  1. Unless you are tournament fishing for a living or have gobs of money to burn then I think its pointless. You can get a lot of nice rods for 100-120 they will do the job.
  2. Yes, anything 7' and MH action on up always seems to get tip heavy. I balanced a Quantum Smoke last night. I'll try to remember to post a pic tonight. It can almost pass for a custom job.
  3. Yeah, the furniture end caps with some quarters work well and don't hurt a thing.
  4. Yep, + the smaller LFS profile, 1/2oz lighter, added hook keeper. Friend of mine has one and said its a phenomenal reel.
  5. Well mine s*cked it was the tournament ZX. I've heard good things about the Prodigy and Verano.
  6. My Veritas micro is built like a tank and will do whatever you need it to do. I agree with most though with Abu's power ratings on this model. My M action is more like a MH action.
  7. I just ordered a LFS on Amazon for $79 and have heard nothing but good things about them. That would be a huge step up from a Black Max. I think I saw the Tournament MB on Amazon as low as $105.
  8. Simichrome seems to polish anything. That's the best I have found.
  9. Match it up with a quantum smoke imo. I think I got mine for just a tad over $100 on Amazon. The reel is already light might as well keep the whole setup light. I think my 6'9"MHF goes 3.5oz.
  10. I'll be taking a reel apart here soon that has hot sauce in it. I'm going to take some pics and post them. I'm curious how its holding up now. I am interested in trying some Suber Lube synthetic.
  11. I do not like how bad the red stains everything. You gotta be careful on your counter tops
  12. I think your fine with the Hot Sauce. I've been using it for years with no issues.
  13. We will be saying 10:1 before too long.
  14. Something from here would do the job http://www.mudhole.com/rod-building/handles-grips/butt-caps-fighting-butts
  15. Darren, the long butt getting caught on the PFD is annoying in the kayak. Why we go shorter...but we've been through this rippin-lipps, who did you call for this?
  16. If its just a straight cork handle then it will be easy.
  17. Go on Mudhole tackle I believe Fuji has a kit like that. Bass Pro has a kit also(that is bulky).
  18. Nothing wrong with the original TP for $119. Thats a steal!
  19. Smaller LFS frame and 1/2oz lighter. I want one!
  20. I use my fluoro for more than one season, but just refresh it with some KVD. I have not had any issues.
  21. So, you guys are doing the worm gear with oil and not having any issues? I know when you buy a reel its overloaded with grease on the worm.
  22. I've done several of my reels. Its a lot of labor for a low cost IMO. Almost easier to just send off your reels.
  23. Avoid the cheap FC lines I had that same problem. I tie the knot most of the way then dunk it in the water before I cinch it down. I wish I could agree with Bluebasser on 10# test for single hook applications, but last week I had two break offs on the hookset. I stay in the 12-15# range for t-rigging.
  24. $350?? How many do you get for the price?
  25. Amazon has the 600yd spools in clear color in 6 & 8# test for cheap.
