  1. Megabass P5 Super Destroyer. This has been my do all rod. It can be had for $300 at most JDM sites.
  2. I have the 844C GLX and IMX, older versions. They are great rods. I also have the 904C NRX+ that I use as my primary 1/2oz football jig rod. It is by far my favorite jig rod. I wouldn't hesitate to get the 844C in the NRX+. It can be a challenge to find one below the MSRP but it can be done. Good luck.
  3. I'm still evaluating it but the Megabass P5 Z-Crank Elseil would probably do all that. I only had a few outings with it before everything froze up but so far it seems very versatile, sensitive, and fun to fish.
  4. He seems to follow me everywhere. He's in my wallet and now at my favorite fishing spot.
  5. It's fast at the tip and almost progressive throughout. It's, too me, the perfect taper for a BFS rod that can handle bass. As far as EWG plastic, it will depend on what it is. You are not going to have the power you do with say a regular Med. fast rod. I have used Dolive Beavers and some Ned Rig stuff. You do have to set the hook differently than you do on other rods. I don't pull hard. I sort of let the fish hook itself. Your line choice and drag setting should also be set up properly. This rod does have some power though. I know this is the guy is selling his own rod but what he says is accurate.
  6. I have the 7' 3x. It's pretty awesome. For once, I like it better than my Megabass BFS rods.
  7. I would agree both rods are too heavy, especially for Ned Rigs. A 4000 size reel is more saltwater, catfish oriented to me. For Neds I would want a 2000 size reel with 6lb FC and a 7' ML Fast rod that goes around 1/16 - 1/2oz or even lighter.
  8. I have been using one these for years. It's easy and convenient. I purchased a used machine store spooler from Gander Mountain when they went out and didn't care for it. It was probably operator error. I sold it. As far as going to a store, I have had spools broken or damaged twice. I had to teach a guy at DSG how to use the machine when me and my buddy got one his reels spooled. I also had guy try to spool a spinning reel backwards and another, and I kid you not, try to do it by hand. That was years ago. I will never have anyone do it but myself.
  9. Last bait monkey grab for a while. Saving up for a new trolling motor. Can't wait to try the Deps Crawler out. Should be a blast. Also the Ghost Tiger 110 Jr +1 is one the coolest colors I've seen yet from Megabass.
  10. I would normally say a G. Loomis 844C but I recently purchased a Mebabass P5 Z-Crank Elsiel and it has fantastic tip for popper baits. It have tried a Pop Max on it and it the tip has a quick snap to it. It's hard to explain. The rod is soft like a Mod-fast but has a quick hook set with a softer middle. It fantastic for a 110 and especially the 110 jr. I need some more time with it but so far, it's amazing.
  11. I don't think this is something new. I had a few baits like it years ago that I would fish in saltwater. It would sink and rise up.
  12. Currently I have three different brands that I use OSP, Megabass, and Picasso. I am all over the place on brands when it comes to spinnerbaits. I really comes down to what I have confidence in on a day that the bass will bite one.
  13. That's kind of the route I'm going. I found the $150 pair from Cabelas clearanced out for $75. They only had one pair in store in my size. They are $120 on their website. I tried several more expensive pairs on and these don't feel too bad. For $75, I figured it was worth a shot. I am definitely going to get some Aqua Seal though.
  14. I use both and don't feel much difference between the the two. I do prefer each one for specific situations and lean towards what I have the most confidence in.
  15. True. I was thinking it seems you see a lot people having success with budget friendly rods and better quality reels when it come to BFS fishing. Ali Express and Temu are littered with this stuff that guys are using and praising on YouTube. Not that I will go out of my way to shop at these sites based on their opinions. For me personally, I think a good reel with a light spool and a quality breaking system that works with light lures (around 3g for example) is a better formula for success in BFS fishing than a rod that is of greater quality (or expense).
  16. The rod is most important factor unless you're talking BFS. Then its the reel.
  17. I have one of the Hunt BFS rods and it has some power to it surprisingly. It is does have a light tip and that is how should be designed. You are not going to pull a 5lb+ from heavy cover with it but you probably won't do that with a ML either. I did look into the KLX rod you mentioned when I bought the Hunt BFS. The KLX was sold out then and looks to be still sold out. I caught this smallmouth on the Hunts and it was a blast. And this one and several others last year from a kayak....
  18. Getting ready for some hiking and stream fishing for trout. I found a good deal on a 4 piece Tenryu Rayz Integral. It's super lightweight and a work of art. It will be a learning experience for me. I'm going to pair it with a Shimano Conquest BFS. More fun stuff to come.
  19. I have PA 14. I stand up in it when the wind doesn't turn me into sail. I haven't fallen out yet. It's very stable for a kayak.
  20. I have struggled with it as well until I got a few pieces of advice from a guy fishing for striper a few years ago and he was catching them left and right. I don't fish the +2 often and only really have 2 left in my box but the advice I got has worked for me on a few occasions. So first off line, 10lb fluorocarbon is where the magic is at. No heavier and no mono or braid . This is where it gets a little iffy for me.... When jerking with a heavier line or mono it can cause the line to wrap or pull on the nose when pausing. It changes how the bait sits, looks and how it will jerk on the next pull. Finally and most important for me, you don't jerk or pop the bait like you do a 110 or 110 +1. You actually swipe/drag the bait with a sweeping motion after you get it to depth, then pause it. On the pause, make sure the line is some what tight and they should hit (at least that's what has happened for me). I have also caught fish on a straight retrieve with varying speed. I wish I could do a video to explain it but I hope this makes sense.
  21. Is it possible Morizo Shimizu is no longer with Sunline? Did he retire?
  22. Good question. I noticed these at a few JDM sites after I purchased the ones from Amazon. They look to be better built than I what I purchased. They are also fairly inexpensive. Maybe if I make another order in the future I will grab one of them.
  23. Personally, I would wait until there spring sale and get the most out of your gift card. I looked over the Canadian website and there's not much to be had. The prices are higher than I expected but that's Canada. If you are loaded down on tackle, invest in a good PFD, maybe fishing clothing that can help make your day more enjoyable, or some tackle storage.
