  1. Does anybody have a link to a video of Klein using that zebco 33 in the classic? I checked YouTube but didn't see anything.
  2. Columbus checking in. I fish goat rock when I take the boat out and beat the banks of the parks and water sheds in town. Pulled a couple out of Cooper creek park yesterday swimming a T rig rage craw.
  3. Somehow one of my PawPaw's crankbaits ended up in my bed and when I slid my leg up when I woke up it hooked me in the heel and the couch simultaneously. I was stuck for a little while. The worst time was when he hooked me in the back of the head with three trebbles all the way to the curve after I had just caught the first fish after two hours of nothing. He reached for his players and I said absolutely not and we went to the hospital. Did get one my favorite BBQ sandwiches though afterwards and the doctor let me keep the the three stats he used on me. I still use em to unhook fish 12 years later.
  4. I agree. My advice is to go to a Walmart in the ghetto where you won't find alot of avid fisherman. There was a drive by on a drug dealers car six houses up from me where they shot almost thirty rounds of .223 two weeks ago and a guy was killed behind my house last night. The Walmart a mile from my house always has my zoom bubblegum worms and my favorite old school rapalas.
  5. I always fish the ramp and dock before I launch to see what I can get before disturbing the area. If you are not in the way of someone loading or launching there nothing wrong with it. If you are fishing a dock or on your dock fishing I will move to the next out of respect and common courtesy but if you come down to give me grief I'll probably slow down fish it very thoroughly. When my family owned a house on the lake with a dock we never had a problem with people fishing it. As a kid I always liked to talk to the people who fished my dock and see if I could learn a new trick. Sometimes they would even throw me a new soft plastic that they were getting lucky with that day so I could try it too. I now do the same when kids come down to talk to me.
  6. I use deet when bank fishing in an attempt to keep the ticks off and have never noticed a decrease in bass.
  7. I can't afford prescription sunglasses so I use the polarized strike king clip ons for $8 at Walmart. I'm happy with them. Not the most stylish but I'm a function over form guy.
  8. So I bought some rebel teeny crawfish the other day to catch some nice sized bluegill to eat and when we went and launched the next the next day I started throwing it next to the ramp and immediately hooked a small bass about a pound. He was on for about three seconds and I saw him come off. No big deal. When I reeled in my lure I noticed that the back treble hook had pulled out of the lure. I was flabbergasted. I've been using these for years and have caught multiple much bigger bass and crappie with them and never had a problem besides occasionally having to tune one. I'm gonna take it back and exchange it. This ever happen to y'all?
  9. Wasn't it bill dance who won a tournament from the bank with a plastic worm when he was young. Don't knock the pond fisherman. The guy who shows up with his 20lb tacklebox and six rods at the local pond when his boat is in the shop and needs his bass fix is always outfished by the teenager with one or two rods and a zip lock of lures in his back pack. While my teen years have started becoming distant memories I still try most of my lures out at ponds first in the local park. Park ponds are some of the most heavily fished waters and a breeding ground for innovation. As for wacky rigging in general me and my dad just thought it was a different way to hook a trick worm a long time before we had a computer to read all the latest techniques. I'm sure we didnt do it first but we were the first on our lake and it was pretty much the product of some guys who had thrown every bait they had with no results and tried something else on a whim. We never heard of anyone else doing it before and thought it would be something the fish hadn't seen. We tore em up. Sometimes a couple inches one way or the other is all it takes. Keep doing what your doing senko lover.
  10. Went out today for large mouth. Caught a 10 inch spot, a 2.2 lb striper, and a 1.5 lb white bass.

  13. Also put a post in the southeast regional forum for info on the lake.
  14. Strike king kvd and rapala
  15. Casts a mile and the yellow perch one is beautiful. Good sharp hooks too.
  16. I've used a weightless trick worm with good results if its not a solid mat. I use a swivel a foot ahead of my lure when fishing weightless to prevent line twist and in algae it has the added benefit of catching stray strands of algae before the foul my bait. I've caught bass on my worm with a chunk of algae the size of a tennis ball on my swivel.
  17. When I was about 14 or so I went to down to catfish on the neighbors dock for a change of pace and i was kneeling right on the edge baiting my hooks when a massive shape slowly rose up next to the dock I thought was a gator at first but it was actually a monster 60 lb catfish that was covered in battle scars. It swam just under the surface the width of the dock and went back down as I frantically tried to get my lines in the water. Looking back I should have just tried to shove my hand in its mouth. I dont think me reaching for it would have bothered it a bit. It was just swimming along like it knew there was nothing big enough to eat it or bother it.
  18. Don't know why "catch" was asterisked.
  19. Same thing happened to me at a pond today. Week straight of rain, cooler temps, peak of spawn, and the water had the visibility of gravy. Did see a hawk try to ****** a duckling though. That was kinda cool.
  20. Me too. It was a $100 off. I love the down imaging. Mine is mounted on the front deck and the transducer is on the troller motor. Id say for $200 its a steal. I've just been fiddling with it when I go on the water but I'm about to start mapping with the Insight that was included free. When the summer heat rolls in I'm looking forward to using it for deep cranking and drop shoting.
  21. I'd say a strike king 1.5 square bill, the one that say shallow diver and only goes to three ft, its good on the bank too since u don't have to worry about snagging the bottom too much. I like the natural bream one. A couple of hard jerkbaits in different sizes and colors. I prefer yellow perch mainly the strike king kvd and rapala. I'd also get one that's a real screamer in something like hot pink for when natural doesn't it. A couple spinnerbaits. I like the strike mini ones. I'd say match match the local forage overall but keep a couple wild things in reserve in case the fish are pressured.
  22. That's not good. Any pictures?
