Group I am wanting to get into some river fishing here locally. Specifically the Ouachita and Caddo (Arkansas) Any fishing specific canoe recommendations?

We did clean the fish. I'll let you know how it goes. I accidentally snagged it cranking for bass. I snagged it on its back side so it literally was able to pull away from me instead of usually where they are backed out a lot of the time. The daily paddlefish limit in Arkansas is 2. I'd like to see two of those caught in way day.

Dear fisher folk, My cousin-in-law and myself went fishing at Beaver Lake In Arkansas a few days ago and initially were going after crappie. The crappie weren't biting so we switched to cranks for some bass fishing...well we were about to move to a new spot when low and behold my crank bait went to the depths of the lake. I could not find out what was happening. Mind you, I had 10 lb test. So I fight and fight for about 10 minutes....my compadre was laughing his head off. I had my fishing rod in my lap like I was deep sea fishing. Finally a mosteresque tail comes about...we obviously couldn't fit it in the dip net....so we got it up and he dragged it in the boat by the tail. 47 lbs. paddlefish I hooked on the side with my crank. A day not to forget. Also, my compadre caught this nice 5lb 4 oz largie.

Experts, I will be fishing a 6 acre pond tomorrow. Sunrise is about 7:11. Probably going to be blue skies once the sun is up. It is going to get down to 46 tonight...high of 71 tomorrow. Would you guys have any guidance for tackle? Is it fall yet? Obviously "time is of the essence" cheers

hey guys, i appreciate the most excellent help on my "first 100 dollars help me build a newb kit" in the "fishing tackle" section. yesterday, i went to a pond on a church camp where my friends parent works. when i first got there i caught a tiny tiny bass on a bettle spinner. i didn't have much luck. then, a lady that worked there came up and said "hey, they drained this pretty low not too long ago." She was very helpful and suggested i head down to the small creek below, that there were a few holes deep enough to hold a bass. so i went down there. i had been creek fishing w/ others before a few times, but nothing this tight. so i got my shimano sedona spinning reel and slapped on a bleeding tube w/ a bullet weight weedless style. i swore i saw one right under a bridge...so i crawled down there and was only able to pitch like 5 feet out....so i slowly dragged...dragged. POP....pull...and yank....my first bass on my own....after going w/ others and seeing them weigh them...i looked to be about 1.25-1.5 lbs....so i went down a bit further and missed like 4 bass....(i wasn't beeing patient enough....) then i ended up catching another that was about 1.25 lbs it seemed...then before i left for the day...i went back to the bridge....by a down log...and plopped one in..i was reeling back and was like..dang ...i am hung....i reeled in a bit...and sure enough i had a bass! it was my first really like "good looking" bass i had of the day..it was a solid 2 lbs... needless to say i won't forget my trip....there was nothing like doing all my own lures..picking the right lures and having them work..and feel like i new what i was doing slightly. thanks for all your help guys!

Ok here it goes: 1) Got a box each of 1/8 and 1/4 ounce bullet weights 2) i got quite a few 3/0 and 4/0 "gammy" hooks..both offset and worm 3) Bought a two bags of tubes..one green and one red salt impreg bleeding ones 4) Bought one bag white flukes...and one bag both green pumpkin and watermelon finesse worms 5) Bought some trilene xt line 6) bought a DT-10 rapala...and a zara puppy 7) bought 5 different jigs...different colors 8) bought a white buzzbait 9) bought about 4 spinner baits...white chart and black 10) also, a local judge here who fishes gave me some crankbaits and rat l traps he hadn't ever used..he is a long time bait monkey victim. so how'd i Grade out?

UPDATE: this evening I had my first "bait monkey" attack. i appreciate you all. i took suggestions from each of you. is there a bait monkey initiation?

dear all wise and knowing board, here is my request: i have recently bought a nice soft tackle bag/box. i now have $100 dollars to spend on beginner "tackle". my request is that you build a list of gear that "covers the basics" that you feel a newb needs starting off. so what are you waiting for....spend $100 dollars. i appreciate this so much fisherlegends!
