  1. Zoom Chunk is my favorite
  2. I'm still yelling at my wife for not answering her phone yesterday. The BCFR863 is $440 rod. It's quite a monster and super light weight to boot. I keep telling the baitmonkey to make these deals in my head go away but it is sort of like that first monster bass that gets away and all that is left is the story.
  3. It was a booth for Vicious/Outlaw line and baits. They were trying out the new Gami Monster EWG 7/0 and knots were breaking. They then tried to setup a drop shot setup on lighter line. Both demos went bad. I felt sorry for the guys. They had lots of good info to share.
  4. no doubt You got that right. The bank we go to just got bought by MI Bank and they stink. They charge you for everything under the sun, including a service fee every month for just having a savings account with no interest. We are able to keep the free checking but only one debit card.
  5. I saw this stuff at an expo today, even the rep had a hard time with it. I was not impressed.
  6. The bank we belong to only issues one card per account. She usually takes the check book and I get the debit but in this case I gave her the debit to stop and get gas and groceries. I didn't think I'd find anything. I just wanted to take my son to see the boats, the fishing pros, and Twiggy the skiing squirrel. :
  7. It has been a few years since I've been to one of these and to tell the truth I never find much of anything, until today. Today was the last day of the show. Here is a list of some of the deals I would have come home with if the wife didn't have the debit card to go shopping. 1) Shimano Curado of my choice and a Falcon LowRider of my choice: $200-$50 rebate=$150 2) Quantum Energy Baitcaster $105 3) G. Loomis BCFR863 GLX and one of the following reels: Shimano Chronarch MG 51, Daiwa Zillion, or Abu Garcia Revo Premier; $500 4)G. Loomis MBR784 GLX or MBR843 and one of the reels listed above: $400 If I bought the Revo, the rep had a bag filled with a bunch of Berkley stuff that had to come up to about $100-$150, for free. It was just left over giveaways. It had 3 spools of Trilene Professional Fluorcarbon, I don't now how many bags of Powerbait and Gulp, a hat, and I think a rain jacket. Bottomline, I'm going next time with some cash (if I have it) and try to hunt down some of these same deals. I was totally bumbed. :'(
  8. I have several aquariums over the years. That is how I picked my forum name. I have had a 55 gallon reef tank, 45 gallon column for discus, 60 gallon column for angel fish, 45 gallon for cichlids, 2 20 gallons for servums, several 10 gallons for guppies, feeder fish, and minnows, and I went through a phase for bettas. Right now I am down to my 45 gallon with angel fish, 45 gallon for cichlids, one betta bowl, and 5 gallon for a 9 year old gold fish. My last discus died aroung christmas, she was 8 years old. I hope sometime this summer I will start it back up but it was alot of work (even harder than my reef tank).
  9. I checked into getting this reel repaired and the decided to ask my local tackle shop about it. They were kind enought to take it back, return it to Quantum and let me exchange it. Long story short, I took my other one back as well and came home with two new Shimano Stradics. Problem solved.......... ;D So much for the Quantum/Loomis Posse.
  10. IMHO, it doesn't matter but if I do choose a color it is always black. I have tried others but I think it just to make it look appealling to the fisherman.
  11. When to BPS sale last year, they ran out of the Daiwa Steez (spinning and casting), even the displays and returns were gone. They said that the sale had to be honored only on the day you bring in your used reel. They had about dozen Steez reels and 100's of people looking to buy them. Many people went home empty handed.
  12. If I had a need for the rod, I would buy the rod. Otherwise I would stock up on the stuff I use all the time; hooks, softplastic, bullet weights, fluorcarbon line, a hard bait or two or maybe a reel good pair of fishing pliers.
  13. I was not impressed with this years ad. Something seems wrong or missing this year. It used to be a big deal and now it seems just ho-hum.
  14. When Dick's has a sale, you can pick up some awesome deals but with their system of stocking, lack of training for employees, and just a general lack of customer service. They are slowly losing my business. If I am hunting for everyday fishing items, like hooks, sinkers, Rapala lures, line, Zoom, and GYCB Dicks has some good deals from time to time. I just wish they would break away from the fashion of sports to a real sporting goods store. My hope is that Indianapolis will someday get a good store that caters to the outdoorsman. Until then, my local baitshop will do just fine.
  15. Softplastic: 5in Senko in any dark color (black w/blue flake, green pumkin w/black flake, or green pumpkin watermelon laminate) Hardbait: Lucky Craft Flat Mini MR in Chartreuse Shad
  16. For the past year or so I have positioned these reels equally with many other reels I have fished. But when I took newest one (Oct. 07) of the two I own out of the box to oil it, I noticed that something didn't feel right. When I turned the handle at a medium to fast speed and then came to a stop, the spool would keep spinning a little and make a clunking sound. I am taking a guess that it is the anti-reverse that is causing the problem. If my guess is wrong please let me know. Has anybody else had this issue?
  17. I have a MBR844 IMX, a MBR783 GLX and a BCR803 GLX and I can definately tell a difference between them. Is it worth the $100? Probably not. BCR803 is the most sensitive and fits it's specific purpose perfectly. Put it this way, if I was to buy another I would go with the GLX.
  18. I like the Loomis MBR844C IMX as all around general purpose rod. I have yet to find a rod that fits so many setups and techniques.
  19. I have great success with the Fat Ika rigged weedless. I just pitch it in there and let it fall.
  20. For me it has been the Lucky Craft 100DD in Chartreuse Shad.
  21. FishTank replied to X-Rap's topic in Fishing Tackle
I bought several of these last year with high hopes but it has yet to be a good producer for me. I have caught a few fish but nothing spectacular. I have actually caught several crappie with these things. I have done better with the shad raps, fat glass raps and the regular DT's.
  22. I use a pair of kids saftey scissors. They're cheap, some will float, they won't damage anything in your tackle box and they do a good job of cutting braided line.
  23. I like Yo Zuri as well but 15lb P-Line Floroclear is also one of my favorites.
  24. Congrats...... The only problem with getting your first Loomis is trying to figure out when you'll get your next one.
