  1. As you may be able to judge from my profile name, I love senkos. For me, they catch more quantity than quality, but they do catch bigger fish. Obviously, using a larger one helps (6 inch over 4 inch).
  2. From the bank it's a no-brainer. It helps you to be thorough and cover all the water that's there. I'll cast as far as I can and I don't create a geometric half-circle, but I try to be thorough. I will fan-cast an area once if I'm using a soft plastic, and multiple times if I'm using a reaction bait.
  3. Dude, your day was definitely not wasted!
  4. I've heard that the absolute best bait for the spawn is a mix between a topwater and a suspending jerkbait, which of course would be the Rebel minnow type lure. Bobble it just below the surface right over the beds, and you'll get crushed. flukes-if they count as topwater-also work.
  5. Well, for starters I would work the edges with a spinnerbait, lipless, or topwater. Then I would start pitching/flipping. If you're accurate enough, you can pitch into microscopic openings. (Getting the fish out is another story.) Use braid. A heavier frog might do ya better than a lighter one. Getting a kayak or even a float tube might help.
  6. Reading a joke book today. I couldn't help but share the fishing ones: "I caught a 250 pound marlin the other day!" "That's nothing. I was fishing and hooked a lamp from an old Spanish ship. In fact, the light was still lit!" "If you will blow out the light, I'll take 200 pounds off the marlin!" ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ A guy calls his boss and says "I can't come to work today." The boss asks why and the guy says "It's my eyes." "What's wrong with your eyes?" asks the boss. "I just can't see myself coming to work, so I'm going fishing instead.... ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Game warden: "You fishing?" Man without license: "No, drowning worms......" ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Game warden comes up to fisherman without license. "Catch anything?" "Yes, I've got 5 in the livewell." "Do you know who I am?" "No." "The game warden." "Do you know who I am? The biggest liar in the country." ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------- lol
  7. Oh, I don't deny that he's a good fisherman. I just mean that his shows are fake. He says "lines" from a card the camera man is holding, and it just seems rather fake to me.
  8. Nice. That's awesome for your first time. Keep it up.
  9. I'd contact customer service about it, but I highly doubt they'll make you send it back or anything. Enjoy those baits! (Senior special?? )
  10. Can't stand the dude. He fishes in stocked ponds/lakes and is way too professional. He like never catches dinks. That's not real fishing.
  11. I love the looks of the white ones. I'm getting into their products lol.
  12. Good luck man. How big do they get? Kyle
  13. It's a huge pain to do it by hand. I just leave the factory hooks on and touch 'em up with a hone.
  14. Ford vs Chevy, Samsung vs. Apple, Diawa vs. Shimano, Abu vs. Duckett. I personally think it's just your opinion. They're both great companies, both in the same price range, just give your loyalty to one or the other (or both!).
  15. I exclusively use chartreuse/white for my purposes, but in muddy water you will probably want a firetiger, chartreuse, or even red.
  16. Good advice here. One of my ponds has a healthy population (of dinks!), but they seemingly shut off for the winter. I haven't been able to catch very many at all since the cold fronts moved in, where as in summer I could go and catch 4-5. Just wait and see. Nightcrawlers are your best bet for live bait. They'll catch anything from carp to catfish to bluegill to bass.
  17. I would use a 3/4 oz. chartreuse spinnerbait with a large, heavy-duty Colorado blade. Willow blades are meant for faster speed, and Colorado blades are meant for getting a good vibration at slower speeds. Slow is the way to go if you want to go deeper.
  18. Lol I have a cheap rod. I couldn't pass up the price and thought it would do, I wish now I had got a nicer one.
  19. Wait 'till Spring before you decide you give up on a pond.
  20. Firetiger is always a good color choice, ranking up there with red, orange, or chartreuse.
  21. Well, if her husband cared little enough to tell his wife to sell his brand new combo (duh....she wouldn't know how much they go for) then he obviously doesn't have too much financial or sentimental value for it. I wouldn't give it a second thought! I would have gone for 75.
  22. 6'6 MH Casting for lures over 3/8 6'5 M Spinning for lures under 3/8
  23. Hey man, Thanks for sharing these deals. XCaliber Lipless for under two bucks, Smithwick Rogue for 1.69.......wow.
  24. I carry a folder and use pliers + scissors from my backpack. Multitools are too confusing. Sides you have to have a girl's fingernails to pull out all the blades, which I just don't have.
