  1. Yeah it's been good for me. I've never fished a jerkbait much until this year. The fishing forecast makes it sound like a big numbers lake but I usually only catch one or two from a couple different spots off the bank. 3 1/2 lbs is the biggest I've got out there. Did catch a 4 lb saugeye last year though.
  2. Fished the North lake in Garnett for about an hour today from the bank. I started out fishing a wiggle wart and didnt get a bite in 30 minutes. Switched to a jerkbait and started catching them on the exact same casts that they were ignoring the crankbait. Caught 3 in about 30 minutes and had a good one come off before i got a look at it. They all looked fat and healthy.

  4. I grew up fishing farm ponds and the only bait I ever used was a 7 inch ribbontail worm. Texas rigged with a light bullet weight. You want the bait to fall slow like a foot every 2-3 seconds. Its too light to throw on a baitcaster and get that slow fall back then I was just fishing it with a zebco. Now it's on spinning gear. Just cast at obvious stuff like laydowns, shady spots with overhanging limbs and the outside edge of weed lines are the best. Cast It and let it sink to the bottom then hop it a foot or two at a time back to the boat. Caught a lot of fish for me.
  5. This is my 14ft flatbottom. I drug it out of the weeds and bought it from a guy that hadn't fished out of it in years. It leaked terrible and all the wood was rotten. New transom, some silicone and some flex-seal lol and it don't leak anymore. I built the casting deck out of 2×4s and old aluminum road signs. Yeah its red neck. This is a picture I took of my brother and his friend fishing out of it.
  6. I live five minutes from the lake and would like to fish with you guys at the fish off, if that would be alright. I have a trolling motor powered flatbottom so I would likely just be beating the bank near the boat ramp
  7. Chatterbait Hollow body frog T rig 7 inch ribbon tail worm Black buzzbait Soft body swimbait
  8. Picked up another sexy swimmer and two king shads for 12$
  9. I just picked up a strike king sexy swimmer for 4$ at academy in Wichita falls tx. What are some opinions from guys that have or still use this bait? If there worth a darn I May go back and pick up a couple more since I'm on vacation and not sure if my local academy in kc has these same lures for this price.
  10. The first time I fished one I thought man this thing feels heavy for the 3/4 oz rating. I did some reading on some other threads where guys were saying the 8.0 actually weighs about 1.5 oz. I haven't weighed one myself but that seemed more accurate for the way it felt when fishing
  11. I fish mine on a 7 ft mh bps graphite rod and 20lb mono. The 8.0 is big and weighs around 1.5oz
  12. Fished Richmond city lake today from 12-230. Didn't catch any fish but at least I got to fight the wind. It was blowing so hard I couldn't keep the the 14 ft Jon boat in one spot just dragging anchor across the bottom. Threw Crankbaits on the dam. Threw a spinnerbait around the flooded weeds and flipped a jig in some trees. Even threw a frog in some shallow weeds but no luck. Water was dirty from all the rain and the bite was definitely off. I didn't want to leave without catching a fish but my wife's attention span was running out after 21/2 hrs without a bite.
  13. I read a few pages back that most of the lake was ice covered, i wonder if the same is true for the cooling pond. Hope to make it over there on saturday or sunday to take advantage of this nice weather, cabin fever is setting in haha
  14. Has anyone fished the cooling pond at la cygne. It looks like about 20 acres of fishable water before it dumps into the main lake. Im a new poster but ive been lurking for several years. Reason im asking about the cooling pond is because im fishing out of a 14 ft jon boat with a trolling motor on the back. Dont think i need to attempt fishing the main lake with a trolling motor only.
