  1. Although climate and geographical location are bound to be major factors, and that there are multiple ares that fit the bill for a world-record bass in both departments, I think we should instead put more brainpower and thought into what type of lake or water body has the best chance of breeding a 25 lb beast. We shouldn't stop at "the lake will be small and private", or "It will be a massive body of water". What type of structure will be prominently featured in this lake? What will the topography be like on the lakes bottom? Do you think it will be a lake where it is mostly 25 feet deep, or a South Florida style with depths rarely plunging below 10? What other species will be found is this lake? Will it be a California style trout stocked ecosystem, or will other baitfish such as gizzard shad or bluegill be the main forage for large bass? Once we can decide on a consensus for these answers (which there very well may be none), we can then turn to geography and other factors such as fishing pressure to slim down the list of fisheries that fit the profile we created by answering these questions. I personally think the lake will be no more than 100 acres in size, but more than 10. I think the lake will contain a large amount of deep water, to protect bass from the heat we have mentioned to be so brutal in the top locations for a wr bass, allowing the fish to have an extended life span. I believe it will be a trout stocked lake, such as the ones out in Cali. The one exception to this is the fish wil have to be a pure bred Florida Strain, which is becoming rarer and rarer each year, but I think still exist in some places. The lake cannot be to large, becuase we have to remember that growing the fish is only half the battle, and that tricking the bass into biting, and bringing it to the boat is still an issue.
  2. But don't expect an 8" deluxe to catch 500 10lb bass by itself.
  3. I guess you could say that you are a lucky guy
  4. Does anyone on here use the Havoc Pit Boss or RI Sweet Beaver as trailers? If so, what sizes do you use?
  5. Swimbait has a different meaning to different people. Do you mean Big baits like Huddlestons and Deps, or soft swimbaits like the Keitech or the Big-EZ?
  6. Bluebug and 24/7 are some of my favorites.
  7. I was watching Bass Dr. and they were fishing Guntersville using Boyd Duckett's new jerkbait with what looked to be pretty good results. They look pretty nice, and very similar to the Vision 110. What are your thoughts on it?
  8. With or without rattles?
  9. You really cannot go wrong with smithwick, or you can try out the new shadow raps.
  10. When people refer to the newest model, are those the model that TW is selling now?
  11. There was a point last season that for a week in mid april they would only bite Magic Shads. Give them a shot on the jig head they sell the rigged version with.
  12. My two biggest of the year were caught on a T-Rigged Powerbait 10" worm in black w/ blue flake.
  13. 7 Seibert Jigs, Fenwick HMG Spin rod and a tatula hl. Still need to get some bait and another casting rod.
  14. Thanks everyone!
  15. I also use a lake fork magic shad. They have good action and a good variety of colors.
  16. If you could find a tube big enough, that sounds deadly on a sweet beaver!
  17. I tried something like this today after reading your post. I took my four inch tube with the egg weight at the top, but instead of a senko I used the two claws from a zoom rubber craw. I think that if this could be rigged like an Ika or as you proposed above, it could add some more action and/or flash and color to the bait. I only had dark blue tubes and craws to work with, so I couldn't get the color effect that would be desired, but this could be promising.
  18. Hello all, My name is Chad and I am located in Westchester, Ny. I have been fishing ever since I was three, and really have only targeted bass. My personal best is around a 5.5 at the lake that is just outside my house and that I grew up on. One goal for me is to clean out or at least stabilize the White perch population in that lake because they have completely overrun it. I also enjoy playing football and lacrosse. Thank you for reading and have a great day, Chad
  19. Hello, I was wondering if there are any other anglers based of of Westchester, or even southern NY not including Long Island. If so, What are some of your favorite lakes in our area? The search bar didn't yeild a single result for Westchester, so this should be Interesting. Chad
  20. Unless it is really killing your back, I'd say load your bag to the brim because you never know what you might encounter.
  21. Amazon is always taunting me with the $0.10 Senkos and $0.01 Gammy EWGs that I can never seem to find.
