  1. A Fury 702 and 703 paired with 25 size XTs should cover you pretty well.
  2. I prefer Dobyns as a company over the others listed. Made in America by people you can actually pick up the phone and talk to. Customer service is on par with St. Croix which is no easy tasks to accomplish. The Fury line is the most sensitive $100 dollar rod I have fished.
  3. Completely perfect. Balances tip up 1" in front of the reel stem.
  4. I seriously have a love hate relationship with these things. Its like a crazy ex that you just keep calling back. Buy, fish, sell, then regret selling. I had 2x of the FA's that just didn't feel "right" I am hoping the FB is different but time will tell. For now its sitting on my light weight jig set up (Cajun Custom Rods Trigger).
  5. Also from what I can tell the only walleye series on there now is the GLX line.
  6. If you want to get two rods and stay around 100 bucks per go with a Dobyns Fury 733 and 734.
  7. Any 7 foot ml or medium power fast action rod with a Daiwa BG 2500.
  8. Power Pro by a HUGE margin. The only braid I have used in the last 5 years I truly hated was Spiderwire. I wouldn't use it again if it was free.
  9. The Calico Jack rods are really good for the price.
  10. Your musky stuff will work fine.
  11. From my experiences longer rods have more room to work with per say. So it can still have a good tip while being able to have more backbone simply because the rod is longer. I have never used an extreme but that does hold true for some of the 7'6" inshore rods I have used in the past. I would assume the 732 would be the same, with the 762 and 792 being even more so.
  12. I fish everything you listed on a 703 Sierra. I would not use a Dobyns 2 power for anything other than light wire exposed hook rigs. I have been really thinking about a new St Croix or Loomis but I might end up with a Champion 732 because I like my Sierra that much. Also I agree with mr craw a full rear grip is a must for me at this point and I truely wish they offered that in the Sierra line because I would just stick to that line of rods.
  13. I do have a 3000 FK I could put on there. Then throw the Ci4 on my light jig rod.
  14. Online. None of my local shops carry anything above the Avid line. I will be putting a Ci4 2500 on it.
  15. The model I am looking at is in the walleye series so it has a full grip which is something really like.
  16. River fishing smallmouth and saugeyes with jigs mostly. Would love to get an LE but its not in the budget right now.
  17. Completely overlooked the Kistler rods. Might have to take a look at those Heliums.
  18. If my goal was a 7lb smallmouth I would spend as much time as I could on lake Erie. I wish I could get up there more often.
  19. I have used owned a 7' ML Avid spinning rod in the past and was wondering from guys who have fished both is the LT worth the increased cost? The LT I am looking at it in the walleye series its the 7' ML.
  20. My original thought was the AGS 7'1. I agree on the 7'+ its really hard for me to use shorter rods now that I am used to the longer ones. Most of my local stores don't stock much in the way of higher end rods. Mainly looking at the 300 price point. Also secretly waiting to see what the new XX line from Megabass looks like.
  21. I mean tip light. I can not stand fishing with a rod that is tip heavy. As far as holding the rod I either put all fingers in front of the reel stem or just my pinky behind it.
  22. So I am giving these a go again (sold my FA because I could not find a rod to balance it on). Question for you guys that have been able to balance these what rods are they on? Looking for a ML or M 7'-7'6" fast action that will balance tip up.
  23. I am going to be doing some upgrades to the drags on some of my reels (Stradics) and going with Carbontex drags but I was wondering if it is worth upgrading to them if the reel has a carbon fiber drag from the factory (BG 2500)?
  24. I have used the following braids: Suffix 832 10 lb Power Pro 10 and 20 lb Suffix Performance 10 lb Smackdown 10 lb Power pro slick 8 10 lb Spiderwire stealth 10 lb Fins Windtamer 10 and 12 lb Gamma Torque 8 lb Of all of those I can safely say the best for my uses is what ever I can find on sale, other than the Spiderwire that stuff just sucks. Currently running 832 moss green 10 lb on all but one set up which has 20 lb Power Pro original on it. The only reason is I got a stupid good deal on a bulk spool of 832. BTW Bass pro has 832 for $9.99 for 150 yard spools. Best deal going right now imo.
  25. Cant go wrong with a BG, I think they scare GMR smallies onto the shore!
