Garmin Echomap 73 CV
Are there any issues with running my unit out of the water? (So I can look at my waypoints and maps.) Does the transducer get warm?

Cost of the Pro Tour
The boat, truck, gear, entry fees, food, lodging, travel, mortgage/rent, utilities, repairs, family upkeep...it all adds up to a lot of time and money. I'm a middle class individual and I could NEVER afford all these things. Am I to assume most touring pros have some type of "wealthy" family or friend backing their love of the sport? Or do they live on huge amounts of debt and are always "in the hole"? Or do they all have awesome jobs when not on the water? Where does all that money come from?

Jigs - Braid with Fluoro Leader - Advice
The 8 foot leader was for swim baiting. I didn't ask him about jigs.

Jigs - Braid with Fluoro Leader - Advice
I'm mainly a jig fisherman and want to use a fluorocarbon leader to the jig for the "invisible" qualities of the line. I'm thinking 40 lb braid to 20 lb fluorocarbon. How long should I make the leader? (Side story: I was using a 12 inch leader for my 4 inch swim baits and then talking with Chris Zaldain he told me... NO. An 8 foot leader. I was way off.)

Where to buy Balsa wood
I buy 3/4 inch and 1 inch dowels to start my lures. Cheap and easy to start for your designs. Just an idea.

Chopping Tournament Winnings
Just curious...as it surely tough to make a living as a professional bass fisherman... do the best fisherman make deals to split up the winnings after the tournament? Most tournaments are top heavy on the pay outs, especially the Classic. Other tournament sports do this all the time. Or is this a big secret that should not be talked about? Thanks for any info.

Battery Charging During Winter
I use my boat during the winter months on power plant lakes. Any issues with just leaving my new Power Sport 3 bank charger on the batteries through the snow and cold? It's stored outside. Thanks.

Garmin Echomap 73SV Plus
That's a great deal and I love mine. But...is it loaded with the US lakes? Just check.

1982 9.9 Mercury - Hard to Pull - Cold Temps
I like to fish year round. Temps in the upper 30s and lower 40s really make it hard to physically pull the starting cord on this outboard. It's hard to start at such a slow speed of pull. Is that just the nature of the beast or can this be lubricated somehow? Thanks for any info.

Object Size using Garmin
There must be a fairly easy match problem to solve object size under the boat as you pass over. How and what is it? Boat speed 2.5 mph Depth 22 feet 7 inch screen Object takes up 25% of screen on the bottom How wide is the object? I want to make a speed and depth chart for easy use.

Go Barbless - Please. You'll love it.
When I'm not in a tournament, I push down the barbs on all my hooks...especially on soft plastics and jigs. * You may lose a few fish...so what. It rarely happens. Hook penetration depth increases without the barb. * You will do FAR less damage to the fish. * Getting the fish back into the water is so much easier. * You will be SO glad when you hook yourself and don't need to go to the emergency room. It takes a few seconds to squeeze down that barb with a pliers.

Charging Batteries - Cold Weather
I like to continue fishing out in my bass boat through the winter months on power plant lakes. The temps are easily in the 30s. Can I just leave the batteries on the auto charger in the cold weather? Will this damage the batteries? I usually bring the batteries inside but that's a pain with three big batteries.

Weedless Bass Jig - In Mouth Position
It seems that a jig guard would have to be compressed AND the jig NOT flat in the mouth for a bass to be hooked without sliding out of the mouth. I fish deep open water with football jigs but I cut off the weed guards. I don't think I ever miss a fish. Am I wasting my time cutting off the guards? Do the bass compress the guard to the hook point anyway? I'd love to see inside the mouth of the bass and see the hooking process.

Garmin: Traditional vs Clear Vu
I see fish on a spot with traditional view and no fish using the clear vu screen. Why? Please explain the difference.

Low Water Ramp - With Wash Out
One ramp only. Strip mine open by the state. I wouldn't leave my load ramps there. I'd put them back in my truck after loading.

Low Water Ramp - With Wash Out
One of my favorite ramps has a major drop off and the trailer wheels will fall right off the concrete with low fall/winter water. I'm thinking of buying some 3000 lb load ramps and just putting them onto the end of the concrete into the water. Work great? Seeing any issues?

Trolling Motor Wire Size - Motorguide X-3 70
I'm going to change my battery wires to my trolling motor. I'm upgrading to the 24 volt 70 lb thrust Motorguide. Motorguide suggests 8 guage. Is there any disadvantages to installing 6 guage as in over kill? Too big? Thanks to all for any advice. 18 foot bass boat with batteries in the back.

Magnum Spoons - Tried them?
Throwing those 8 inch spoons for largemouth bass is a new technique for me. Anyone try it already? Any retrieve techniques or ideas I should pay attention to? Thanks to all.

Battery Charger Question - Dual Bank
I have a nice dual bank battery charger. But I just upgraded to a 24 volt trolling motor. Can I split the deep cycle battery charging wires to both batteries and leave the starting battery as is? It may take longer to charge but that's not a concern. Just wondering if it's safe and will they charge OK.

Garmin - 7 CV - Waypoint Where??
I'm brand new to using marine electronics. The image is beautiful in down scan. But...when I mark a Waypoint with my unit am I marking the position of the boat or what I've already passed over? If I'm marking the boat then I must be off by numerous feet from the rock piles. I don't want to waste casts at nothing and I want the Waypoints to help with accuracy. Thanks for any ***.

Garmin- How far behind the boat?
Just got a Garmin 73 CV. Since all images are showing what has already been passed over, at 3mph how far behind the boat is the item I see? I want to use my new unit with precision for deep brush piles and objects. Thoughts and help anyone...
