  1. I just bought an Abu Garcia Pro Max 3 on ebay. Was brand new and I won the bid at $54. Retail price is $79. Pretty happy with is so far, especially for the price.
  2. I've used braid for every type of fishing. I even use it when I go trout fishing. I love it. I can't stand how other lines have memory and get twisted up.
  3. I've had the best luck with the Chartreuse/Black Back color. I started using it because that's what KVD was said to have won a tourney with and boy was he right.
  4. I actually did try the Ned rig. It was my first time trying it though so I was learning how to use it. I was able to catch two fish but they were small. I could get them to look at it but they didn't seem to interested. I had three poles set up. Ned rig, Senko and a creature type bait. I had also thrown a jig and crank bait.
  5. I just went to a local pond yesterday and I saw the LMB started spawning. They were all along the banks and I could see their beds. The bite was extremely slow. I threw my usual square bill crank bait and they never even looked. Since they are protecting their beds I through out a creature bait and put it close. This really got their attention but they still didn't bite right away, just stared at it. I was able to entice a few bites though and throughout the day I caught about 7 of them.
  6. Is this reel any good? It's on Flash Sale at Dick's right now for $59.98 which is $100 off. The reviews are not that great but there are only 10 of them. Curious if anyone here has used them since they are a really good price now.
  7. I fished in my first fishing tourney yesterday and I have a whole new respect for it. It's a ton of work and I was whooped by the time I got home. It's a full day of work. The fishing is really the easy part although can be the most frustrating.
  8. Color can very important. Just yesterday I was fishing in a bass tourney with my brother-in-law and we were both using square billed crank baits. I was using the chartreuse/black back color and he was trying a couple different colors. He got skunked and I caught 6.
  9. Some of my favorite fishing is going on the Mississippi and fishing the wing dams with just a heavy sinker with a worm on a hook. Catching fish isn't really luck but what species you catch is pretty lucky. It's a crap shoot which is what makes it so much fun. Just let your pole sit there and wait for a bite while you sit back and drink some beer and snack with friends. We catch anything from walleye, large mouth bass, small mouth bass, blue gills, sheepshead, moon eye, dogfish, catfish, red horse, carp and even sturgeon.
  10. I always have my backpack with whatever tackle I need to focus on the fish I want that day. Sometimes more spinners, sometimes more crank baits and sometimes more top water baits. Depending on where I'm fishing I will bring 1 to 3 rods. If I'm trout fishing all I need is one light rod. If I'm fishing around a pond I'll bring 2 or 3 depending on how many different types of lures I want to fish. I hate having to switch baits out too often.
  11. Why can't it be that too? Nothing wrong with just plopping a bobber and worm on hook out there while sitting back downing some beers.
  12. I went on the Mississippi on the 15th and we caught a lot of small mouth and large mouth. Also caught a few walleye. We mostly used square billed crank baits and red eye shad.
  13. I really like to use the Orange Craw color. I'm in Iowa but fish in MN every year. I've caught lots of small mouth, large mouth and walleye with it.
  14. What kind of reel would you recommend using with a rod like that for cranking? I'm going on a walleye fishing trip in a month and we will mostly be trolling, pulling cranks and pretty deep in some parts.
  15. Find a pay TV service that carries the Outdoor Channel and record the series. This is the best way.
  16. I've got three rods at home that I broke the ends off of. One was right at the tip but the other two were about 6 inches, right above the second eye. I broke the one last Friday and continued to use it. I ended up catching a lot of fish on it yet so I figured I should just replace the tips.
  17. I don't think the BassMaster tourneys have any issues with making money from a local presence but the big money is in TV ratings. That's where sponsors pay the big bucks for advertising and the typical bass tourney is boring for most to watch on TV. The MFL format may not be great for local entertainment but it meant more to draw attention to TV viewers and that's where they will make the most money and gain exposure to more people which will lead to more people wanting to fish. Brilliant idea on the new format. MFL is starting to broadcast their show on CBS at noon before it shows on the cable channel. This is a great move because now it's available to everyone nationwide for free with a simple antenna.
  18. By far my favorite fishing show ever. Love the format.
  19. I've been looking to buy a Curado 200E7 but they are all going for over $150 on ebay. I really want one but can't imagine spending that much on a used real. I would consider $100 but even that seems ridiculous since the most I've ever spent on any reel is $60 and that was brand new.
  20. I haven't heard a lot of great things about this reel or the brand which turns me off. The $100 off perks me up though. I would love to find a higher quality reel at that price point. I'm still debating.
  21. Yeah, that's way too long to wait for something. I'd go crazy.
  22. Yes. It's $59.99.
  23. This the pack I've been using the last 3 years and I've really liked it. I do a lot of trout fishing and shore fishing so this bag helps a ton. https://www.tacklewarehouse.com/catpage-OKUMSTORAGE.html?from=basres
  24. I know this is an old thread but Dick's has a Flash Sale right now selling them for $59.98. Seems like a great deal if the reel is decent. The original price is $159.99.
  25. Twitter is fantastic for staying up to date on anything. I follow sports writers from my favorite teams. I also follow certain fishing shows and people who share tips. Most times you'll see news posted on Twitter before you'll see it anywhere else.
