  1. Thanks for all your answers.
  2. Thanks, that is not too bad.
  3. Can one of you tell me roughly the going rate to ship a rod if I were to sell it on this site? I have a tube from Tackle Warehouse it would be shipped in.
  4. I would look into some Bass Pro rods & reels. I have had good luck with them and the reel parts are easy to get abd cheap if things ever need replaced. Some 15# Seaguar Red Label would be good budget line to try for plastics.
  5. I agree with Stratos on that. Its why they make that cheap red Cajun line...for backing
  6. Went fishing with a friend who accidentally bought the circle octopus hook for weightless fluke fishing. He couldn't hook anything because he could not stop himself from setting the hook. Once he switched to the regular octopus hook he was fine. I guess it would take some getting use to just reeling up the slack.
  7. That line looks like mine, but I don't think its a problem. KVD is the best I've used and I've tried a few with all of them being oily as heck.
  8. Everyone's favorite the St Croix Mojo Bass rod is crazy tip heavy.
  9. ChrisD, I would try it on one rod for sure. I cannot fish a rod that is not balanced anymore. Its the 1st thing I do. It seems to make casting easier too and just the overall handling of the rod.
  10. Thanks everyone for all the responses. I dropped my line to 10# InvizX and added some small nail weights. The rod is M action and with the exposed octopus hooks I don't really need to kill the hooksets. Hopefully I can report back after this weekend with my results.
  11. Montanaro, so what you are saying is that they are heavier than the zoom brand? I have t-rigged flukes a lot and found that the action is better just tipping it with an octopus or finesse hook.
  12. I guess I never saw the light until this past weekend. I've always been a senko guy. I was fishing it weightless with an exposed Gama octopus hook rigged about a 1/4" down the head. Wow, it was deadly. I was thinking of the best ways to add just a little weight to better throw them on a baitcaster. An ideas would be appreciated. I want to keep the same hook setup and plan on using 10# fluoro with a 6'9" medium action rod. I did buy some nail weights.
  13. I just use a wet soapy rag. I even wax my rod n reels, but I'm ridiculous don't be like me. Some may say "anal"
  14. When you go to throw overhand start by twisting your wrist inwards so the line flow is up & down on the spool and not side to side. That helps too if you are just beginning.
  15. Ha ha, thats funny so do I. Probably takes me 20min before I pick one.
  16. I believe the Lews LFS is only 6.9oz. It is very tiny too I would go with that one. I've gotten so used to fishing with sub 6oz reels that anything over about 7.5oz feels like dead weight.
  17. Hoosier, I will never wear white sunglasses..too Jersey Shore for me
  18. How light is light? Carbonlite would fall in that category
  19. If that doesn't work call BPS Outdoor World in Springfield, MO and order a new pawl and worm gear and change them out. Probably cost you $10-15. Seems like the 1st parts that go out on BPS reels. It has happened to me twice in the last couple of yrs.
  20. I was considering buying a sheet and cutting my own carbon drag washers. Is there much weight savings in this? I would imagine replacing 2 stock washers with carbon washers there could be significant weight savings...maybe close to 1/2oz. DVT, do you have any idea on this?
  21. A 5" senko can be flung a country mile with baitcasting gear even on 15# line.
  22. I like shorter rods in 6'6" range for kayak fishing. Also rods that have the shorter butt end. If I was able to stand it would be a different story for rod length.
  23. My 6'8" ghost works well on cranks up to about 1/2oz. Very responsive and sensitive
  24. BassPatrol247, what kind of paint do you use..aluminum paint? Do you prep the surface? Does it flake off? I would be interested in doing a drag star, tension knob, etc. At least would try on a cheaper reel to start.
  25. I think they are awesome for the price, but I am not a guy who has ever fished with a $200+ rod.
