All good points everyone. Thanks

Cork vs EVA grips
I agree that I first choose the power, action, feel, etc. first. Just wondering, all other things being equal??? I can’t tell if it affects feel or sensitivity to me. It just seems that the rods I am looking at getting next, the strong majority come with cork. Not sure it will be a deal breaker, just seem to prefer the feel in hand of non-cork rods. Seems as though like the cork. Will finally get back on the water for bass in about a month after a long, long winter to feel the difference again.

Cork vs EVA grips
I bought a Dobyns Champion, with cork at the end of last season to throw Chatters. It just seemed slippery to me. Felt like I had to hang on tighter. I assume that is average cork or a little better. I agree with the aged cork and battle scars. Seems to have better grip too. Maybe I just need to fish more! I do have summers off.........Mmmmm thanks guys. Just wanted to see if others had the same ideas with it. Jbsoonerfan, I do like my Winn grips a lot!

Cork vs EVA grips
Hey all, In my search for new rods, I seem to have a preference for EVA type grips over cork. I own quite a few of each, but seem to lean away from cork. Please let me know your likes/dislikes and why. Thanks!

Backing your baitcaster line
Haha, I am not sure we are going to get a summer here this year. Man, it’s been a rough Spring. Our bass season doesn’t open until May 11, so crappies have to do until then. I think you should bring that awesome Lund here for that quick weekend and do a little teaching! Enjoy your season!!

Jigs with Trailers vs Jigs without Trailers
This has me thinking now, what trailer would/should I try without something that a craw type of look to it? I thought curly tail grub (I have used these on a swim jig). I always just assumed when jig fishing on the bottom, I was imitating a craw, but I may give this a try for the fun of it. What ideas could a guy use to try this??

P Line issues
Fluoroclear is the only line I have had problems with. I love Pline 100% and Tactical. Great line. Find it on sale and it's even better. Tactical is 50% off right now at Cabelas.

Wacky Rig Hook?
Thanks Fellas. I will hit order from TW and give them a shot. Have a great season!

Dedicated Chatterbait Rod
I have the 735 CB and it is still a little more powerful than I would like. It is a nice rod, but I am still looking for something else while using it. I have a glass crankbait rod I throw lighter chatters on and love it. It is waaaaay underpowered, but for some reason I love it and catch a lot of bass with it.

Wacky Rig Hook?
Hey WW2 Farmer, I have those RevengeFliipin Walkers in my TW cart, how seedless are they? Are hookups ok with them still? Thanks

Is a swimbait rod worth it?
JFrancho, do you know where these are on clearance? Thanks

Ark rods?
I am also looking for real world reviews. Have some interest in these as well. Heard good things.

Only 11lbs. Drag on Curado DC
I thought this was an interesting question. Glad you posted. I always wondered when I had seen Abu and others with over 20 lbs. I had never had any problems with my 13 lb. Daiwa’s and others, but glad to hear from guys who have caught giants agree. Also, I really like faster 8.1:1 or higher reels for pitching and jigs. I feel it helps pick up line for hook sets, make more casts to targets, and help get bass turned and out of cover. Lack of torque has not seemed to hurt me in those situations. Now cranking all day...........nother story
- Winn Grips or Cork? What do you prefer?

Favorite creature baits for skipping?
We like to skip Zoom horny toads and Stanley Ribbits. We mostly rig them weightless on a 4/0 EWG. Sometimes we will peg a 1/8 oz. tungsten. The skip attracts them and then the toad falling gets em to hammer them.

The latest sale thread
Gotcha. I had never tried one and read mixed reviews. Thought I couldn’t go wrong for that price. Will be a backup rod, but thought I would give it a go. The company has had an intetersesting reputation here and I remembered reading it is allowed here now. Thought I would throw it on here. Thanks for the info.

Mills Fleet Farm has 13 fishing Omen Black 2 rods for $49.99. Both casting and spinning. I had to try one for that price.

Best place to buy Tungsten weights on a budget
OM fishing sinkers is a great deal. Quality is great and prices are awesome. Buddies and I just dropped $200 for the year. gilkeybr is correct that it takes about 2 weeks, but free shipping over $40.

Rod action of the pros
I totally know these rods have their place and time for sure. I was just interested in knowing what you all thought and observed. It seemed like Rick Clunn was using a pretty soft rod flippin 10 pounders in. It also seemed like some other pros had some softer rods for techniques I found interesting. My only observation is that i enjoy casting a softer action rod than i do an extra fast rod. Looking to get a couple of new rods this year and was wondering if I should be adding some of these for a reason. Thanks for all the comments, it is interesting to see what people think of this.

Rod action of the pros
I will look into those. I like a Winn or grip other than cork. I have cork grips on some rods, but prefer something else. Thanks

Rod action of the pros
I would use braid for this type of rod. I am about 50% braid on my set ups. With this type of rod I think it would be great for casting, feel, and hook sets. Thanks Thanks kschultz and waymont. I will definitely be looking at those rods. I do own a Dobyns, but I use it for chatters as it is a glass rod made for them. Have always wanted to try a JDM rod and a Kistler.

Rod action of the pros
I mean a moderate or moderate fast action rod, but would like it to have a softer tip section and load to a more stout backbone.
-
Rod action of the pros
I want to find a rod with that moderate or MF tip that loads to a strong backbone. I like the feel and ease of the cast and I feel it helps with fighting the fish on a M or MF action. I do like some backbone to set the hook and help power a fish out of cover if needed. Any suggestions? I would like one for throwing weightless Senkos and one for jigs/Texas rigs.

Great, my wife will think I am heading up there to ice fish. Does Tackle Warehouse carry those?
