  1. what is the difference in the rage craw and the structure bug? when or where do you fish one over the other? Saturday me and my partner fished the first club tournament of the year and my partner was using a rage twin tail on a jointed jig head, worked for him pretty good.
  2. 3/0 ewg, think I need to go up?
  3. I have been catching a lot of fish lately on these type of baits. I personally like the gene lareau biffle bug better because it is hollow, my hook up ratio is really good, and they don't tear up as easily as the structure bug. However, it seems like maybe the structure bug catches better fish. My hook up rate on them suck and they tear up easy though, so I don't know. Anybody have any thoughts on these or similar baits? Other favorites? I have a club tournament at Lake of the Ozarks in two weeks and plan on using these there.
  4. I fished Kinkaid several times last year, pretty close to home. i like it but have not caught anything big yet. clear and weedy, lots of cover. Also, you have the chance of hooking a huge musky
  5. pepper grass is a very good color in my lake, as well as everything already mentioned
  6. glad you could get out. I never thought northern ID would be fishing before se mo! My lake might be thawed by tomorrow.
  7. Nice fish, looks about like mine, but it is hard to tell. I don't have a picture of mine to post but caught her in a slough last spring, i think on a cut regular carp. I don't think they care too much what they eat when they come into those slough's in the spring. I have caught them on drum, shad, carp, skipjack, crappie, ect. Whatever i catch in my throw net at the pumps.
  8. dang, long and skinny! How much did that weigh? my pb was a 55 last spring, but not caught on skipjack.
  9. this thread has inspired me to try some winter creek fishing of my own. I fish creeks for smallmouth here in se mo but I haven't tried in the winter yet. The biggest i can come up with is 17 3/4", can't break the 18" mark. I went out yesterday and found a likely looking hole, so we will see how it goes.
  10. what time of year? do you ever keep them? They make good blue cat bait early in the year.
  11. blue and flathead catfish in the mississippi, once you catch a big one your hooked as bad as bass fishing
  12. Does anybody fish for skipjack? I use them for catfish bait when I can find them from baitshops but they are hard to find here and are questionable quality. I know they catch them in the Ohio river but don't really know where or when.
  13. i agree with everything except for the braid. where i fish in the Mississippi there are a lot of rocks and braid can be cut very easily, but if there aren't many rocks braid will work good. I use 30 pound cajun line mono, very abrasion resistant. I also have a Okuma Avenger and really like it for now, hopefully it holds up good.
  14. being layed off of work for two months and the lake froze over
  15. great job, i'm jealous. Which direction was the rip rap facing? Gonna be fishing a power plant lake in southern Illinois in a week or so depending on weather and was thinking they should be on south or west facing rip rap.
  16. i just ordered a 7'3" heavy temple fork outfitters tactical casting rod for 160 bucks to use a lot like you. I'll let you know how i like it when i get it.
  17. Just ordered a temple fork outfitters tactical casting rod, 7'3" heavy from tackle warehouse. Anybody have any of these or know anyone with them? good reviews on the website, i'm excited to get it.
  18. totaly agree. i don't like andys or zatarans, corn flower instead of corn meal. Also use peanut oil. goggle eye and flathead catfish are my favorites
  19. i have never fished lake girardeau before but fish perry county lake a little. Last year in the early spring me and my buddy went out, only caught two but one was a five pounder. Unless I go to a bigger lake that we fish in tournaments most times i just fish on my home lake. I live on a sixty acre gated community lake that is pretty darn good.
  20. I live a little south of Perryville
  21. Hey Michael, just joined here and read your post, wondering how you did. I have fished Kinkaid a few times and know a little about it
  22. I have been reading some of these forums for a while but just now signed up. I just started fishing local club tournaments last year and getting in to bass fishing more seriously. Look forward to talking to you guys.
