  1. I have some very small swimbaits and grubs that I pull out in situations like those. Also, I've found an inline spinner to be very effective.
  2. I personally use a CD case, works pretty well.
  3. Nice! I love buzzbait fishing, it's my favorite way to catch fish. I lost a 7+ pounder that I had caught before on a buzzbait last month. Talk about sad and exhilarating! P.S. Are you not allowed to use those boats that are on the side of the pond?
  4. Yeah, the trailer seems to be showing that they'll be focusing on him again in the next show. I'm fine with it.
  5. Yeah, that was impressive. Actually as far as my fishing heroes are concerned, JVD is nowhere close to being on the list. But put him and Brandon on a deep smallmouth lake; they can't be beat.
  6. That's about it for me. I keep going out but all the ponds in my area have shut off since about last week. Can't catch 'em on finesse techniques like dropshot and shakeyheads, can't catch 'em on topwater, can't catch em on cranks, don't even see bass cruising around anymore. They spawned about a month ago, and got out of their postspawn funk about two weeks ago. I whacked em for about a week, then the bite shut off. VERY frustrating.
  7. No, just seen his prowess on northern waters. I got really excited about this event. Usually the players I want are all taken with a high percentage. To have Pirch and JVD as relative dark horses is amazing.
  8. Unfortunately, there's over 50 days until the next B.A.S.S. tournament. The good news is that there's lots of time to do your research and put together a killer roster. Thanks to Havasu, everybody has good practice for this deep-water event. I'm expecting dropshot and jerkbaits to play a big role again this year. My goal for this tournament was to pick guys who,1, did well last year, 2, are good deep water and smallmouth fishermen, and, 3, don't have a huge percentage. Thanks to KVD, Edwin Evers, Takahiro Omori, Brett Hite, and other good anglers who have a cult following in Fantasy Fishing, the guys I wanted to pick are relatively unnoticed so far, quite surprisingly. Bucket A: Cliff Pirch Cannot believe that after a phenomenal tournament dropshotting at Havasu that only 0.5% have picked Pirch. He is an amazing deep water fisherman and I have every confidence that he will crush the St. Lawrence river bass. And he finished third here last year. Bucket B: Jonathon VanDam JVD finished second last time here. He's good with electronics, dropshotting, deep water, smallmouth, and spinning rods. Perfect fit. Can't believe he's at only 2.1%, crazy good deal for him. Thanks to fan favorites like Timmy Horton, Greg Hackney, and Bobby Lane, I'm getting a stellar bargain. On northern lakes, it's hard to not go with JVD. Bucket C: Brandon Palaniuk Won it last year, has done reasonably well this year, and I am willing to bet he's gonna get a top twelve in this one at the very least. As is to be expected, he has high ownership, but I am sticking with him nonetheless. Fits all my criteria and won it last time on top of it. Bucket D: Tommy Biffle Couldn't really find someone who was a great match. Tommy Biffle finished 35th last year, he's a river rat, and I just decided to bet on him. Bucket E: Chad Pipkens Finished 10th last year, had a great tournament. In bucket E, that's a good chance. I think he'll do well again. What did you come up with? Good luck on your rosters, guys.

You, my friend, have a keen grasp of the obvious!
  10. I'd start early and chuck a buzzbait first thing, then switch to a popper/frog.
  11. Well, didn't drop that low although I had a lousy tournament. Kevin Hawk and Kelly Jordan didn't do well. Brian Snowden at least made the cut. Brett Hite and Keith Combs saved my butt. Dropped a little into 95%.
  12. Super-fancy restaurant? Weekend at a bed and breakfast? All kinds of ideas, just be creative.
  13. MattLures stuff is so cool. I scrolled through his website yesterday. He's got a 14-inch dead stick trout bait that looks super sick. Everything he makes is amazing. Unfortunately I neither have the proper equipment nor the money to get into swimbaits
  14. Can't go wrong with those, my friend!
  15. The farther bass get over 6-7 pounds, usually the less pretty they get. Not so with that one. Not that I wouldn't consider a double digit fish prett, but typically the grossly fat fish aren't as gorgeous.
  16. Gorgeous fish. Nice job!
  17. My most photogenic fish? The 7 3/4 pounder that I didn't get pics of
  18. This is a good thread!
  19. Lucky Ducky. Hope you rip some sizeable lips..........
  20. Funny.
