  1. Not sure why you are mounting it to the frame. I run it up the shaft securing it with electrical tape. At the swivel of the shaft just loop out enough slack to allow the head to swivel all the way around both ways. the continue up the shaft to the head then follow the cables and wires down to the foot pedal area.
  2. Congrats. I owned a 1995 Jav 387A from 1999 until last spring. Loved it and it would run 56 mph with my 1991 GT 150. Upgraded it to a 175 Proxs in 2011 and it would do 62 mph. Had an 24V 80 pound Minkota and Lowrance HDS units. Took it from Erie to Falcon and it was a great boat.
  3. Amazing place to fish anytime. Went twice last year. First trip was in Mid March and we whacked em. 24-1 was our best daily 5 during the week but we had over 20 solid fish everyday all week long. Crankbaits, jerkbaits and lipless cranks were our best baits. 9lbs 8oz was our biggest bass. Youtube video posted by my son. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cWrS4axswLo his editing was great because I must have spent the whole week running for the net and I am the one that caught the 9-8 :-) I went back down Good Friday Weekend and really struggled catching them post spawn. only caught 9 total all weekend. So for me I would go NOW regardless of the rain. I have to wait for a couple more weeks. We are going to fish for 6 days before marshaling for the Elites. They may hit the spawning activity perfect this year.
  4. A lot of paddling in that long narrow lake. take a look at it on Google Earth and you will see. As for clarity it depends when and where you launch from. The Roanoke area is usually murky to muddy in the spring as is the area up from the Vandalia area. Both Skin creeks can murky bad in the spring as well. If you go out of the State Park area than that area tends to stay clear. I have caught a lot of nice bass flipping the abundant standing timber and sunken road beds the past few years. Good Luck.
  5. I bought one of the first Hydrowaves released several years ago. I pre-ordered one before they were even released to all the Elite Pros. My serial number was 0000026 ! I can definitely contribute some of my local tournament winnings to my Unit. There are days where it definitely makes a difference and then there are days where it does not seem to help. I have even had a Musky come up and strike my trolling motor head in murky water! If the fish are feeding on schools of baitfish then yes I think it helps, if they are feeding on craws then not much help. I do think it can help cover other spooking noises like sonar ticks and trolling motor sounds in shallow water. If you question whether it is the real deal just go to a BASS event and walk down the dock. You will see a Hydrowave on the deck of every pro and it is not because they are all sponsored by Hydrowave. When I first got mine and they were not being advertised I kept mine covered with a Cabela's sonar cover just so guys would not ask me what it was on the deck. :-) Only a couple of guys would notice the speaker and ask what that thing was on my trolling motor. It has definitely paid for itself in winnings even just fishing local evening tournys.
  6. I use pure ethanol free gas and my boat only goes about 3-4 months without use (Dec- Mid March). I fill the tank completely before it goes in the garage for the winter, this decreases the moisture the gas is exposed to. by decreasing the volume of air that the tank can breath in. The tank that is partially full or nearly empty breathes day in and day out a larger volume of moisture laden air as the temperature fluctuates, and if it is stored outside the temperature fluctuations are even greater each day/night. This moisture laden air is exposed to the ethanol (which absorbs water), once the amount of ethanol reaches the saturation point that is when you get phase separation (water layers out). This is when bad things happen. However if this were my boat and the tank was full I would siphon out 5 gallons and look at the fuel. If it looks ok I would add the marine sta-bill and pour the five gallons back in to mix up the tank. If the tank is partially full and it has been stored outside I would siphon out all you can and refill with fresh high octane fuel and go fishing.
  7. No need to remove your batteries. I charged my batteries with a black and decker smart charger for years with clips. I would hook up the engine battery first and it would charge in a couple of hours. My Javelin had dual trolling motor wires running to the front plug where it was jumpered over to go up to 24V. I would clip the alligator clips to a spare trolling motor plug wired up to posts and wired to flow 12V back to each of my separate trolling motor batteries. I would let this go over night and both batteries would be charged in the morning.
  8. LOL When I first read that I thought you meant his prowess with a Rattle Trap! But yes he can catch those fur coats.
  9. Looking at the latest MODIS image Erie is locked up tight with only a crack of open water just east of the islands and a small area at the discharge of the Michigan Edison power plant at the western end.
