  1. The only Berkeley product that I currently use in the 12inch power worm. It is a heck of a good worm and I have caught a couple 4's and at least one 5 on it .
  2. I feel your pain Dylcook91... here in Kentucky there are only a very few areas that have closed waters due to trout stockings and that is only near one of our hatcheries. If your fishing a body of water when the stocking truck pulls up then it is just your lucky day here in KY. It is also frustrating with the type of fisherman you talk about, but the lake I fish on the most is a trophy lake that has a 1 bass 20inch limit, so bobber fisherman don't take large numbers of bass out
  3. Very big congratulations to your dad on this very nice personal best.
  4. The water levels are high, but not nearly too high to hurt the fishing. However, the lake is muddy and had remained muddy longer than I have ever seen it. A change in water clarity will improve the fishing.
  5. My tackle bag that use for bank fishing is also the one that I currently use when I get invited to go along on a friends boats. I need to separate out to just a bank fishing bag, so I don't have so much stuff. Looks like you have done a great job of not overloading your bag!
  6. It is terrible.....I hate paperwork and right now thats all they will let me do. Ill be glad to be healed up.
  7. Well guys by fishing season has been slow due to my broken leg and the resulting surgery. Last week they put me into a walking boot and crutches and I was able to go back to work on desk/light duty. My last three fishing trip had resulted in zero fish, but with warmer days and nights the fishing here in South Central Kentucky has finally started turning around. Air Temps have been averaging 65 and water temps at Cedar Creek are averaging 54 degrees in the shallows and in pockets. All of these fish came out of shallow water. The largest was caught on 3/8oz PB&J football jig with Netbait Paca Chunk in the same color. Fish number two was caught on a Brush Hog in Rootbeer Green flake rigged on a homemade 1/4oz Jika Rig. The smallest was caught on a Trick Worm in Black Neon rigged on 1/4oz shakey head.
  8. Had several of those hooks for fishing flukes and just thought it would work on other lures also. At the time I really didn't know there was a name for it lol.
  9. Don't know about the new baits, but my local walmart has the F2's on something like a closeout. Last night my fiancee picked up all they had in a bin for $ .50 per pack....All I can say is a taught her well.
  10. Don't look at the craw bug as a last resort plastic. It is a go to bait for me in creeks and river locations. It can be flipped and pitched and have even used it as a jig trailer. You might be surprised.
  11. This last year I stared fishing a new to me color in the Netbait Cmac 11", called sun perch. I had fished that color in other Netbait plastics, but that was the first I had seen it in the Cmac. Long story short, only bought one bag, caught a lot of fish and went through that bag in less than a month. Went back to the same shop and there wasn't a single bag left. Since then I figured out that's not common color in that worm and a member of the site just recent pointed me in a website that carries them. When I buy a bait/lure that work I quickly by enough to last the season. Sometimes I get stuck with some extras, but it better to have and not need than need and not have in my opinion.
  12. Yep, you and me both...surgery helped me a ton, but recovery is going to be slow.
  13. Seems like the bite is slow to warm up...I am pretty much out of the game with a bad leg break. My buddies have said the bite is slow in most of the areas here in KY.
  14. Thanks guys this is the kind of info that I am looking for!!
  15. Hey guys, This may seem a little on the general side, but I have been making plans to change up my gear this spring. After checking around, doing some research, and handling some of the Lew's reels I have really fell in love. Personally I like both their spinning and casting gear, but have no real experience with their rods, nor anyone who owns them. When at the Bassmaster Classic expo I handled a few of their rods while walking through the Lew's booth, but with so much to see and do I really didn't spend much time looking through all the selection. I'm looking for your likes and dislikes. Thanks in advance!!!
  16. I basically fish the Netbait C-Mac as my go to curly tailed worm. Currently don't have any in the 7" size, but I love the 11" and 15". Last year I tried a new color for me, Sun Perch, and I hammered the fish on this color. Of course I only bought one bag at the time and now they cant be found anywhere. Berkeley Power Worm in 12" also caught a lot of nice fish for me last year in green pumpkin. When fishing the bigger ribbon tails I think I do something different than most guys in my area and I rig them on BIG shakey heads. They are very versatile and you can rig them about any conventional way that you can think of.
  17. Seems like the Walmart's around here will have great sales on terminal tackle and I stock up when the price is right. It doesn't seem like there are as many deals on the lures though. My first baitcaster come from a Walmart clearance sale...30.00 Abu Black Max Combo. It is still catching fish to this day!!!
  18. I don't have a boat and it will likely be a few years before I can afford all of the cost associated with the responsibility. Right now with a house payment, the regular monthly bills, and the fact that I am finishing my college degree it would be a undue burden to attempt it. By lifelong best friend and fellow sheriff's deputy has a boat and he generally invites me along for the brotherhood of the experience. I always make it my job to help in the launch and loading of the boat and take off any strain for my buddy just because I know it is the right thing to do. My friend always grips and grumbles about taking money because he argues that he was going with or without me. I always make it a point to buy lunch/bring lunch a cooler of beverages, snacks etc etc. I just feel that is the least that I can possibly do. When we fish a tournament as partners I split everything down the middle...he tires to decline, but I wont take no for an answer in such a situation as that. Personally I don't think I would want to fish as a co-angler because you just never know if the guys is going to be a good ol boy or a total a**hole. I look forward to owning a boat in the future, but for now I go when invited and otherwise I have learned to become quite a good bank fisherman.
  19. Yep and I guess I should say that not everyone fishes a jig the same...I bounce my jigs depending conditions and bouncing a jika rigged craw or worm seems to be a presentation that really works for me. Your mileage will vary, but I think you will be pleased with how versatile this setup can be. You can give a power presentation or fish it finesse and everything in between. Not many rigs you can use that have such a wide variety of presentations.
  20. There are several presentations for this rig. I personally fish it like I would a Texas rig, like a jig, and I swim it also. All three have produced fish.
  21. This is going to be my first trip to the Classic also. I am looking forward to the expo and weigh-in's!!!
  22. I guess that thing that I enjoy most about BPS is the setting...taxidermy, wildlife, fish in the tanks etc and the items on the shelf really come second. Seems like many of baits and lures, along with the color combo I need are not in the stores.
  23. I love the jika rig. Made them with a wide variety of weight and hook size combinations for my various needs. Last year I started fishing worms on this rig with some good results. The fish in my avatar was caught on a Berkley Power worm 12" green pumpkin, jika rigged.
  24. Well I am setting here typing this while it is snowing...about seven inches on the ground and it doesn't seem to be stopping any time soon. The forecast is predicting 10-12 inches. That is going to put a hurting on my fishing for the next couple weeks I would say.
  25. It is deff worth the trip...that hardest time of year at cedar creek is the heat of summer time. That time of year the fishing seems to be more productive in the evening on top water and on shallow baits. During the other seasons of the years fishing is pretty hard to beat for this area.
