  1. I really trust the advise on this site and love how they run things. But I do feel free to buy anything I feel I want in this free market economy.
  2. I agree with the bladed jigs being my confidence bait as well. I am really experimenting and forcing myself to fish all kinds of jigs to get. Enter at catching with them and to see what I like. Man is there a lot out there to choose from though. I will try a few more Arkie heads for skipping. Thanks. If you get a chance to try the a Seibert bladed jigs, let me know how they go for you. Good luck!!!
  3. Thanks fellas. I will check out the trailer lock and Jewel jigs. Mr. Copeland, I wish we could fish together sometime. We have the exact opposite problem. We could help eacother out. I don't skip my chatterbait too often so I think that's why my trailers stay on them better. I do use Indianas glue trick on them also though. Tight lines
  4. Thanks Indiana. I have tried super glue and it has worked for a bit, but I am going to keep experimenting with it. Just looking for something I can put a trailer on and throw right away. Not sure what is out there. Kind of new to throwing jigs this much.
  5. I am really enjoying getting into this jig fishing thing. The problem I am having is that the areas I fish, I need to flip one cast and skip the next. When I skip my jig, there are times when my trailer will slide down. I have seen that Strike king has a skipping jig with a screwlock built in. Wondering if that is the answer? Admittedly, some of my jigs don't even have a bait keeper on them. I accept it happening on those a little more. I have been looking at Seiberts site and can't see where it says what king of keeper they have. So I am asking you experts what jig works best for a flipping/skipping combo?
  6. Overpriced for sure. Abu Garcia has been clearancing those reels for a while now. Those Lews models are not very expensive. You can find way better deals looking around and get new stuff to boot. Good luck!
  7. Glad you asked this. Trying to figure out this jig thing as well. I read the whole jig thread, and I think it said swim jigs can be used. I am also wondering what some of the jig experts found has worked for them. I know ripping out of weeds is great with bladed jigs, maybe the same for bottom dwelling jigs also??
  8. I hope nothing changes since the "Land of 10,000 Lakes" doesn't have a Bass Pro Shops (which is just weird), we need at least a well stocked Cabelas. I do shop Fleet Farm as well. I also agree that some of the Cabelas brand stuff is very good equipment at reasonable prices. Hope this doesn't screw things up.
  9. The chatterbait is my confidence bait. I fish a lot of stained water and this bait catches a lot of bass for me. I usually just chuck and wind, but I vary my speed to see what the fish want. I will throw it by likely spits ( wood, weeds, mats, etc.) and let it fall to the bottom, them start reeling. Have caught a lot of fish on the initial fall. Colors and trailers are something that has made a big difference for me. Some lakes black/blue or white, some green pumpkin. One of those three always seem to work. Trailers affect the way the bait behaves as well. Experiment with grubs, craws, and swimbaits. 80% of my fish come on a chatterbait or senko. I need to get better with a jig though. Good luck!
  10. I think it is a cool concept. It would be wild to show up tournament day with 4 of these and dominate. Not realistic (heavy, expensive) but I would love one just to be a dork. A dork in a good way, not a negative thing at all. Just my style.
  11. Personal best here for sure. The ice will almost be here in 3 months. It will be time to get the bow out and fling arrows!!
  12. This is definitely the premier site I gave seen. I actually really appreciate the "Strictness" if you call it that. We get enough trash everywhere else. This is a comfort place. Great job with everything and the knowledge is incredible. Thanks to all soon to be 60,000.
  13. They were in the racks on the show floor. Still marked $199.99. I had seen them on sale online, so I grabbed one and price checked it on the scanner thing in-store. It said $49.99. I held that one and sent my daughter back to the scanner with other rods. Some rang up $79.99 or $99.99. I found 2 that rang up $49.99 and bought both. The sales guy asked if there were more left ( he said he wanted to get one for that price). The checker lady also questioned me. She looked at the $199.99 tag and acted like I was cheating them or something. I was happy. They are camouflaged well with no mark down tags or signage anywhere. Good luck!!!
  14. I just picked up 2 Cabelas Arachnid rods for $49.99 each. These are great rods and a steal at that price!
  15. I don't understand the coloring either.......buy a green sharpie!!!
  16. Thanks for the heads up on DSG. I ordered the Berkeley deal and looked around a little more. I found some great deals on Strike King plastics, Zoom, Stanley, and more. Free shipping over $25. My wife thinks I am nuts with buying more but come on. They are giving it away!!!
  17. I was really excited to try my 130's I bought. I finally tried them last weekend and was frustrated. The bait was rolling in the water. It plopped, but was also rolling at times. It twisted up my line even. I have to give it more time, but was not initially impressed.
  18. Anyone have any more experience with the SV reels now that winter is finally over. Going to buy this week. Too many options for my first Daiwa reel. Thanks
  19. Bluebasser is right on, if you feel the blade stop vibrating set the hook. It is either a fish or weeds. If it is weeds, I usually just give a couple hard jerks and it clears them and blade starts vibrating again. These really tell you what's going on. On a good rod with braid, it is almost too much feel. I use mine on a glass rod with Fluorocarbon most of the time.
  20. I use 3/8 and 1/2. I tend to like the 1/2 better. Casts farther and I can place them better in the water column with a 6.4:1 reel by reeling faster or slower. Sometimes the fish tell me they like the 3/8 better. I have my most success with green pumpkin and brown. I use different trailers and have not settled on a favorite. I have even done well on with the ones that come with Zman baits. I usually change them out though. I throw them up by shore and have had bass hit them right when the bait hits the water. I then reel them back at different rates to hit the water column until I find what they want. Usually closer to bottom or a couple feet off. Good luck!!
  21. They are my go to bait. My confidence bait for searching. I usually just throw them towards shore or cover (downed trees, pencil grass, etc.) and straight retrieve them at different speeds. I really found out that different weights make big difference. My daughter was throwing a 1/2 ounce and I was throwing a 3/8. She was killing me. I switched to a 1/2, and it was game on. We caught over 30 bass on them that day. A lot of fun and easy enough for my 13 year old to catch fish.
  22. Was at Cabelas last weekend and they some Megabass 110 for $16. I was going to grab some as I had read about them here, but they also had Lucky Craft pointers for $5.99. I bought those for 1/3 the price.
  23. I will check that out. Thanks again!
  24. Hey Lowrange, That sounds interesting. Do these spools fit Daiwa reels or any reels? Can a knucklehead like me who is not a reel guru figure it out? If it would help me skip with a baitcaster or cast lighter baits, that's my interest. thanks
  25. Thanks everyone! Sounds like I can't go wrong with any SV. Hey Frydog, I would love it if you would post after a little more time with both reels. And let me know how that skipping is going!
