Bass Breaking The Surface Help.
So there's a nice lake I got to and almost every day I go towards the night... I see monster surface blow ups. I think they are carp, bass or wipers but I've never seen blow ups like this from carp. My question is if they are bass, what does this mean.... I try jigs near the blow ups and usually nothing or top water jitterbugs, buzz baits, pop r and frogs to no avail. Can anyone help me with this. Just point me in the right direction and I'll do the rest. Thanks guys

Confidence Baits...jigs Ain't On The Last.
Just wait till you start using that jig more.... The bites get intense and the fish get bigger. I truly agree a few others I've talked to.... Jogs worked because it is a more compact profile that looks like a big meal compared to long slender magnum type worms. Don't get me wrong, they catch big fish but it's all about presentation.

New To Bass Fishin
Welcome to BS.... While I'm not seasoned I'll share a few tips with you that helped me get to where I am. 1. Have confidence... We get skunked at times or very to little fish, but have confidence in what your doing and using. 2. When trying a lure you want to get better with, bring that lure with you and only that lure. It forces you to use it all day and get used to it. 3. Take in info and focus one thing at a time. If you try to go out and do plastics, swim baits, jerk bait, spinners ext you'll be scatterbrained and get frustrated. I still ha e so much to learn and and two years later in finally developing patterns on a consistent basis. 4. Since your a bank guy like me fan cast and alternate your retrieves and if there's structure your think fish are set up on.... Hit it from multiple angles. Remember bass set up to ambush prey. So one angle may not be what's he wants while another is. It also may take multiple casts to and object to finally get a bite. 5. When you reel in your lure of choice learn what it feels like.... If you feel you lose contact with it. Sometimes that sudden lose of contact or disturbance is a fish.remember hook sets are free.... Not fish.

A Different "private Pond" Question
Bud I will say this.... While it does take some know how to catch a fish and little in your situation.... of you know your going to catch fish... Use this time to use some lures you haven't tried and gain some confidence in them.....I did this when learning jigs..... I drove the interstate and saw farm ponds and asked permission. I gained confidence in not only Jigs but swim jigs, chatterbaits and topwater other then my buzzbait.

Netbaits And Rage Crawfish
I second the claws ripping off but I catch multiple fish and it takes like 5 before mine starts to tear and the claws only rip if that's what they grabbed onto. But at the price of the netbaits.... I don't care.

Confidence Baits...jigs Ain't On The Last.
Take it from me.... Only been bass fishing for two years truly trying and until I joined this site I had never caught a thing on them while owning 4 jigs for almost 5 years. They do catch fish and I've hooked into bigger fish because of them. It's a slow moving bait with a more compact profile to entice the biggest fish. Here's what u was told to do and after patience and really trying I got hooked on them. First.... Go to the lake... Bring a jig and trailer and only that. Fish it all day.... 9 times out of 10 for me, they always hit on the fall. You have to learn to line watch!!!! Line watch line watch line watch. Got it? Next learn your jigs ROF and toss it into the water.... Keep the slack up, stay in contact with your jig but still keep enough slack that it may vertically fall. If she hits a few things can happen.... A). Shel run with it and I saw my line just dart off to the left right and straight out.... Reel down, load the pole and set the hook. on the fall she may just inhale it and stay there. Line watch is important why? Because when she sucked in the water and stayed there you'll notice your line suddenly snap and you'll notice it hasn't hit the bottom. Reel down set the hook. And there were times I didn't know she had it and when I wiggles the jigs he was already there... Reel down set the hook. Now, once it hits the bottom before you move it.... Shake or jiggle the rod just enough to make that jig mover ever so slightly before you pull or hop it. I do this because if she's looking at it nose down and hasn't hit yet.... It's like a dog looking at a ball.... Move and your mine. I can't tell you how any times in that situation I've had my rod literally taken fromy had from aggressive fish. If she doesn't take it here wait a few seconds and begin your retrieve wether it's a hip hop pause repeat after a few seconds or you drag it or just pick it up and let fall. At this time I want to say I love football jigs. You can truly feel the bottom and prefer them over Caroline tungsten weights. Throw these near wood you physical can see, or rocks or weeds and pay attention when you drag it. And see what they feel like. Mud will feel like your just sliding along, Weeds will be very resistant at times and branches feel like you've run into something slow down and hop it over by lifting the rod upwards....if you drag it sideways... I'm gonna bet you'll snag a lot more. And rocks and gravel feel like a tap tap tap. Now it's always important to keep in contact with your jig and are you still watching your line? Hope so. If you feel like you brok off your line especially after a hop over structure reel down and set the hook. Remember hook sets are free... Not fish. If your just staring out.... Go finesse with a small trailer... I personally like the baby paca chunks with these in the 3/8oz size. If it's really windy I go up to 1/2oz. Now I have all kinds of sizes but start with a 3/8 and add a trailer... The plastic can help slow the fall and displace lots of water. And to make colors really simple. There's tour base colors of brown, green pump inks, watermelon and black. Those 4 will handle Any and I mean Any situation. Match your trailer and your set. You don't need all these crazy colors and if you want say watermelon green pumpkin... Use a green pumpkin jig but use a watermelon red trailer. Like I said use the base colors for the jig and get those other colors with the trailers.... There a lot cheaper to have a bunch of those then a bunch of different color jigs. Don't make this hard. I hope this helps you as I know it's a lot. It will save you time and money and be patient.... It will be rewarding.

