Kastking Stealth review
Wanted to share with you all my opinion of the reel. I have not fished with it yet, but did break it down a bit. And this review is coming from a guy that doesn't use top of the line gear. I'm using reels from $100-$130 on average. First off the pros: Cheap $45 on Ebay! light, smooth, quiet, super nice oversized carbon fiber handle, nice spool, drag feels smooth Now the Cons: The carbon frame feels cheap. Thumbar and front cover is cheap plastic, reel has a tall bulky feel on the rod like the size of reels from 8-10yrs ago. Somebody with bigger hands would have no issues with it's size. Overall, well worth the money and would make a good starter or backup reel. The handle alone is worth $45 imo. If they downsized the reel and used better material on the thumbar and front cover I can see giving $80 for it.

BPS Titanium 8
The Titanium 8 looks to be a very nice cranking reel. I'm not a fan the the combos BPS attempts to put together. A Lews MB on a cheap graphite rod doesn't work for me.

Abu Garcia Black Max
I don't need another reel, but every time I'm at Walmart I look at the newest MAX3 ones. Seem very smooth and nice for $50.

Got a Japanese Reel!
Cool. 5.1 ratio was a burner back then!

Casting reel size question
Lews LFS $79 on Ebay. I don't think there is a more compact reel. I have handled pretty much all of the reels at BPS. Abu Revos probably sit as low on the rod as the LFS, but are wider and much pricier. When people say Speed Spool that could mean pretty much any Lews. Look for it to say "LFS" on the reel. Pretty much all the new models are going to the LFS version.

Buying my first baitcaster...
I agree with WdyCrankbait on the line. 12# seems like the sweet spot and buy a limp line.

Buying my first baitcaster...
BPS had the Curados for $99 last Spring Sale. I heard lines were wrapped around the building in St Charles.

A Curado is more than enough reel to learn on. Ya'll got too much money to burn!!!

What's a good fluorocarbon line
Shooooooot Junyer, I get a couple yrs out of my lines doing the same exact thing you're doing. I don't fish more than 15-20 trips a year though. Haven't noticed any issues yet.

Shooo is fancy looking, but not for 5 bills.

What makes a finesse reel?
I'm with you. I don't even bring spinning gear with me when I fish anymore. A fluke on a weightless hook is not a problem. 1/8th I don't think I could do.

What makes a finesse reel?
Anything below a 1/4th oz I just pick up my spinning reel. Serious question: when did baitcasters become popular with finesse fisherman? Seems like more hassle than it's worth. Can you get a cast out there more than 10yds? Are their reels that can cast down to a 1/16th oz? My finesse setup has 10# test to throw weightless flukes and other plastics.

Painting a reel
Oh I'm just doing the front cover in matte black just wasn't sure if you would use a primer. I wanna do it only once and the right way so it don't chip easy.

J Francho, maybe I took your post the wrong way too. I apologize myself.

DVT question
Hi, I always buy a reel and take it apart and do a semi tune. I polish the spool shaft and ends. I remove the pinion and polish the inside and out with a dremel and semichrome. If I'm just focusing on the spool, is there anything else I need to polish that will be beneficial? Again, not looking to do a full supertune. Thanks.

Berkley E-motion Casting Rod
I like my Emotion rod. For 39 bucks that's a steal. Much lighter than the Shock for sure. At the 80 retail price I'm sure you can find a better rod. At 39 it's worth grabbing two of them.

Rustoleum for plastic?- Painting a reel
Looking to paint just the front cover on a reel. The piece that wraps around the line guide and pawl. They are usually plastic and can be taken completely off. What kind of paint would you guys recommend? It will be done in just the typical flat black matte color to match the reel. Plan on using spray paint and making this a quick job, nothing too crazy. - Painting a reel
