  1. I know here in maine a lot of ponds have had bass introduced (illegally ofcourse) it's pretty bad. to the point where transporting live fish is illegal. the reason it's illegal is because the newly introduced species could decimate another. in my case the once "trout only" ponds now have smallmouth and they have put a dent in the native trout population. I love that i can fish for bass in these ponds and rivers but i understand that it wasn't meant to be this way. when a stocked body of water gets really bad the department of fisheries can go as far as draining to start over compleatly. The worst part is that doesn't always work, it happened to a pond here in maine TWICE 5 years ago. and there are STILL smallmouth.
  2. i've had most success fishing between the hours of 2pm and 7pm in the fall. at least when it comes to smallmouth. but i'll ushually go early morn like 6am-11am or the usual 2pm-7 or 8pm. if summer time, even later.
  3. hey jeff you've got me convinced, I want mine to last forever. it sounds cheaper too, any web sites that do it very well if not the best?
  4. cool man good luck! fish the st. john river if you get a chance
  5. I've seen many real fish mounted and was wondering what steps would i have to take in getting my "trophy fish" mounted. The real fish, not a mold... any suggestions as to where i should have it done? I just want to know for future refrence, I dont currently have a fish to get mounted.
  6. there we go haha. thanks, wish amazon had this chart. but now i know.
  7. i'm deff getting the lure though. i'm looking at the 10ft diving one. cant wait to try it.
  8. lol dude i remember that haha that was gold!
  9. Does anyone know if the rapala DT series crank baits float? i'd like to know before making a purchase.
  10. nice feedback guys, maybe some of it will come into play next time im fishing in the rain haha.
  11. ddn't think to check there haha. i'll give it a try.
  12. word, good looking out man.
  13. yea man i bet, i'll keep digging though haha.
  14. the river i fish often is extremely cold right now. if you're fishing a river for small and the water is cold you'll probably get bit using tubes and other soft plastics that you can drag across the floor. other than that lipless cranks and slow-rolled spinnerbaits.
  15. just checked cabelas and bass pro shops. nope, just fat free shads. i think the Fat A is discontinued and thats why only online outlet type places have them.
  16. i ddn't check cabela's, bass pro, or dicks thinking the price would be high. walmart doesn't have them but the link allen posted has them for 5$, much better than the 11$ i was seeing on ebay.
  17. cool cool, good to know. I'm definately looking forward to getting a bite on one of my football head jigs.
  18. thanks a lot tho, if i cant find any other colors I'll get that one to start off.
  19. yea man, thats not bad. I'm gonna see if they have any other colors tho.
  20. yea man ebay has the vintage ones for like 11$ i'm just looking for a normal one.
  21. caught a 4lb small 3 weeks ago, im guessing the water was between 15-20 feet deep. If you ask me the fall bite is on, just taking its time. i went out this weekend and got skunked and the water was 2x as cold as when i caught that 4 pounder. I'm thinking of using some deeper diving/sinking baits as well as drop-shotting and swimming jigs.
  22. Does anyone know where i can get a bomber "FAT A" crank bait for as cheap as possible? i've found some on ebay but the price is kinda stiff on them. i just want to do some bargin hunting before i break down and get it there.
  23. So far all of my bites this fall have been from bomber crankbaits and green pumpkin tru-tungsten worms. what have you had luck with this fall? I hear spinnerbaits are a good choice too, i havent had any luck with mine yet.
  24. you guys are having some great times during the rain lol, idk what it is but i'm going to keep trying. here in maine the waters are really cold too, that could be affecting the mood of the smallmouths im after as well. i've tried crankbaits, spinnerbaits, jerkbaits, and a whole lot of other things. from the replies i'm hearing topwater in a light rain can be good, as well as spinnerbaits and soft plastics. I'll have to give it a more thorough try the next time im caught in the rain. any other lures/techniques that do well in rain and cold water temps?
