They both are the same price. $89.00 Exide: Nautilus 730 MCA 160 Min Reserve Or Sears DieHard 575 Cold cranking amps 180 minute reserve. Thank You, I appreciate your advice.

  4. Hello, I got my first boat which I am very excited about but it didn't come with any batteries. It looks like it is fully wired for two. One for the Main Motor (40HP Mercury) a fish finder. And Nother one for the trolling motor. The boat is a 94 Starcraft Fismaster 160c. My question is I have no idea what kind of batteries to get. Can someone help me out here? Should I just be going to Walmart to get these batteries? Any help will be really appreciated. Thanks Harpoon

Shimano® Sahara® FD Spinning Reel http://www.cabelas.com/cabelas/en/templates/links/link.jsp?id=0060373123663a&type=product&cmCat=SEARCH_all&returnPage=search-results1.jsp&Ntt=shimano+2500+fd+spinning+real&Ntk=Products&sort=all&_D%3AhasJS=+&N=0&_D%3Asort=+&Nty=1&hasJS=true&_DARGS=%2Fcabelas%2Fen%2Fcommon%2Fsearch%2Fsearch-box.jsp.form1&_dyncharset=ISO-8859-1 I am really new to fishing so I don't really know how to compare them myself. Any thoughts or experience on which reel is better? Thanks as always Harpoon
  9. Vic, thank you very much for this awesome and detailed information, I really got alot out of it. I especially liked this statement: "(when I first started learning more, I didnt know there was a difference either and placed a baitcaster on a spinning rod. I had a lot of cramps in my arm using this lol)" You know why? because I spent the entire last season with this uncomfortable cramp and now I finally know why. DUH!! I replaced my damaged reel and now I know that I picked the wrong type. Again I really appreciate you taking the time to write all this excellent information. Harpoon
  10. Awesome guys, thank alot, this is a great start. I will do all the reading that you mentioned and will surely be back for some more specific questions. This is awesome I am excited. Thanks again Harpoon
  11. Ok Noob here, to this forum and to fishing. I started fishing again a few years ago when my kids were old enough to bring them and teach them what little I know. I just bought a fishing boat and wanted to get more serious this year and after reading many thread in this category my head just about exploded off of my shoulders. soo many different makes and models and wow these are expensive. My experience has been to go to Walmart and just grab a set that looked adequate, I never knew about all the different aspects of a rod, like the tip sensitivity, grade of the rod ( medium/heavy), the different lengths. etc. There are rods specific to what reel you are using? spinner or caster?? and what the heck is the difference between them? Some have said to go and try out some rods to see what feels good. Again, the only place I know of around me would be Walmart. What types of places are you referring too? I live in Massachusetts just below the NH border. So I guess any decent name brand rod and reel would be much better then what I have been using, I basically do small to medium lake fishing with fake worms and some small lures. but have been reading alot about "crank bait". Can you point me in a direction for a medium level rod and reel that is sub $100.00 Also is the money better spent in the rod or the reel? I am seeing that those can be very expensive as well. And can you also explain the differences in these reel types that would be great as well, I guess I would like to know why I would by one type over the other. thanks alot guys and keep in mind I am very new here hence all of the questions. I appreciate your input. Harpoon
  12. Thanks Wayne, that looks to be the one I have. Now I am looking for anyone that has had or has this unit to tell me how good it is? What is the good, what is the bad? How much is it worth?? If I am told that it is a peice of junk I will look at getting one now before the season starts. Thanks alot everyone, and keep in mind I am a very green noobie with all of this. Harpoon
  13. Thanks CGH, I will do that. Actually the picture you attached is exactly what it looks like. I will still try to take a picture of the front and back of the one I have. Thanks Jeff
  14. Hello all, I just bought my first boat, a 1994 Starcraft Fishmaster. It came with a bunch of stuff including this fish finder, I do not see any model number for it, it just says Ultima. Can anyone tell me how good this is? I am not even sure how old it is. Just looking for some insight. Thanks all, Jeff
  15. Hey Memo43, yes I have an uncle and a brother in-law that have boats so they both said they will help me learn how to tow and launch it. HPBB, it is a 1994 Starcraft Fishmaster 160C with a 40 HP Motor. Your comments are making me feel much more comfortable about making him an offer. I haven't seen it yes because it is 2 hours away from me but he says it is very clean and has no issues. He lowered it down to $3400 but hoping to snag it for $2700. how are these for numbers? again being a newbie I don't know the values of boats. Thanks alot and keep the comments coming. Jeff
