  1. To me its not that your more or less knowledgeable than a employee working anywhere. The fact is all it takes is him being in the right place at the right time and overhearing a conversation that can give him insight you or I may never be in a position to hear. Think about it people on a shoe store don't have to be real shoe smart and after a month or two unless blind deaf and whatever else they will know more about the subject than the average person will have in 2 years. I'm not saying every employee at DSG or BPS will be dead on accurate with info but free information doesn't hurt to take it in even if you just store it in the back of your mind. It didn't cost you a thing and may come in real handy one day when your having a rough go at it.
  2. To me I listen as everyone can learn something. So I take in any knowledge they are willing to offer and I sort it out in my head as to whats believable or possibly matches up with some other info I had heard etc. You have to ultimately determine what makes sense, what is affordable or reasonably priced. You can see it here on this very forum where some spend enormous $ on a reel or a rod or a swimbait etc. Is that reasonable to you? For the majority I highly doubt a $400+ swimbait is. Assess the whole situation from the person telling you this stuff, to how or what you plan to fish for.
  3. I have several "favorites" as well. I have almost become addicted to tossing/flipping/pitching a craw (usually a Paca Craw) T rigged with a skirt, Just really getting into lipped crankbaits this year and really like the shallow divers Mann's 1 Minus has been a go to this year. Also the small jointed hard swimbaits have been a new one as well. As a single one bait only choice I would have to get the Mann's Jelly worm, but a 3/8 oz single colorado blade white spinnerbait is a very close second. Pretty much I enjoy catching fish and these do that for me is my reasoning.
  4. Where do you see that? At the top of their website it says Also I got this today in a email.

Awesome thanks. I did see on the internet where some fella changed out the back hook to a single hook. Is that just another solution? Better or worse? I didn't know the reason for the treble to single hook change I am now assuming to stop this.

OK I am new to the hard plastic swimbaits and after fishing 2 different ones this past evening I wanted to share my thoughts and questions. RAW08-271 worked pretty good. The thing cast well, it had a nice action to it, it even sank at a pace I could live with. Caught a nice bass with it. However the rear hook would once in a while get hung over the section right in front of the tail. Anyone else have that issue? I ordered 4 H2O XPRESS® Jointed Sunfish 3-1/2" Swimbait and right before I left the house I got the BLUEGILL colored one. So anyway after I caught the first fish on the RAW08-271 I thought heck I will try the new H2O one. This bait is very well colored btw. Looks awesome however this bait seems to get the hooks either tangled together or the rear hook does as the RAW08-271 and hangs up on the section right in front of the tail. I haven't got the other 3 yet but I am assuming all will be the same. Is it normal for the hooks to tangle like this? So whats your thoughts on these baits?
  7. My mistake I didn't remember or forgot that is where these type posts go. Thanks for the compliment. She was really thick up top what we call her shoulders. And that is my fishing partner holding her. Believe me I'm 250lbs she doesnt come close to out weighing me. LOL
  8. Caught this little girl this afternoon. Just wanted to share.
  9. You can do it but the "Pro" will tell you how a plastic worm must be strait as an arrow to work. I guess the "Pro" has never seen a real live worm in or out of water.
  10. So your low test mono or FC leader is to weaken the main line? And create less stress on the reel? Not picking on you or anyone that believes this is the way to fish. But why don't you just use a line that will break off to start with? Basically its like you guys are spooled up with the wrong line so you just ad a piece of what should be on the spool to start with? I see this as the most counter productive mess someone sold in fishing years ago. Seriously If we are going with the fish are that smart to know the line is there then they know that hook is there. I dont buy that they are that smart they eat plastic fake lures all day all over the planet. Your already breaking off losing the lure since you weakened the line adding a extra knot and a weaker line. What good is the braids strength when you have a fish on if you stick a piece of thread on the end that holds the lure? What good is it doing the guides on your rod running a knot through them every time you reel in your line? Probably equal to the damage to a reel you described. I will actually cut my line if its hung that bad so as not to hurt my reel or catch a hook in me or a fishing partner. What fun is it guessing when your knot is ready to give up as the OP posted? If you like tying knots and going through a similar mess of 30+ wraps and knots as described below have at it. I just see a lot of over complicating fishing. over 30 wraps and knots combined to make one knot...
