  1. Well after a year of owning a Tracker Pro Angler 16 with a 40hp Merc I loved the boat but with having a family that likes to cruse or fish, My father and I picked up a 2015 (new) Alumacraft 175 Competitor sport with a 2016 115hp Merc. I ordered a Minkotta with the basic V2 from Cabela's in Indiana. They worked with us on the price and got close to 700 in reward points for great. Ill pick it up in two weeks or when its ready
  2. Haha. I said the same to him when I saw the pic. He was holding the net and leaning back to get both the fish and I in his camera.
  3. Last week I went to Shelbyville for two weeks on a rented house boat from Lithia Springs Marina. Had a great time but only one SM bass caught over two weeks, seems like in the last 3 years of 8 bass fishing has been poor. Not one crappy, striper, LM caught I tried everything in my arsenal but nothing but Carp, turtles, and blue cats. Get an idea of size I am 6'6" and 205lbs My largest cat to date. 31.5" and 35lbs.
  4. Ive done both but my fav is fishing with my dad, I soaking up every min I can with him he's my best friend PS. don't tell my wife haha

  6. I have the adjustable post and Im happy I do. being 6'6"
  7. Went to Braidwood Cooling Lake this morning, for the last two weeks i've been doing well with early am fishing but today nothing. Not one bite. Water temps been high with the heat we've been having. 107 on the discharge side and 89 on the intake. Im giving up on Braidwood for the time being till the water temps get in the 70 again and the water clarity comes back.
  8. Welcome, Im new as well and enjoy searching and reading. Im from Il as well and fish northern lakes and rivers, I enjoy fishing Il river, kankakee, and some of the cooling lakes. I do take a week trip to Shelbyville and rent a house boat for 4 nights and tow my boat.
  9. Congrats on the boat, sweet find.. I love my tracker Deep V, only thing I'm sad about is the Force/Mercury O/B were yours has the true merc. Congrats again
  10. When I live in Wy we did a lot of fly fishing in the mountain streams. You will find small lakes hidden in the mountains that would fit a canoe or kayaks.
  11. I tow my 16ft Deep V Tracker ( about 3000 fully loaded) with my 05 Avalanche Z 4x4. I don't even feel the boat. My dad has a 2010 Colorado Z71 and it pulls the boat ok but it struggles on hills and MPG. My dad told me that if he had to pull the boat more than 2hrs away he'd like to use my truck. I would look at the newer body Avalanches they feel like a SUV but you get the pickup bed. They sit a little lower than the trucks
  12. In March at Braidwood Lake opening week This is my boat, 1999 Tracker Pro Angler Deep V16, Come with a 40hp Mercury Force and a 9.8B Nissan. When I first got it in January it came with the Tracker vinyl stickers and trim but over 15 years of deck rub and wear I made some changes; removed the vinyl, wet sanded the paint, buffed and polished, rhino lined the rail, made my own rub rail. This winter Im going to re due the deck, carpet (going Charcoal gray) , add storage, deck LED lights and hopefully next year re-power to a Nissan or Evenrude 60-70hp
  13. Monofilament absorbs moisture after time so even if its has been stored inside it will still deteriorate and weaken over time plus mono gets a memory. For the price of mono I would just toss it.
  14. I have the same question on props. right now on my 40 merc. with a 10 3/8 14p and running 4800rpm (5250 max) and looking to go to a 10" 13p 4 blade to bring my RPM back to 5200
  15. I just got the 2.0 Veritas in M 8-17lb 7ft running 12b mono and its my go to rod for everything. +1 for the 2.0
  16. Taken from braidwood on Tuesday morning 15" cough on mini bass Rapala
  17. All of the river in the northern part of the state are flooded, looked this morning and the Illinois River in Ottawa at flood stage and the Kankakee River is dangerously high. So Im stuck to cooling lake and small retention ponds by the house. I did get a nice 15" LM at Braidwood Cooling Lake on Tuesday.
  18. Scott F, I tried that with no luck. Ive been in contact with the shows producer and he was able to give me his number. Turns out he does not have a website and is not listed in the exhibitors.
  19. Hello, Im looking for a decorative hand carved lure for my father, last feb Tinley Park Il HS puts on a fishing show that we attended. My father found one exhibit that the guy hand carved wooden lures that ranged from 4-20" long and were very nicely done. My father looked at every lure and was going to buy one but changed his mind and we left. Now that my father is retiring from his job of 45 years I want to get one for him to put on his desk. Problem is I can not find that exhibitor anywhere and when trying to find him I get nothing. Im even tried calling the show host and he's not returning my calls. I remember the guy saying he was from Joliet Il area. I am open to other carvers but from the pictures Ive seen I'm not that impressed. Anyone that went to the show remember this exhibitor or know of a well made wooden lure?
