I finally got my Jointed Pikie
I've already ordered some Owner STX #1 trebles and some split rings from Amazon.

Ever catch the same fish twice?
I absolutely caught the same dink bass twice in the same spot about an hour apart while I was fishing with a guide. It looked like it had survived some trauma because it was crooked as a question mark. I told the guide he should keep it the second time because it was obviously trying to commit suicide.

Tipping a Guide?
These are good points. Some folks can barely scrounge the basic charter together even sharing it with a friend. Then some folks won't bat an eyelash at a $400 day for just themselves. I had a striper guide once who wanted to set the hooks for us and hand us rods. He told us if we limited the trip was over. I was no kid even back then. I don't think a 20% tip should be expected from a guy who just stunk it up all day. I also think it is definitely expected for a great day or a new PB. I'd gladly tip well for a new PB.

I finally got my Jointed Pikie
I've wanted one of these since I watched a YouTube video of guys jigger poling with it. I found one in an antique shop in the mountains at a fair price (with no shipping cost). It's about 7 1/2" long and 1 3/4 oz. The hooks are pretty much shot if I want to actually use it. It's hard to tell, but a couple of the hook points are broken. They also look pretty oversized. What would you replace them with? I was thinking of using some Spook takeoffs. The stock ones seem a tad oversized anyway.

Summer morning topwater
Frog, fist and foremost. Whopper Plopper, Chug Bug, buzzbait, whatever other topwater might strike my fancy. I'll fish them later in the day as well if I can keep getting a bite every so often. Hit every shady spot with one. The frog is an all day bait to me. My last two PBs came the heat of summer in the morning. One was on a Chug Bug and the other was a spinnerbait in shallow water.

This Makes Me Mad.
My buddy keeps a few used gatorade bottles of water in the freezer for this purpose. But he keeps all his average size bass as well as crappie and bream of eating size. He basically has a slot of 1.5-3 lb. bass he'll keep.

Another how big is this bass topic.
I'm going to throw out 9. Could really be 10. That gut is big and so is the mouth, but the eyes are not "buggy" and he's long-arming it. I'm still jealous though. Could really be 10.

War eagle hook bend overly aggressive?
I just bought some #2 Gammy EWG trebles to replace some on my bigger topwaters. They look great. I ordered a box of 9. Amazon sent me 10 at the price of 1. So I have more than a lifetime supply.
- Has anyone else noticed?

New PB, how much do you think this weighs?
I'd say 5, but my guesstimate is always a pound high. Congrats. What did you catch her on?

Fluke fishing questions
I see the weightless fluke as a 1-5' depth lure. I would use a weighted hook to get deeper.

Hello World.. part-time basser from NC
Welcome. You can fish for small mouth as close as the Broad River in SC. I see on social media there are some good ones in there. That's on my list as well. I've never caught a brown bass.

A good underspin spincast reel
Here it is. Looks like it's the underspin version of the GoldCast spincast reel. https://daiwa.us/collections/spincast-reels/products/underspin-us-xd

It couldn't have gone much worse this morning
The bite has been getting really slow at this place. But it's the place I fish with the biggest bass and I've been able to catch some quality fish until last two tries. I'm wondering if I should fish evenings for a while.

It couldn't have gone much worse this morning
Which reminds me I also forgot my scupper plugs so I had the wet behind all morning.

It couldn't have gone much worse this morning
I thought if I stayed I was destined to fall in the lake.

It couldn't have gone much worse this morning
I forgot my kayak crate so I was down 4 rod holders. I got a backlask and my Whopper Plopper 110 went sailing 20' up in a tree. One of my seat support straps broke (it's less than 1 year old). I managed 1 dink on a frog, missed 3 and lost a decent fish on a H2O express lipless crank. I got off the water by 10:00 so nothing else could go wrong.

Best Leader to Lure connection
I use 25 lb test Tactical Anglers clips. I bought what's probably a lifetime supply. I admit I do it to make lure changes easy and quick in a kayak. But it has the effect you're seeking.

Flipping rod?
Yeah I don't have a kayak you can stand on. Well, maybe you can, but I have a hard enough time on level ground.

Kayak fishing the everglades
If I lived near there I'd definitely go with you.

Wife is hard on her new reel, looks terrible
My dad was the biggest cheapskate when it came to fishing equipment. He would buy the cheapest mono in the store and never change it until he was losing fish and baits. I would go behind him and rig his combos up right.

Wife is hard on her new reel, looks terrible
Maybe show her how to hold the rod under her arm or between her knees when she catches one. Or just buy her another when that one breaks. No biggie.

Rebel Pop-R and Heddon Tiny Torpedo
I think it happens when you drop a bait right in their face and they decide to take the easy meal. I seems to happen to me right after the cast when I'm letting it sit.

Line recommendations for my setups and techniques?
I like 30 lb PowerPro for my medium duty BC combos, 50 lb for frogs. I like 20 lb PP for my spinning combos. I'm still using 15 lb Big Game for my spinner/buzzbaits combo.
