Do the bass in a power plant lake move into the areas with the warmest water or do they simply follow their normal movements based on seasons? Basically, will their be a higher concentration of bass on the warm water side of a lake in the winter than any other time of the year?

I have a 1980 50 HP 4 cylinder 2-stroke on my 18 foot fiberglass bass boat. It planes up and cruises at 30 mph max. Fine since I'm just fishing from spot to spot. I ask the Mercury marine mechanic if a 4 blade will help me get up on plane quicker and stay at a slower speed. He said that's witchcraft crap and I wouldn't notice any difference. Whhaaaat? How about any extra opinions? Thoughts....

So the smaller 2 cylinder Johnson with the small prop is going to push my boat the same speed as my 50 HP Mercury with 4 cylinders and the big prop? Just seems odd and impossible...unless the Johnson prop spins a ton faster.

Why is there such a huge difference between the physical size of the entire motor within the same HP? My 1980 50 HP Merc is really big compared to a Johnson 2003 50 HP...both 2-stroke. Are they really the same HP and will they both push with the same force?

My specific goal is to throw a Pop-R top water the furthest distance possible using bait casting gear AND have the ability to get a good hook set. I'm thinking 8'6" medium rod with 30lb braid which translates to 8lb mono thickness. Thoughts all...

Will I increase my casting distance by switching to a lower diameter like a braid?

I saw the tilt of the hook on the video...looks like that would decrease hook ups rather than help. It appears to bend the curve up, not the point. I just read an article that explains the same thing...that a normal knot on the eye with a straight shank hook is much better. (Having the knot hit the space gap on the eye is a whole other issue.)

I have seen numerous articles and videos showing the tying of the line to the hook using the line to the shank and then through the eye. This is popular with punch rig hooks. Why? What advantage would this give to the knot?. Better than to the eye? What's the science here? Thanks all.

Pick the lure you have to use forever if you only get one. Color, size and why. Me: Black Neon Hula Grub on a 1/2 oz football jig head, no weed guard. I can pitch it, drag it, swim it and burn it like a top water. I fish it at night and day. More bass, northerns and walleye than any other lure for me.

If you follow most tournaments rules down to the exact letter of the law, foul hooked bass do not count. Does this apply to any bass who's hook is on the outside of the mouth? I would think so. Thoughts...

I've been making my own jigs for 20 years. I buy egg sinkers in the weight I like. Put in a vise and cut half way open width-wise with a hack saw. Open up with a flat head screwdriver. I insert an Owner worm hook into the sinker. (You can insert your favorite hook on every jig this way.) Add a drop of super glue and tighten the vise on the sinker/hook combo. Done. Paint if you like. No melting lead or molds. Great for football head uses.

Does the mouth of a bass compress the guard passed the point? I always remove the fiber guard. I have a "slips out of their mouth" phobia. Explain...

I want to buy a used17-20 foot fiberglass bass boat , BUT.. due to local laws my best lake has a 50hp limit. I am not too concerned with speed, just plenty of comfortable fishing room for local tournaments. Will such a set up still "plane out" the boat?
