  1. YANKEES WIN!!! Folks....... YANKEES WIN!!! 8-) 8-)
  2. I gotta' guess catfish. Though when a turtle finally knows there's a hook in his mouth... LOOK OUT!! that &!$$3$ them off!! They can tear up all kinds of things.
  3. Hey Roadwarrior: how do you keep the "dinks" off the line in this situation? I've tried these things that you have mentioned, in very similar situations, and I catch fish, only small fish. Perhaps it is the particular water that I'm on.
  4. Isn't that the way it ought to be? Go fishin' and, low and be hold, you find a good friend. I fish alone far too often. It's nice to find people with which you can share fishing, and sometimes more importantly other things. I can name a good number of people on this site that I would be glad to fish with, if only I had the time to get the job done on my end. Unfortunatley I have to force my fishing time the way it is. If I were ever to be in anyone's area, I would be sure to let them know. I hope ya'll would do the same.
  5. I've never used one, or been around one avid but I have thought about getting one my self. Please let us know what you think. I have a feeling you'll like it just fine. Good fishin' to ya.
  6. I've got a feeling that you'll have a "world class fishery" on your hands there in a few years. Awesome pics, I bet those will come in very handy in the years to come. It does sound like they will let it fill naturally, and I agree it seems like it will take a very long time. The amount of structure that I see makes my mouth water. I could only wish that my "home" lake had as much. I didn't see your post in Feb. Can you tell us again the reason for draining it?
  7. WELCOME!! You'll be smelling more like fish than "skunk" before ya know it.
  8. 8-) LBH that's the coolest idea I've ever heard of. I would love the chance to pack that baby with some Mid-West MOJO!!
  9. Muddy ol' boy that sounds a bit like my younger brother and I. We were out last night, and the post cold front blues were setting in, so we just kept throwing what we had at them, and cleared our minds talking 'bout all kinds of stuff. I feel fortunate that we are so close geographically and emotionally. If we were having more luck with the fish though..... the talk would have waited for the ride home. Either way I look at the whole time as a blessing. Listening (as my mother said) is a very important thing. : She was right!! :-/, but the moment and the fishing partner have a lot to do with it. When by myself I only talk to the BASS. " "Good morning Bubba, how are you today" stuff like that. You have to be half crazy to try to think like them anyway.
  10. ;)AMEN Marty, You need to do what the fish want. I usually start fast, and slow it down from there if I have to. With the warm (hot) water you may be dealing with there in AZ. It might benifit you to try the deep, slower thing. How early are you planning to get out?? :-/
  11. I agree 15mph isn't too bad, and most times if the weather man says 10-15 you had better know it will be 15 on the lake. At 20 mph and higher things start getting pretty hairy. That's when I consider finding something else to do. Like grabbin' a cold one and catching the game.
  12. I know they recommend 350 for 20 min. but I think that's a bit too hot for a little too long. I've been baking them at 200-250 for more like 10-15 min. It makes a little less of a mess and I think they cure just as well. Give it a try.
