Any Pelican Bass Raider Owners Out There?
I have seen one in the bay by my house (I wouldn't try that). I feel safe enough in my boat to go on big lakes. I just wouldn't wander more than a 1/4 mile away from my starting point or go further out that a couple of hundred yards. Then again I'm old and don't take as many chances as I used to. lol

Wright Mcgill Skeet Reese Rod Series
I recently got into baitcasting at 54 y/o and fell in love with it. I bought a Lew's Carbon Blue combo ($89.99) after 2 weeks of practice I was throwing that thing further then my spinning combos. I am now ready to step up to a next level combo. My mind is made up on a Lew's BB1 pro reel. So now I'm looking at rods. I'm looking to spend $150-200. I went over to the high end rod section at Dicks and was just kinda kickin the tires on the St Croix's the Doybin's etc. Then I picked up a Wright McGill Skeet Reese and really really loved it! I looked at the price on the Senko model and I was shocked it was only $87. It felt as good if not better then rods at twice the price. The only draw back is they are yellow! LOL. Matt black with yellow highlights would be a lot better IMO. but whatever. Is anyone using these these rods out there? How are they holding up? How well do they cast? Input please. I mostly use stickbaits and topwater and they make models for both. So I see 2 set ups in my near future. BTW, that same Senko rod is now on Amazon for only $58!

Any Pelican Bass Raider Owners Out There?
lol , by the looks of it I guess you're pretty good with the boat trailer then. Thanks for the tip. I should be getting a new truck and trailer sometime in January. Ill take the rig out to my favorite lakes and practice backing up with the trailer while no one is around. I think I'll be pretty good by the time March/April rolls around when I'll have an audience at the lake

Any Pelican Bass Raider Owners Out There?
I'm plan on putting my Pelican away for the winter next month, It has to stay outside. I plan on elevating it upside down longways on a couple of picnic benches wrapped in a good tarp with bungees holding it all together. Sound good? Or will cold ruin it? Also with an electric motor, can that be stored in a shed with no heat? This my first boat so I have to ask dumb questions. One more thing. I am tired of lifting this thing up in the back of my pick up. I go by myself 100% of the time. So I need to get a trailer during the off season. I want a good one that wont break the bank but not a cheapo like Harbor Freight, any suggestions?

Any Pelican Bass Raider Owners Out There?
Is anyone else unhappy about how easy it is to destroy the bottom of this boat? I bought mine new this spring, I had it out a dozen times or so and I'm getting worried I wont have a boat next season. I am very careful with it, I avoid gravel ramps, I never drag it around. The bottom still looks like hell. I though about gluing down aluminum strips, but why should I have to go through all that with a brand new boat with tough "ram x" plastic? After seeing Bass Pros version of the plastic boat, I think I screwed up by not looking at theirs first. The plastic seems 10x tougher. Other then that, I like the boat, I just don't see it lasting more then 2 or 3 years with light use.

Buzz Bait Trailer Hooks
thanks for the replies guys, I'll give both methods a shot

Buzz Bait Trailer Hooks
I just purchased trailer hooks for my buzz baits. In the package along with the hooks came a small length of tubing. My guess,I put the trailer on the existing hook then cut a small piece of tubing and put that on the existing hook to help keep the trailer from slipping off. I know its a dumb question. But am I right? Its my first time trying these. I am having a 50% hook up rate without the trailer so I figured I would try it.

South Jersey Bass Fishing
Thanks for the replies guys. NJSalt what colors do you like on the keitech? weightless? jyu87, I work nights so its tough to get an early start but I can pull it off somewhat. The trip I caught the small one on I got in the water around 9 and caught him like 3 hours later. Then I tried late afternoon in the water by 4pm fished til dusk, got skunked This passed Monday I got in the water at Assunpink pretty early for me around 7:45 am, skunked fish devil, I like that downsize tip, I have the weedless hooks size 3/0 and O rings but I haven't tried wacky style yet. Should I stick with the color that has been working for me? (gr pump) or would like a straight up black be best for those lakes?

South Jersey Bass Fishing
HELP! In this post spawn period, I have just stopped catching fish. In my last 3 outings. 2 at Stone Tavern, 1 at Assunpink my grand total was 1 dink. I have tried crankbaits parallel to the shore at different distances, from shallow to deep. KVD's and 6th sense bluegill patterns. Senkos close to structures (gr pump, black with blue fleck and other colors) that jet out to deeper water. Big Texas rigged worms (zoom ol monster black and black and blue) in deep water. I do not yet have a fish finder. Other guys out there are catching. So what am I doing wrong? And what should I try next? Conditions have been little to no wind, partly sunny to full sun. mid 70's to mid 80's air temps. The water is green and cloudy out on those mentioned lakes

Nice! I have to get a trailer next year. I'm not enjoying moving this thing around by myself.

Man, you have a lot of stuff in a small space. If it works for you, great. I have the 10E and wont even take another person with me. I take no more then 3 rods, a small tackle box, a net, 8lb anchor and a cooler bag for water. I do plan on a fishfinder next. I wish I had some kind of strap down so the rods can ride on the rails. I don't trust myself to not knock them overboard.

Any Pelican Bass Raider Owners Out There?
We had a huge thunderstorm the other day and despite have a good cover over the boat, it still got swamped. I got all the water out then noticed the hull has quit a bit of water in it. Is it a good idea to seal the edge that goes around the outside of the boat for the future? or does it need to breath? Lifting that thing all the way up on one end while the water drains out the front kind of sucks.

15 mins into my ride out there the rain was coming down pretty good, so I went back home. In retrospect I should have stuck it out. This Saturday is looking iffy for rain, but cool temps

I put Cleats on the plywood floor and carpet I installed. With the weight of the battery on top of the floor, the anchor never came close to pulling out the floor. Working so far.

South Jersey Bass Fishing
Fished Wells Mills this morning. 6 bass, best one was a 2lb. Green pumpkin with purple and black flake 5" Senko. Weeds are really choking the place out. Best for canoes and kayaks at this stage. I think that's going to be my last trip out there. At one point in the wind I would travel 20 yards before I had to clean the prop then lose 15 yards while cleaning it off. It was a real hassle getting back in. Good fishing though.