How Would You Fish Water Like This?
Any time I've seen muddy water I just use all chart/white or a fire tiger..... Or other combos like that with the main color chartreuse. I also like big water displacement baits like a d-bomb or a hyper freak on a jig. I like crank sits the most...I like the arashi cranks.... Always run true out of the box and they have nice wobbles. If the waters calm then I like buzz and wake baits. I'm kinda new to bass fishing... Two years now but it's what I have success with in the Iowa/Nebraska area.

What To Do In This Situation
Thanks guys that's what I was thinking I did pick 2lb and two more dinks off the same stump .... The good thing about this lake is that it's one of those bigger lakes surrounded by nice houses but all they do is run around it. I'm there morning afternoon and evening and I barely see people fish so Im sure I'll see her soon.

Any Clubs In Omaha Nebraska Or Close?
I'm looking for a club or group of people that love bass fishing and don't mind that I shore fish 98% of the time. I just don't have a boat. I'm a quick learner and do pretty good one own. Thanks guys

Netbaits And Rage Crawfish
Ok so in the last month or so my journey with jigs I've been using the netbaits paca craw sr and rage chunk trailers..... I will say I love the action on both of these. While I catch more fish on the paca craws, the rage chunks have gotten me more fierce and bigger bites. I like using a brown main color jig with Alabama paca craw color. And a green pumpkin or watermelon jig with a green pumpkin rage chunk. Up next the full size versions for Texas rigging and punching

What To Do In This Situation
So some of you said throw that jig more and I sure have. In the last month I have increased my bass number by ten fold with jigs. Today I lost a 5lb plus fish in the weeds.... What are the odds when a fish comes off that you can catch it again? I know when I miss top water I have a follow up. Or is it pretty much not going to happen since I hooked him and tuff luck move on?

Finding Bigger Fish In This Pond.
Ok so there is a residential area that has a lake in the middle of them. There aren't socks or anything. Just the lake. Now I can take a buzz bait, spinner, or hop a jog along the shore next to the gobs of cat tailish plants sticking out of the wAter and smash 2 1lbers every 20-30 feet. The lake has some shows low areas say 1 foot to 7 feet as far as I can cast. I'm bank fishing no boat. I know there are some bigger fish around the 18 inch mark and I'm having trouble finding them. It seems that I can see weed plants coming up in bunches everywhere on one side and on the deeper end straight miss and weeds on the bottom. I've tried buzz baits in the early mornings, and late evenings and it flat out works for those smaller fish.... Spinnerbaits do the same and produce all day.... I can even get them all wound up on a crank. I haven't had much luck with plastics but jigs tend to get bites as my back up if I miss a fish. Even when I downsize I get more bites but not bigger fish. So what am I missing. I know there's bigger fish I. The water and can easily fish the whole lake fan casting each area I'm at twice in a four hour span and I do fish areas people can't and won't fish. Anyways... Any help to guide me to find these bigger fish would be awesome.... It only has bass bluegill channels and I say koi bc the fish I saw was orange and clearly a carp or koi.

Hello From Iowa/nebraska
Hey guys my name is Cory and I'm from Iowa/Nebraska border area so I get the option to fish both states pretty easy. I started fishing ages ago but recently in the last two years strayed away from catfishing to pursue more bass fishing and I haven't looked back since. I've read so much and have no problem finding fish but they all seem small in the 2lb or smaller range... This year I landed my first big fish at 7lbs
