  1. Those are pretty good, but I think you should sand them so you can work out some of the bumps. I would paint the crankbait black on top with silver/white sides for a shad pattern, the popper I would paint black on top, white on bottom, with some red on the bottom as well to simulate injury, and the topwater I would paint green on top with black spots and a white bottom.
  2. Is there any chance I could snap a heavy action 7ft 6in flippin stick on the hookset? I have already broken one rod this year, and I certainly don't want my only other one, my flippin stick, to break also.
  3. I mostly just use a steady retrieve without any hops because that's how I catch fish. It's just a confidence thing for me, but sometimes I do use hops and jerks, but I don't know if it makes a difference or not.
  4. I have an Ambassadeur 5500.
  5. My experiences have shown me that no matter how pressured a pond is, you will still always catch bass because every year there are new ones. The only problem is that eventually you will only catch small bass because the bigger ones have grown wise to most lures and presentations. The end result: A pond loaded with trophy bass that are practically uncatchable. If this happens at your golf ponds, you can always use live bait. Even the wisest bass won't turn down real food.
  6. I wouldn't want a lot of pressure on the ponds either, so I would have lied. It's not too bad if you don't know the person. I say protect your fishing grounds.
  7. If you 're not holding it like this----> and didn 't catch it on rod and reel it don 't count. Raul, how did you get a hold of a pic of Hale?
  8. I voted yes but I kind of have mixed feelings. It would be cool to get it certified, but I might not want to go through the hassle. Guess I'll cross that bridge when I get there, if I get there. A state record would be pretty tough.
  9. I know that with jigs, bass don't hang on very long so you have to set the hook right away, but what about a t-rigged worm? Will the bass still engulf one of these instantly requiring the same instant hookset as with a jig?
  10. All I can say is find a really deep dropoff with cover present and cast that deep diving crankbait. You can also try a c-rigged worm, but make sure you fish it both down and up the dropoff.
  11. Thanks for the help. I will definitely post my results. I am pretty confident I will catch a lunker because this is a small, private lake that holds a lot of big fish, and only the people who live on it know about it. Just last week some guy caught a 9lb bass by casting a t-rigged worm into a hole in the pads, so I figure if I flip I can catch a few.
  12. Keep fishing. Everyone hits a plateau sometimes. In time you will come out of it and start catching bass again. Don't stop.
  13. I'll finally be using my new flippin' stick this weekend. It's my first time trying this technique and I have a few questions. 1. Should I have my drag tightened down all the way? 2. Is flipping just a mid-day type of technique, or will it work in the evening too? 3. Since I'm using 50lb braid, should I horse the fish out of the cover as quickly as possible or let him play around? I'll probably get out on the water at around five and start flipping. It's private lake here in Florida and loaded with big bass. I'll be using a Zoom Baby Brushhog. I guess I'll know when I have fish because I'll see my line jump or move to the side, or the fish will practically yank the rod out of my hands right? Also I understand that with flipping I should set the hook IMMEDIATELY? If any of you could answer these questions and share some of their tips it would be very helpful to me. Thanks
  14. I was bank fishing one time and almost stepped on a moccasin. I was about five feet from him and he bolted out and headed for the water. I got real lucky. Usually moccasins are extremely irritable and bad tempered.
  15. It should be a lot better. You can probably kill them on topwaters.
  16. Does that foot long buzzbait really catch bass, or do you catch one on a worm and then put the buzzbait in his mouth and fight it?
  17. Cold water is definitely tougher.
  18. That's a pretty cool video. Hopefully I'll catch a big bass like some of those some day.
  19. Try skipping a zoom horny toad or other soft-plastic topwater frog under docks.
  20. Lake El Salto or Stick Marsh Farm 13.
