  1. Try throwing a double fluke rig(donkey rig). It has a better action than a single fluke.
  2. I fish the St. Lawrence River with the exact conditions. I have always hammered them with a dropshot or a tube. Try a hair jig(preacher jig) also.
  3. I have a buddy that swears by liquid mayhem. He consistently catches huge 4lb+ smallies. He's caught them over 6 also. http://liquidmayhem.ca/p/319/l/375/t/best-fish-attractants,-Best-bait-for-bass-Fishing,-Fish-bait,-Fishing-lure-Liquid-Mayhem-Fish-Attractants
  4. 4+ lber on a blue/silver Rapala rippin rap while pike fishing.
  5. Hopefully I will see you on the St. Lawrence in July then if you're fishing the whole series! Good luck!
  6. I know guys who have caught over 100 during prespawn. I can usually go out and catch between 10-30 in a few hours depending on the bite on the St Lawrence River. There is no prespawn fishing up here in St. Lawrence County so I have never hit the prespawn bite. 3.5 lb fish are very common and it is very likely to catch them above 5lbs. I know some people have caught them pushing 7 but I have yet to pull one out that big.
  7. Berkley gulp minnows, twitch tail minnows, x-zone slammers, senkos, strike king dream shot.
  8. Are you fishing the BFL in two weeks or the b.a.s.s federated in July? I wanted to fish the BFL next weekend but my new boat was stolen and recovered but won't be ready until around July 4th weekend or just after. I was supposed to fish Chautauqua Lakes in the B.A.S.S federated this weekend but won't make it.
  9. St. Lawrence river. Drop shot for smallmouth or senkos for large mouths.
  10. The average day is around 18-19 lbs. Sorry!
  11. I fished a wounded warrior tournament last year and it was pretty calm all day. We were drop shotting in 8-12 fow. We could see fish all over but couldn't make one bite. The weigh in was at 3. At 1pm the wind picked up to about 5pmh and put a nice ripple on the water. By 2pm we had 18lbs in the boat and were culling. The wind turned the fish on. We were in clear water so I'm not sure if it broke up the silhouette of our boat or what but it was certainly the wind that enabled us to catch them.
  12. I've got over $60k invested this year with a new boat and some new gear. On an average year I spend around $2-3K.
  13. That really SUCKS! I hate thieves! But I have a similar story. I bought a new nitro ZV18 about a month ago. I had over 3k in fishing gear in it and around $3k in electronics. A guy backed up to it in my driveway in broad daylight while my wife was putting our 4 yo to bed and took everything. I got home, called the cops, posted pics on facebook and the boat was found within 3 hours. I was pretty lucky. The guy had all my fishing stuff in the back of his truck, some of my electronics out and the cables and hoses were cut off the motor. He unbolted the motor and dropped it on the ground. The damage is almost $12k. Insurance will cover it but it will never be my new boat again. I should get it back around the July 4th weekend hopefully. It only had like 4 hours on it. The cops actually had possession of it longer than I did. I still haven't made the first payment yet. It's due in 5 days.
  14. I found it funny that most of the elites ran up towards the lake. There are some great spots East of Waddington that can and often do pull 25lb bags. I'm sure with the new format for the classic berth you will find less elites making that run. I believe it was Mark Davis that fished for largemouth the whole tournament and fished on the last day. I can't wait for that tournament as it's just up the road from me.
  15. On the St. Lawrence River it is not uncommon to catch 20lbs or over. I would say to get a top 10 you better have over 18lbs. To win, you would need over 20 on average. One morning I was out and within 30 minutes I had just over 20lbs of small mouth.
