  1. As mentioned previously the shallows are a good place to focus your attention. However I fish ponds a lot and after a hard rain they have almost zero visibility from all the mud. Im these conditions it is important to Try baits that are louder and stand out more than normal(chartreuse of black). I tend to like rattletraps and spinnerbaits, however a rattle on a worm or jig could do the trick. Stick to baits you are comfortable with just make them brighter and noisier. Hope this helps!
  2. So you like the ones that make a mild noise, as opposed to complete silent or the normal loud rattling. Interesting.
  3. Some of the people who spoke of the bait not being silent seemed to think the weights in the bait were loose and thus causing the rattling.
  4. So I've been wanting to try out the silent version of the Red Eye Shad. However, I have heard mixed reviews about some baits not actually being silent. Do any of you have experience with this? Do i need to go into Bass Pro to make sure I get one that is actually silent? Or is a slight rattling normal with these?

I actually like the bronzeye shad better than any frog

Of the ones you listed I would go with the booyah pad crashed, a frog that rivals anything else at a good price. I especially like how soft they are, I rarely miss a fish. Good luck!
  7. You get extra points for bass pro brand and affiliated brands like browning fishing gear.
  8. As far as stickbaits go they are 1A and 1B. The GY is slightly better however, it sinks faster and is softer. However the Dinger is 1/3 of the price, lasts longer, and has a decent scent that can help in certain situations. Basically what I am saying is that they are both great but if I am struggling to put fish in the boat I will always choose the GY Senko. My 2¢
  9. 1.) Weightless Super Fluke, Watermelon w/ Red Flake 2.) Wacky Rigged 5" Senko, Watermelon w/ Green Pumpkin Laminate 3.) Strike King Red Eye Shad 3/8, Chrome w/ Blue back (Tie with Original Rattle-Trap) 4.) KVD 3/8 Spinnerbait Willow/Colorado blades, Sexy Shad 5.)Zman TRD on 1/15 Shroom Head, Green Pumpkin (FYI, #6 would be a 3/8 Black Cavitron Buzzbait. I only leave it out because while topwater is my favorite, when pushed to choose what I absolutely need to make sure I cover my bases and catch fish... I suppose I don't need any topwater baits.)
  10. Have you considered a lipless crankbait like the SK Red Eye Shad or a Rattle-Trap? I fish these in under 3 ft all the time at local lakes. The big benefit of lipless cranks is that they sink instead of diving, so you just countdown to let them sink to the proper dept before retrieving. In shallow water you simply begin the retrieve as soon as the bait hits the water and then control the depth with your rod tip.
  11. Tough Question. Probably a tie between, a weightless fluke, a rattle-trap, a KVD Spinnerbait, and the ned rig. They all were big producers at different times and in different places.
  12. In my experience you would be wise to only throw topwater baits when the sun is not on the water. Likewise I almost always start my day with topwater baits because often times(not always, but a general rule of thumb) the topwater bite quits about the time the sun gets above the tree line. It usually will pick up again in the later evening. However, some other things that can help the topwater bite are overcast days and wind(the ripples on the surface distort the sunlight under the water). So with these factors in mind a lot of times you can pick which topwater bait you prefer. Like said previously, Buzzbaits are a strong option most of the year, but all of them work and it is more about you building confidence with one or two of them. I would suggest picking two, one that you will use to cover water quickly when the bite is hot(Buzzbaits, buzzfrogs, propbaits, wakebaits, etc.) and one that you will master when the fish aren't as aggressive(popper, spook, topwater frog, etc.)
  13. I can't speak to this year, as the rules may have changed. But last year I did a rod trade in when buying a St. Croix and got the discount. So unless the rules have changed you should be able to get the discount with any brand.
  14. x3 for the Black Cavitron Buzzbait. Totally changed my appreciation for buzzbaits.

I do the same thing. I have 5-6 quality spinnerbaits with different weights and blade combinations, and I buy different color skirts to change out to match the hatch and conditions. KVD and Terminator now have skirts that are incredibly easy to change out.
  16. If you really can't find Yo-Zuri, I have found P-Line's Copolymers to do well for me while fishing for smallmouth in shallow rivers.
  17. You make a good point. It definitely takes the guesswork out of it. Do you have a favorite color?
  18. 1A.) Gary Yamamoto Senko 1B.) Yum Dinger 2.) Everything Else
  19. I was also curious to this question. I have only used Keitech Swing Impact and I wanted to know how the speed shad compares. Someone help us!
  20. So I picked up the Ned Rig last summer and had great results! However I was wondering if anyone has had a lot of or better success on alternative soft plastics attached to the Jig Head? So far I have only used TRD's and cut in half Senkos.
  21. KVD Dream Shot in Watermelon has been my best producer.
  22. Also. If you have used it, please comment on which color you prefer.
  23. I am inclined to agree with you. I read these things as I was researching which spinnerbaits to buy because at the time I was trying to better learn how use them and preparing to buy a couple quality ones. I am assuming those whose opinion is they wear out after 8-10 bass are people who get picky about whether or not to use the bait again if the wire has been bent already.
