  1. Would this rod be a equally to or better choice for a bfs casting rod.than a jdm bfs rod? Like a mastercraft. I'm looking to upgrade for a 1000xt shimano
  2. For carolina rigs I dislike carolina keepers very much and use a swivel. Due to slippage and line twist. I used to use braid but I've pretty much gone f/c. On one set up I use braid for senkos with about a 10 foot f/c leader. Enough leader when I put my hook on the hook keeper and reel up slack the Alberto knot never gets to the spool. I also use the same set up for dropshotting
  3. Bruce from paradise tackle co. Builds the best jigs in my opinion
  4. if you could shoot me a message when that revoew hits the forums I'd very much appreciate it. We're not rod snobs are we? No way. Just particular
  5. wow. Back to the drawing board. Maybe a bfs shimano rod may be the ticket
  6. I'm in the same boat. After selLing a tfo because it was my least favorite rod I owned. I bought another 7 foot medium light for a scorpion 1000xt for very small baits. 1/8 oz jigs panther martens , 4 inch senkos weightless with #2 finesse hooks. On 8 PouND trilene 100% percent. It cast great. But I after the cast it's dead. Just like the last one. I wished I would have just waited on a jdm and got the majorcraft volkey bfs. Don't let sells man fool you into buying a tfo claiming they fish with a garyloomis. Because they don't even come close. Buyers remorse. However it is very fun to fish. Just wish I had a better rod
  7. One time my buddy broke off an "8 pounder at least" we were bank fishing. Bout an hour later I catch a nice 2.5# with a Yello h&h spinner bait in his mouth... "Hey Thomas what we're you using when you broke off that lunker?" Sure enough... 8 pounder my a $$
  8. a little over 22 years ago and I remember it very well.
  9. If I had to pick from my rods. I'd take my orochii xx emtf, orochii xx pitch perfect, falcon cara st amistad, 84 j&w imx , and my imx 843 mbr. My style is jigs and worms. Today I had 2 c rigs a t rig a jig and a weightless fluke/dropshot (same rod). I could make due with those techniques all year and never throw a crankbait or spinner bait. And I do t think I leave fish on the table by not fishing more cranks spinners chatter baits w/e. Most of the time. But that's me. Bass ain't that smart Yall. He's sees a bait and makes a decision .
  10. I could probably get away with 3 or 4 plastics for the rest of my life, fluke. Lizard, brushhog. And a senko. Honorable mentions rattle snakes, and biffle bug and ribbon tail worm. I really believe color is the least important detail when presenting a bait. Green pumpkin works for me
  11. what are some of your favorite baits to throw on that set up
  12. how do you like the reel? What rod did u go wi th
  13. I guess I have a stigma with Chinese made products. Have 3 of these rods. They are my favorites. Beating g loomis and falcon cara st's. But part of me wishes they were made in japan (like I assumed) they are great rods. So I guess I won't worry about it
  14. What would be a good general purpose rod to start out with.if I do go jdm
  15. I've teamed up with a buddy fishing a weightless fluke directly under a zaraspook. Long cast with the spook wait until the spook gets about halfway back to the boat and then try to hit the Zara spook with your super fluke and walk the dog with both back to the boat. I've had some surprisingly great days with this technique
  16. you've broke dt's too? I've lost 2 small mouth cranking rip rap. Reeled in just a broken off bill of a DT 6 both times
  17. 43# bag in February 46 degree water. Lake Monticello TX
  18. After using higher end rods it's hard to go back. I.E. gloomis imx, orochii xx. I've yet to pay over 350 for a rod. So I'd say that would be at the top end for me. I have a 50echronarch and a scorpion 1000xt that I could possibly modify with drilled spool to use for bfs. And then probably still hanker for the bfs aldebaran mg limited and still give in to the bait monkey. Fishing for me is almost like beer for alcoholics. Got to have it.
  19. I'm thinking like 6 or 8# test max
  20. 1/8 -1/4 max small jig heads w/grubs 4 senkos small split shots and drop shots. Very small mini cranks and plugs probably 1/4 oz at the most to as light as I can effectively fish. Small jig heads w/grubs splits shots drop shots mini cranks and plugs. Weightless 4 inch senkos...
  21. 1/8-1/4oz or lighter if I have the abilities. I'm thinking light jig heads with small grubs 4" senkos. Light drop shots light split shots. Small plugs and cranks. 8# line max
  22. I've had the urge to buy a bfs limited aldebaranmg for a while. And then no more rods or reels for a while.what rods do you guys pair with. I'd like to find a usdm rod comparable to a volkey 6 9 ul per se. Just so I can handle a rod before I buy. Pretty big deal for me. Reels not so much. I'm a shimano man through and through they've my trust.
  23. Thanks for the input. Some things to think about. I'm even thinking about running 65 braid and using a 6-8 foot leader and adjusting Lear size to the baits Im throwing. I try not to keep it too technical and just fish.
  24. Idk but I don't want to be limited because of my reel. On either side of the weight spectrum. Probably hard gills spro bbz 1 8 inch. Megabass I slide 185. R2sea slide baits. Hudds 316 pro wakes I'd say max probably 8oz min 2 oz. As the rod is rated .5-8oz. I'd like a reel that could handle the same range as the rod.
