Owl Tries To Steal Frog Lure
My girlfriend had a duck "hit" her spinner mid-cast. That was fun to get unhooked. Also have had bats swoop in just as its getting dark. They seem to think flying lures = insects.

A Series Of Unfortunate Steelheading Events
Could have been another notch in the series of unfortunate events today with my first hook easily breaking on a snag (can't imagine what would have happened had I hooked a fish with that hook), but finally stuck one tight. Just a little one, but I'll take it any day of the week over a skunk!

Nice Little Chunk
Thought I was just wasting my time when I got out on the water. Wind was howling like crazy and rain was coming in sideways. Alas, my favourite top water bite was a no-go but did manage a great little chunky fish along with a smaller 12 incher the cast after in the exact same spot. The picture doesn't really do it justice but the belly on this fish was pretty fat. Largest fish of the season so far for me.

Almost Doubled My Pb!!!!!!!
HUGE congrats on such a wonderful fish! Sure you didn't get a picture, but it was an experience that you will carry with you forever.

New Pb Tonight!
Well done! Feels great hooking a fish (and a PB nonetheless!) on a new bait, doesn't it?

A Series Of Unfortunate Steelheading Events
Well, tried my hand at Steelheading again and...there must be something conspiring against me. Hooked a nice one drifting a colorado blade only to have it pop off mid-fight. :/ I rarely lose fish mid-fight like that; usually it's either right at the beginning if I didn't get a good hookset or at the end after a lengthy battle. At the very least no snapped leaders or spread hooks this time though. Maybe the good luck I've had in seasons past is finally catching up to me...

Favorite Fishing Video Game!
Trophy Bass 3D and Rapala Pro Fishing were my favourites! Oh, and also Reel Fishing 2, 3, and Wild. and Championship Bass. And Big Ol' Bass 2 (the one with crazy fictional fish). And (obscure fishing game alert!) Killer Bass. Yeah...I loved fishing games when I was a kid. Collected every one that I saw.

A Perfect 10?
That is insane!! Congrats on a great Easter fish!

You Thought Bass Were Ambitious?
Oh I definitely get your drift! I already have a 7" Savage Gear 3D Trout and an 8" dead-sticking Rainbow Trout swimbait ready to go. I was going to wait until they stocked the lake with Rainbows but I might just toss one out on my next trip as I have caught bass in this exact same spot...

Blech!
You do realize that live squirrels catch double digit bass, right? They were fallen trees along the shoreline and partially submerged along with a bunch of overhanging bushes. I normally wouldn't throw a frog into them but a good bass angler friend of mine insisted there were bass there. They definitely were there, but the key was to cast UNDER the branches After a number of horrible casts the tree had a few new amphibian residents... I think I'll be thinking twice from now on before tossing a frog into a tree unless I'm sure I have a clear shot. 40lb power pro. With the way it got stuck even the 65lb that I use in the summer wouldn't have saved them As it is I'm hoping to get out on a boat soon to retrieve the frogs...if they're still there.

Steelhead Or Rainbow? What Size?
Don't know about where you live but up here, a Steelhead is classified as being 50cm or larger (just under 20 inches). To make a VERY general claim, I've found Steelhead to be more of a slim "bullet" shape while true resident bows are more football-shaped. However this is not a great way to ID between the two; just what I've seen from my experience. If the bows in your area get that big normally, it very well could be a bow. For what it's worth (and I definitely could be wrong), it looks like a Steelhead starting to show its spawning colours.

You Thought Bass Were Ambitious?
Trust me, I wasn't complaining haha. Was definitely great entertainment for a few minutes.

You Thought Bass Were Ambitious?
Went out for another evening of Bass fishing tonight. Got skunked on that front, but just before I decided to call it quits I tied on a Bill Norman Squarebill. Two casts after, I felt a slight tap and set the hook.Once I saw that skinny belly hit the surface I knew it wasn't a bass. Never would I have expected a small Cutthroat like that to hit such a large crankbait. Felt bad as both trebles embedded themselves, but he swam off with no issues whatsoever.

Snapping That Cold Streak
That's awesome! Thanks again for picking the photo and submitting it for me!

Another Pig
Sweet fish man! I'd love to tangle into a fish that size; haven't yet this season. That mouth is a dead give away as to the size of that fish.

Blech!
Ouch! Get well soon! Regarding the lost lures, I know your pain. I lost four hollow body frogs (two Booyahs and two Live Targets) to the SAME TREE. Nearly lost a fifth one last night too...

Snapping That Cold Streak
I am seriously stuck on topwater fishing for Bass. I love the anticipation of a blow-up, I love the blow-up, and I love setting the hook into a bass after a blow-up. I recently got into a very frustrating cold streak as I either kept missing fish or I would just get flat out skunked. I know most people would call me crazy for even considering fishing topwaters up here in Western Canada in March, and would say that my recent cold streak was my own doing. However, I've come to the realization that even if I do get skunked fishing topwater lures, it's much more enjoyable than getting skunked when using any other method. That's not to say that I won't try other techniques; for instance I've been slowly learning how to fish jigs over the last few trips, but it just isn't satisfying for me. Anyways, finally managed to end my cold streak today with a scrappy little 14 incher, on a Snag Proof Mouse to boot! First fish on a Snag Proof and it absolutely demolished it about 15 feet from shore. Now...if only I could break out of this ~14 inch fish slump!

A spinner I put together myself. Meant for trout but I'm not complaining!

The Most Expensive Lure You Lost
I sort of did the same thing. Was tying on a Rooster Tail spinner when my girlfriend hooked into a fish. I ran over to help her in case it was a big fish, thinking the spinner was already tied up and just letting it drop to hang out of my vest. Turns out I never completed the knot and I heard it hit the dock, then saw it slip between the wooden planks and out of sight... I recently lost a Booyah Pad Crasher and a Live Target frog 5 minutes apart from each other to the same tree...
