  1. I'm talking about that guys 4.9:1 reel that currently is essentially 100 bones sitting in a closet.
  2. I also use a Q-Tip to check guides for knicks on my rods. I take the spool off my casting reels, try and clean every surface on the frame. Drop of oil on the the worm gear and the bar that the line guide rides on, and on the spool shaft (no oil on the magnetic side) used sparingly. Hope your cleaning goes well. When done right, home maintenance can make a reel last a lifetime.
  3. Depends on the technique. It's not as easy to find a 6'6" Heavy Xtra Fast rod, but a 6'6" Medium or Medium Heavy is to hard to find. I use a lot of 6'6"-7' rods because I fish in close quarters shallow cover, the 6'6" rod works great for that.
  4. The reels are ok but weren't my favorites. On sale or used, which can be found often, the rods are an amazing value. A lot of performance for not a lot of bucks. I love all of my BPS rods.
  5. Reel Exterior: Rubbing Alcohol on Q-Tips (Disclaimer, Do NOT Get Near the Gears with this stuff!!) Cork Handle: Rubbing Alcohol on a small cloth. You will see the dirt and grime, it's crazy to think. Blank: Pledge Polish, Meguiar's or Mother's Wax
  6. This thread is done. This is all one will ever need.
  7. Shaw gives the same boring show for 30 minutes each week. MLF is fun to watch and so is FOF. I don't care about informative, I just want to like watching it...
  8. Check http://www.overstockbait.com/ They usually have some Uncle Josh Jarred Baits.
  9. You ever tried the Bill Lewis Echo 1.75? They are flat sided with the same rattle profile as a 'Trap.
  10. He said he didn't want to know Pop v. Walk.
  11. Shad Raps, Berkley Flicker Shad and Minnows, Strike King Lucky Shad are the only ones I can think of. Don't like your square bills? Package 'em up and ship 'em off to me!
  12. I can't tell you anything specific to Brookeville, but a Rock Crawler or Wiggle Wart would be a good starting point. I would just go based on current conditions and your best knowledge of baits for the conditions and locations for the conditions. Good luck! Also, take a moment to welcome yourself to the rest of the board in the Introductions Sub-Forum! Good to see another fellow Hoosier! Plenty of us here on these boards.
  13. Nice! Would love to have my own private water like that!
  14. Nice day! Let us know if that continues to work your next time out!
  15. I've heard a few times on this site that just about any 4-5' bait nose hooked, Texas, or wacky rigged on a good hook in the right DOW and area will catch fish. So when you are thinking about DS'ing, the choice of lure is probably one of the least important factors.
  16. Well, I guess I'm chime in. Hope I don't sound to young and naive, but here goes. I'm a better BANK angler than you! I've fished for 13 years, all from the bank of reservoirs small and large. Learned shallow water fishing at it's finest. I've learned the best bank casting angles, how to parallel the shoreline, look for small differences in cover and structure, with only a handy pair of polarized glasses - no electronics. Caught my personal best, nearly 7 lbs, on a shallow flat adjacent to deeper water and near a small creek with my eyes, no down or side imaging, no sonar, just a handy pair of glasses. Anyone can say they are a better deep water structure fisherman than me, but I'll give anyone a run for there money in fishing shallow structure and cover.
  17. Casting show's Harrison Ford will have some sort of role in Episode 8. I would think as a Force Ghost.
  18. I enjoyed Hateful 8. IMO Inglorious is his worst movie.
