Not needed 2. Already did 3. Already did. Doesnt run true for squat. Maybe I'll just stick with the Rugby heads.

Do these things require a ridiculously large hook, just to run straight?

Well, if they do work, I must not be rigging mine right then. So far Ive only gotten it to swim correctly on a Rugby jig. On the swimbait hooks it did not swim well, and frequently roll over on its side, and just drag through the water. I read a review of a guy who claimed he rigged it weightless and burned it on the surface. Im half inclined to call that man a liar.

Cmon honestly, I find these things to be turds also. In your experience, what has been the best way to rig the 4" Sick fish, so that they dont suck?

    Compound Great fun.
  15. Im really not pleased with these products much at all. At best, Ive found them be slightly below marginal. But recently I picked up a jointed swimbait called the Live Kicking Minnow, in the 5inch, 3/4oz size. Just to see how it might be. Wow, this thing is a complete dud. This product is terrible enough to make a man wonder, how does Storm even release this thing to the public? I really doubt I did anything wrong with this. What are your favorite Storm swimbaits?
  16. You do know, that youre supposed to bounce it off of trees and rocks that are UNDER the water, right?
  17. Ok so, yes indeed, my 3/0 is too small. Makes sense.
  18. <-----Got bit with a spinnerbait today.
  19. Ok, what size/type hooks are you all using for this Shellcraker bait? Tried it out today for the first time, and my 3/0 offset swimbait hooks seemed entirely undersized. Well, the hook would fit fine, but the point would still be buried too far into the plastic, impeding any measure of a hook-set.

Nope. but Ive used fish arrows before.
  21. Hence the term...."secure it."
  22. Nope....Im thinking taking something like a Mepps or Blue Fox spinner, Maybe a No. 5, and just hang the whole thing on the jig hook. put the jig hook right through the eyelet of the spinner and secure it.
  23. Ok, I was eating my pancakes this morning and I had a thought suddenly whoosh into my head. That being....hanging a large inline spinner, on the back of a swim jig. Like using an inline spinner as swim jig trailer. Hmmmm... That's really only the extent of the amount of thought Ive put in to this.
  24. Try to order a spare spool for your reel. Spool it with braid, and swap it out with your other spool as needed.
