Finding bass offshore
Thanks Pickle, that makes sense. I to think I will use it when not catching using my typical fishing, AND, when I am tired from chunking and winding, pitching and flipping, jerking and........

Finding bass offshore
Thanks! I have the perfect lake to give this a try. Question, when you catch a fish strolling, can you spot lock and pick off other fish? Does this method usually locate more than one fish?

Finding bass offshore
Thanks! We are going to give these a try. It's just so frustrating to know there has to be big fish out deep and not knowing for sure how to find them in these structureless lakes.

Finding bass offshore
So here is the dilemma. I know many bass move to deeper water during summer months. I know I need to be out there finding them. Many of the lakes I fish in Minnesota are bowl shaped lakes with very limited structure. We have found some on deeper weed edges and off some depth contour, but do you have suggestions for finding bass when there is really not much on the map for them to relate to. A little more info: lakes are usually less than 30 feet deep, many are 15 feet or less. Weeds can vary a lot by lake of course. When the lake is shaped like a bowl, what do you look for? We can usually catch some shallow on laydowns, overhangs etc, but we know we are missing opportunities in deeper water. Thanks for any and all ideas!!

Do i have an unorthodox opinion on Killing fish (in general for all purposes)
You are missing out man, they are delicious! I don't eat bass however. On the menu: walleye, sunfish, crappie, perch. Yum

6’6” or 7 for spinnerbait
7' or up. I really like the ability to cast farther as well as the added length for a better hookset.

Weightless plastic skipping rod
Thanks bait finesse, I will certainly look into those rods. I am 6'3" so I may be able to try the 7'2" rod. The 6'9" I am using is too short for my comfort. It is hard to know what a rod is like without holding them and feeling that bend. I don't have a place around there that carries many bass rods.

Weightless plastic skipping rod
Hey All, I seem to be skipping weightless plastics a lot. I prefer to do this with a baitcaster as I have more power to pull them out of where I skip (docks, laydowns, bushes etc.). I am looking for a rod with enough tip to help skip then a nice transition to some backbone. I know Daiwa makes a skipping rod, but it seems made more for jigs etc. Andy Montgomery describes it as 20% tip and 80% backbone. I already have a rod I skip heavier weights with. I am currently using a 6'9" medium power, but would like a 7' - 7'2". Would like a MH if it has enough tip to it, otherwise a medium with maybe a little more power. Please let let me know if you have an idea. I would like to keep this around $150 or so if possible. Thanks in advance! FD

Busting on what...
This has fooled me forever as well. Big explosions on a great bass lake. Finally sat and watched really close. Carp. They would bust on shore and out by weed lines. Thought they had to be bass on this Great Lake..........nope.

In-Line Buzz Bait
V&M and Stanley make inline buzzbaits, but with a frog or shad instead of a skirt. I like them. Check Tackle Warehouse. I think that is where I got mine. It might have Dicks also.

That's awesome to hear! Glad you love it. Post if you buy another one. I am interested to hear how you like them as well.

Awesome new setup!! Can’t wait to use
I have been eyeballin a Genesis II. I really don't need another rod, but I like the looks of the handle and foregrip on it. I hope you love it!

The latest sale thread
I just go to eBay periodically and it will say it right on the home page. Takes about 5 seconds to check. If I am ready to buy something, I often check daily.

The latest sale thread
I saw this and I was mad. I had just ordered a Tatula CT to try out. I just checked, and I wouldn't have saved any money. I grabbed it for $84 before the sale. About the same price with the 15% off. They raised the prices before the sale. Whew

What Do You Take?
Usually 5 rods (4 baitcastes, 1 spinning). I usually arrange my tackle as to not have to overpack the boat. I bring all techniques, but not every color and size I might bring in my own boat. I also carry 1/4 of the soft baits I usually do. I ask about a cooler for snacks and drinks. I will bring my little yeti with stuff if they are ok with that and ask what they like to drink (water, sports drink etc.). I try not go overboard and always ask questions before we go.

Are you giving any lures a Second Shot this year?
I have to try a fluke this year to compliment my stick bait habit. I also want to throw a shaky head and see if it works in my area. We have a lot more of weeds in most places I fish and a mucky bottom. We will see what happens.

Line type for senkos on a BC
I have been using braid (15 or 20 lb.)for weightless senko's and it has worked great. I am going to try Fluoro just to do a comparison. Love that braid lasts for years and it so manageable. I hope to see if fluoros density and slack line performance have any benefits over braid.

Cabelas has been doing that consistently for about 6 months now. I actually called and talked to corporate about it. They claim they are working on the system to prevent it. We will see. This has made me angry more times than I care to count. Never used to happen. Hmmmm, what changed?

Screen name
Mine is obvious, but there is another fishin dad on here with a space or underscore or something. Love my girls and being a Dad! Might need to change the screen name though.

6'6" rods
I am a fan of longer rods, however, look at FFO if you are still looking. They have a 6'6" Abu Garcia Villain for $88. If you really like them buy one, get one 50% off. 2 rods for $133. These rods retail for $180 each.

No stank sandals
I have a pair in black. Have had them for about 4 years. The sole is wearing out a little, but I love them. I am a size 14 (sucks) but my wife and kids slip on the Aruba to step outside quick to get the mail or something out of the garage. They sit by the door all year long. I am a huge Keen fan as you can tell. I wear their casual dress shoes to work (have 3 pairs), wear the sandals all summer long (have 5 pairs total). Love the wide toe box on the shoes and the sandals offer toe protection but let air in. All have anti-microbial treatment.