  10. I don't like it either Dwight. Jeff Amos and I were talking about you last night. Were your ears burning?
  11. Lucky Craft Staycee 90.
  12. I have fished Erie every April and May since 2003 and I agree every year is different. Last year the big fish bite was off, not near the 5 and 6 pounders that we normally see. Last years ice out was later than what I was used too and I even pushed my first trip back a week because ice out date and water temps. It looks like this year may be late as well based on what we are seeing right now.
  13. Winning bag will come out of Erie unless the weather prevents guys from making the run. Marshaled an Elite event and those guys were running from the Metro park clear to the Pelee and the Bass Islands!
  14. I went to Lowes and for about $6 bought a length of covered cable and a crimp end and just reused the plastic handle that was on my worn rope that came with my Fortrex 112. Works great doubt it will ever break.
  15. Just in the past few weeks. Yes I have went to the Web app and nothing there. I did indeed save the files to a blank SD card. It all went as expected, the site uploaded all my files then a few days later I got an email from Navionics saying Lowrance wont let them use their files. They said I could save my files in gpx format but A) I can not figure out how to save those logs from my unit in that format and I can not go out and try and log new files because the water is hard as ice. :-)
  16. I bought the plus card and liked the ability to hand pick the lakes I wanted. However I was also counting on logging and uploading my data on some WV lakes that are not mapped but when I went through the whole process I got an email back from Navionics that said they are not allowed to use my Lowrance data! That info would have been nice to know before I bought the Navionic plus card. Lowrance wants you to buy their Insight Genesis version ! Nice that they do not tell you this till after you buy the card, and spend all the time logging and then the time uploading..... and btw we will keep your loggings in case we can use them later......
  17. 2500HD Silverado 6.0L 15 mpg solo, 11 mpg pulling my Z119c, and 9 mpg pulling a 6000lb camper. 180,000 miles and going strong. Bought a 1995 camry 4 cyl beater work car for $3000 and I get 34 mpg and up to 250,000 miles and going strong it paid for itself in under a year and gives me more money for fishing trips. :-)
  18. Bought several of these when they first came out. Batteries died after 1 season on most of them and I did not do that well on them. I was not impressed. As for the Howeller...If you watched Randy live online during the Classic he caught most of those fish the final day on the Rapala DT and switched over to the Livingston late in the day..... sponsorship footage...... My suggestion is save your money.
  19. Tire I found using side scan. That is a smallmouth bed just behind the tire and you can even see the four pound smallmouth as the white spot in the bed. We caught that fish. :-)
  20. If you want to spend a day with some pro's look into the BASS Marshal program. It is the best $125 you will ever spend. You get to spend two or three days riding along and watching the pro's every move. I have done it on Onieda in 2012, Lake St. Clair in 2013 and am doing Guntersville this April. It is amazing what you can learn and most of the guys are great fun. I rode with Paul Elias, Scott Rook, Kevin Short, Takohiro, Dean Rojas, and Kevin Hawk.
  21. ran a 24v system for years and did fine in my 18' glass boat. Upgraded to a new Ranger Z119c and I am so happy I upgraded to the 36V 112 lb fortrex. I fish the Ohio river a lot and Erie and I like having the power to move when I need to and never have ran the batteries down below 60% even leaning on the trolling motor all day not 8 hour ALL DAY 6am to 9pm in river current or Erie wind and waves.
  22. I have this setup and no interference. However my structure scan transducer is mounted on the rear. I have an HDS gen2 in the dash and a HDS gen 1 on the bow running off the fortrex built in transducer. Both hooked up to the LSS black box and I can look at structure scan on the front unit just looking at structure that is 19' behind me. Frankly do not use the structure scan up front very often.
  23. I did this for years in my old boat. I mounted it in the rear compartment and after I would get two or three fish in the livewell I would just open the rear compartment and hook up the pos clip. I had a 24 V trolling motor and I would just switch which battery I was using to power my bubbler a couple times per year. I kept that bubbler and hard wired it of a dash switch on my new boat but it is now powered off the engine battery.
  24. I installed the ProMariner universal plug holder in my new Ranger. It runs the three bank trolling motor 45 amp charger and a single bank 6amp charger hooked up to the engine motor. I chose this model so that I could use a larger gauge plug and then wire up both chargers to the pig tail. I open up the plug door and pull out about 3 inches of plug and wire and plug it into my extension cord. The heavier gauge plug and pig tail carries the AC amps fine and never even get warm. In the morning unplug and tuck the plug back in the receptacle and snap the cover closed to keep the water out from back wash when I come down off plane or have wave lapping at the back deck.
  25. Hey loaded some pics into my profile or gallery... put the pics of the redneck power pole I took in that album.
