  1. Ok, great. Thanks for the information. I figured you meant water temps but wasn't sure. I really haven't been out fishing but a handful (as in like 5) times this year which is just plain sad. My goal for next year is to be ok the water or in the field 100+ times in 2017, so it's going to take some effort. In other news I think we should plan an India-no-place meetup for 2017. We could do an annual, bi-annual, or seasonal meet up if you guys wanted to do a few. It would be a neat thing to get together, eat, and talk fishing, trucks, sports, whatever. I'm on the west side in the burbs about 20 minutes out from the heart of downtown, but I'd be willing to travel about an hour or so for this. Somewhere in the Central indy area would be best, and I'm more available Saturday evenings than anything else. Just let me know what you guys think of this and any ideas of a good place to have a meet!
  2. Not all of these are fishing related but here goes 1) Organize a meet up of the local Indianapolis area guys. 2) 8+ Green Fish 3) 5+ Smallmouth Green Fish 4) Be on the water or in the field for 100+ days 5) Pick Up My Guitar again and practice 10 hours a week 6) Read At Least 1 Book A Month 7) 3.7 GPA for my first semester of college next fall Add: I'd also like to start a fishing and field journal so if anyone has any tips or can point me in the right direction with some thread links that would be greatly appreciated.
  3. This right here. Every fancy trick in a magazine isn't useful unless I apply it to my situation, and sometimes the new trend in the magazines or on the TV won't work for my specific circumstances. Sometime you just have to learn a body of water.
  4. Merry Christmas from the Hoosier state. Currently in Jax so the weather's strange but the Hoosier Christmas spirit won't leave me. Have a safe holiday weekend all.
  5. Merry Christmas from the Indiana guy currently in Jax. Kinda weird to be in the 70's on Christmas Eve ?
  6. Stupid question, but to clarify... When you say temperature, are you talking air or water? Thanks.
  7. Right, I don't know as much on GMC, but IMO older American trucks (pre 2008) are probably a little more reliable. What worries me is that the mileage is SO LOW. Not driving a truck and not getting the chance to heat up the engine can actually be a bad thing IMO. Is it an extended cab?
  8. I have to say I was really not interested in American's either, but this deal was good. Have you KBB'd the truck?
  9. Howdy folks, Quite a few of the regulars here know me already, but it has been quite a while since I have been active on these forums. Lately I have been very busy with school, especially with the college and scholarship application process, which has been very stressful, as well as with work and swimming, which is fixing to kick into high gear. I haven't been on these forums since about April, and haven't been fishing since then either. In that time period I have started a new job working as a park groundskeeper and I have gotten myself into a new truck (there is a thread about the tuck in the Everything Else subforum). I probably won't be able to fish until early 2017, but with the way things are shaping up it looks like my hard work now is paying off, and I should have plenty of time to spend fishing next year. I look forward to getting to see what has been going on around here, as well as hitting the water sometime soon. Glad to be back, Hoosier
  10. Right. I did have the spark plugs addressed because my mechanic friend made me aware of this. A friend of mine who has an '05 told me about the tranny problem, but said his happened at 80k so it is possible I got a good one. Thanks for the info!
  11. Thanks! She drives really nice so hopefully continues to run well. Had her checked out by a friend who is a mechanic and he said all checks out. Just put in brand new spark plugs and oil, filters, ect. As for stereo, got the head unit and front door speakers in. Doing back doors tommorow. Easy as pie
  12. Pulling out the factory stereo to put in the new head unit.
  13. Yes I do. I really wasn't interested in a Ford but the deal was too good to pass up. I'll post interior pics tonight
  14. Just got a new (to me) pickup truck! I was driving a Toyota Corolla and it was nice but I like the pickup! I was looking for a Tundra but a coworker of mine had a 2004 F-150 w/118k miles, mostly highway, w/no damage or anything. Because we were friends and he has a newer truck he drove more he gave it to me for $3,500! Looks impeccable. Put $300 into tune ups and have some upgrades planned for it soon. Hopefully I am starting work on putting in a new stereo tonight!
  15. That was some really crazy weather Central Indy had last night. I think it went through all 4 seasons in about 8 hours. Still snow on the ground this morning. That ought to mess with the fish patterns pretty good. I might get out this afternoon if I can find my winter hat and dig it out. I'm still trying to find a place where I can try on a pair of fingerless gloves or some sort of glove with a finger alot, that hopefully don't soak up water and get cold.
  16. Check out my profile for any information on where I am online.
  17. When there are heavy stormfronts that come through in spring, it can really mess things up. The day after a stormfront are usually my worst days so I'm interested to hear answers.
  18. Welcom from West Central Indiana. Do get into the discussion on the Hoosier board!
  19. Welcome from West Central Indy. Check out the Hoosier's thread in the Northeast Subforum!
  20. Here is a good starter kit to use. I would start here and then I would start to try and pick up with certain nuances on your own... "The fish eat x better when y." "I like to fish x bait on y rod and reel." Everyone has there own preferences and each body of water has it's own quirks that you learn. Like, if you learn the forage base is x or y. Take knowledge from everywhere, but only apply what is relevant. Obviously Kentucky Lake Ledge fishing will not be applicable to your situation. The first thing I would do is watch these videos. They are a simple tutorial and offer well explained starting points. Next I would look at this guide from F&S on baits for small bodies of water. I still continue to reference at as a guide and I have been fishing for over a decade. http://www.fieldandstream.com/articles/2014/08/bait-guide-how-to-catch-bass-in-any-pond Finally here is a guide on breaking down a small body of water like the one you mentioned. http://www.outdoorlife.com/articles/fishing/2007/09/farm-pond-bass Like I said, use these as a starting point so you can hit the ground running. Also, don't get too frustrated. The main point of fishing for most of us is to have fun. You will get skunked, you will lose fish, you will break line. You can't let yourself get frustrated or it will be no fun. The learning curve and the challenge are what make this sport exciting. Along with the big bass of course!
  21. This particular track is electric only, no nitro. So at least I've already got 1 decision made.
  22. After the last few fronts I have noticed more fish being caught post front on the West side of where I am fishing.
  23. So, this is probably a pretty obscure topic but I thought I would ask about it here as I know literally nothing about RC stuff. But, a local park is building an Off Road RC Track and I am thinking about getting a truck to race on it. Some of these trucks are pretty expensive. I want to get a truck that I could be competitive with in organized Off Road races but I also want to be reasonable on what I spend... around $150 or so... Anybody on these boards knowledgeable about RC who could give me a starting point to look at and what I should look for in one of these toys?
