Hey all, I thought I would give you an update. I went out and got some d-Con, put about 4 in and around the boat. I saw it being eaten within a day. So hopefull this will get rid of them. Funny story: The other morning my wife saw a slow rolling mouse moving across the backyard on top of the snow when all of a sudden a large bird came down, chowed it then flew off with it leaving a round circle of blood. Pretty crazy ha? Anyway thank you all for your help and advise.

Fishing Rhino, I really like your comments about the fishing markers. I would have never thought of that and will definately give it a try next season. Do you guys have any major preference over a color or black n white screen on a fish finder?

WOW Way2slow, thanks for the Time out! I don't want to fry my batteries especially since I bought then this past summer. I pretty much understand your explaination on the connections, just not sure how I can connect the positive on the maintainer to battery 1 then the negative to battery 2 since they are so far apart.

Am I looking for too much? do you all just have one console and live with that? Way2Slow, again thanks for the awesome info. The term Maintainer just confused me I have a battery charger, it has several settings and one of them is a trickle charge at 2Amp I believe. But I am not sure about it protecting from overcharging though. I will have to look that up. So if I just use this how would I connect it to two batteries? it just has two clips on the cables. SirSnookalot I WAS worried about that, I don't have it on concrete but actually on dirt, would I still need to place wood or some jack stands under the trailer frame? Thanks guys you rock Harpoon

Hi all, I scored a pretty nice fishing boat last season. 16' Starcraft Fishmaster. I would like to get a new fishfinder for it. I have seen some boats that have a console mounted in the bow which I thought was cool for when you are trolling and fishing from the bow platform. I also like the idea of the depth sensor at the front as apose to the rear so you have an warning before you hit that rock. I guess what I want is to have a single product that has a sensor in the front and rear and a console that can either be moved between the drivers seat to the bow. I don't know if having two seperate consoles is an option. I am extremely new to this stuff so I appreciate any information you can offer. I am not looking to spend a fortune I would say under $300 much less if possible. Thanks alot Harpoon

Way2slow, thanks for the great information. I do not have a "maintainer" not even sure what that is but I don't have power right next to the boat so I need to run a 50foot ext. cord to it. So from what you said if I just trickle charge them every 6-8 weeks I should be all set? Bass or Bass. thanks alot for rubbing that in. :'(

Hey all, I have winterized my boat and tucked it away but I left the batteries in it. I do plan on going out there say once a month to trickle charge them for a day. Do you guys leave your batteries in the boat or take them inside for the winter? This is my first boat so still in the learning stage. Harpoon

Well thanks all for your advice. I got some MothBalls and i heard dryer sheets help so i got some of them. i will put them in then put my boat cover on. Now is this going to make them run for the hills? Jig Man, I do not know what Bar bait is but will look it up. Hot Rod, I like you idea about puting poison in the boat but affraid if they die in the boat it will smell and I may never find the corpse. As for them causing major damage I hear ya there. I have lost sooo much styrofoam I hope the thing still floats. Thanks everyone Harpoon

Hi all, I hope you all had a great holiday. I properly winterized my boat, I even bought a carport to put it in to keep the snow and rain off of it. So I cleaned it and tucked it away a couple months ago. Well I went out last weekend to trickle charge the batteries and saw a ton on styrofoam in a few of the storage compartments. they are eating the crap our of it. What do you guys do to keep rodents out of your boat in the off season? Thanks for your help harpoon

Hey Fishcat, thank so much for this information and you answered my last question for me too about how much fogger to use. So I only ran the motor for about 5 minutes after stabilizer so with all this awesome information I will start the process over again just so I feel more comfortable about it. Oh Yes, I forgot to mention the spark plugs. I didn't do that yet because I didn't have the proper socket to fit. As for the fly wheel, are you referring to the propeller? If not I don't know where the flywheel is.. Thanks for your help

Hey guys, I have a question about this. I have a 40HP Mercury Outboard what I need to winterize. My questing i how much of this fogger am I supposed to spay into the engine? Here is what I did: Added Fuel Stabilizer, Ran the motor for about 5 minutes Sprayed a few times in Carb(for about 2 seconds each) Pulled the Fuel line off Sprayed in Carb until it killed the engine.( was only a few seconds before it died) Is this sufficient? Hey HPBB, did you have to drill all the way through the rail and use a nut and bolt? Or did you just screw into a one side? if the latter did you need an anchor for the screw to tighten to it? did you have to use any apoxy to keep water from leaking in? Sorry for all the questions, just a bit scared to drill into the boat. Thanks alot Harpoon

Hey HPBB, thanks for the reply. you wouln't have any pics of the installed cleats would ya? This is my first boat and not very comfortable drilling into it. I did find some plastic cleats at WalMart are those what you uses?

Hello all, I bought this boat this year and so far love it. I did just notice that is doesn't have any cleats on the sides of the boat. I have 4 bumpers for it but no where to tie them on. Does anyone have a boat like this? Is there a way to add cleats to a boat like this? I am taking up to a lake house for a week in NH that has a dock and am concerned of not protecting it with the bumpers. Thanks as always harpoon

Hey guys, I am just about to take my Maiden voyage on my 1994 16' Starcraft fishmaster. As I was going over everthing I noticed that the bilge pump didn't run when I switched it on.. Can anyone tell me if it will only run when it sees water?? or should it run on land?? Thanks Jeff