  11. I know it's like talking to the wind but if you quit making that mess with a extra knot and just tie a Palomar Knot on your lure all the problems and questions you just asked will be answered. Including re-ties. Of course some are fanatics and think that fish just can't keep their eye off your line... hint hint many of us catch fish just fine strait braid. If that fish doesn't bite because of your line she wasn't biting anyway because she can see the steel hook too. duh
  12. Get rid of the wife problem solved.
  13. I went yesterday for a short stay and I did get skunked. I had 3 on and lost all three before getting them in the boat. Losing three well hooked in a row hasn't happened to me for as long as I can remember. One jumped and spit it, one was in a tree branch in the water and as I pulled the limb in he removed himself. And the third just spit it out after about 10 feet of fight. Bad days happen but I'm going back after lunch today to make amends.
  14. So you have had 2 of the diesel crank and were obviously happy or you wouldn't have bought the 2nd one. Why change and risk not liking the bps crankin stick? Unless there were above steller reviews and feedback on the BPS I don't think I would risk being unhappy vs a safe play on the rod you know you liked. Considering your like many (me included) on a budget makes me even think more so not to risk changing something that I know worked.
  15. When the other colors aren't working. When the hatch has some redbug colored prey in it. When you feel confident that is the secret weapon. I just got me some of the Red Shad Paca Craws tied on just because I think they should be yummy to a bass.
  16. Stop now delete your account here go in Google settings and block all outdoors stores like BPS Cabelas DSG etc. Investing limited money and fishing is like mixing oil and water. Seriously though what kind of fishing are you looking to do? Bank or Boat ?what do you want to fish for? What do you have already? And what is this limited budget amount? I would imagine some if the members would love to help you spend your $. But some info would help make better decisions.
  17. I see what you did there ?
  18. I don't think the guy was implying the baits were the same in any way. He just did suggestive selling by offering another bait that they had. "he recommended I try a Chatter Bait. He said that where I fish they do very well."
  19. So all the fish we catch without the miracle leader we should never speak of unless we just reeled it straight in. ??? I'm being sarcastic of course. There are those that have their faith in leaders for what ever reason and more power to them.
  20. What has been ending up on deck but sometimes 1 or 2 spinning rods are up top as well. 1 Crankbait rod 1 Plastics rod 1 Spinnerbait rod 1 flip/pitch rod
  21. This just doesn't look very talented and creative in any way except to move in on another bait companies bread and butter. You hang that picture up in any court room and you will be hard pressed to find a jury (unless the jury is blind) to say someone didn't copy someone else work. Only a elitist bass fisherman and not even all of them will commit to saying that isn't a copy. I know I know its been going on in the bait industry its a cat n mouse bs game etc. But seriously is this the best SK could come up with? I guess it just irritates me that this is what business has come to. Just dirty in my book and sure some others have done the same but since when did two wrongs make either right. Put yourself on the receiving end of some stunt like this and I bet those who think its all fair etc would have a 180 view when it was their $ on the line. SK can add to here 2016 - Copied the Keitech FAT Swing Impact but with our great innovation we reversed the ribs, lengthened the hook slot, and shortened the bait by .05 inches With Over 2,600 Strike King Brand SKUs we ran out of ideas so we copied a successful competitor.
  22. Same as above guys have said. I have a plan starting with getting the correct tackle and rods and reels setup. Then the plan is do not forget anything. Like snacks, key to boat, gas in boat, etc.. Ya know the basics that any normal person would remember without a plan. Then the list carries on as I plan to remember to put the drain plug in the boat before unloading, and make sure I have all the necessary items in the boat before heading across the lake. As far as the fishing plan goes I do what I planned but the plan is subject to change if any variable dictates its necessary.
